My girlfriend and I had a great time staying out in the Cottage (known as the Cow shed as that is what it was converted from) for a couple of nights last week! Riona was away on the first night however Paddy made us feel more than welcome, first by inviting us in for a beer, then recommending us some things to do which we would otherwise have missed (like the gap of Dunloe), and finally he recommended a few places in nearby Killorglin to us so that we could go out for dinner, and offered to give us a lift there! The hospitality was astounding, and when we met Riona the following day she was very friendly too. The Cottage itself is very cosy with the fire going and the kitchen has everything you will need if you fancied having a night in, like we did on our second night there. We had a great time, and my girlfriend didn't want to leave - high praise indeed!
Riona and Paddy were incredible hosts. From the moment we pulled up to the house to the morning we drove away, they were both very welcoming and hospitable. We stayed 2 days in Killarney and this was the perfect location and size for 2 of us. The airbnb home is actually a renovated cowshed; an open room with a lofted bedroom that is quite spacious and comfortable. They had the fire lit and roaring for us when we arrived, and that set the tone for the entire stay. What an amazing stay; if you're thinking of traveling to Killarney I would highly recommend Riona and Paddy's cottage, we can't wait to visit them again soon!
Riona & Paddy's place is about 15-20 minutes outside of Killarney in a delightful country setting. The cottage is cozy and was fully stocked with all I needed for my stay. Riona is a gifted photographer with some of her work being displayed throughout the cottage. She and Paddy live in the adjoining home and had a remarkable sixth-sense of when to welcome me in for a drink (which was often) and when to leave me be. I was welcomed unreservedly into their home with friends & other family members present. Wonderful and extended conversation was frequently the order of the day and entirely great fun. Their recommendations for eating out were spot on as were suggestions for a wide variety of Ring of Kerry activities. Local walks were invigorating as the rural nature of the property provided a quiet serenity that I enjoyed immensely. For a peaceful stay with gracious and fun hosts, I can't recommend Riona & Paddy's cottage higher.
Riona and Paddy are the most welcoming hosts I have stayed with using Air BnB. The house is lovely, comfortable and very tastefully decorated. Riona had a big fire lit for when we arrived which made for a very cosy atmosphere – there were also some chocolates for us on arrival! I would definitely recommend staying with Riona and Paddy when in this part of the world – they are extremely warm and friendly and can’t do enough to help you and all in all the rates are very reasonable for what you get.
The cottage was a little home away from home to rest and relax after a tiring trip. We were welcomed with a roaring fire, fruit, chocolates, beer, a loaf of bread fresh out of the oven, and of course the renowned Irish hospitality. Riona and Paddy were fantastic hosts, always willing to have a chat, give you some tips about what to see, and have a drink! The dog, Dora, and cat, Beatrice, were very cuddly additions to our stay. The location was perfect to explore the sites of Kerry; just 15 minutes to the Gap of Dunloe, Torc Waterfall, Muckross House, Killarney and the town of Kilorglin. The ideal place to unwind, we can't wait to come back!
A cosy cottage tucked away in the countryside. Waking to the glow of the sun over the mountains, watching the cows over the fence shelter from the rain, listening to the tapping of the birds greedy for seeds under the guttering, all the way through to wintery evenings with a roaring fire and good wine. It was relaxing, quiet, and just what we were looking for.
Riona and Paddy made us feel more than welcome, had decorated the cottage for Christmas, and were quick with wit and freshly baked bread! Although a car is necessary, it's a quick spin to Killarney, up to the Gap of Dunloe (beautiful even in torrential rain - honestly!) or west to Killorglin (check out Sol y Sombra for authentic tapas in an amazing venue). Recommended!
It was great. I got everything I needed and above all peace and quiet to unwind from the city. Thank you so much Riona
