About This Listing
Private bedroom, air conditioning, one block away from beach, two blocks away from subway, wifi internet.
Private bedrooms for rent in a beautifully renovated apartment in Copacabana. Each room can accommodate up to two people.
Each room has a double bed, air conditioning, ceiling fan, big window with noise reduction and blackout curtain, closet and mirror.
There are two bathrooms. We also offer high speed wireless internet. Our building has an elevator and a doorman 24 hours a day.
We are located only one block away from Copacabana beach, very close to Posto 5. The Ipanema subway station is two blocks away. The beautiful beaches of Ipanema and Arpoador (best places for seeing the sunset!) are a mere 15-minute walk away from our home. When you're looking for agitated nightlife, the neighbourhood of Lapa is just a 30-minute bus ride away. The airport Santos Dumont is also some 30 minutes away by bus, or you can get a taxi for no more than R$30.
Please let us know if you need to check in or out at a time other than the specified. We may be able to work something out '=)
Copacabana is a busy neighbourhood with LOTS of restaurants, bars and shops. Aside from the bars, you'd probably have more fun spending the nights in other parts of town. There's also some theaters (playhouses) here. My favorite thing in Copa is the beach. Also, it's great to be so close to Ipanema, Botafogo and Lapa all at once.
There's a million bus lines that will take you to most places here - even across Guanabara bay. There's also the subway, which doesn't go many places, but it does go pretty far. We don't have parking space in our building, but there are parking lots nearby. There are buses here in Copacabana that will take you straight to any of the two airports.
No smoking inside the house, and no illegal drugs. Please, try to keep the bathroom tidy ;-) Also, clean up after yourself when you use the kitchen. Keep the noise down between midnight and 8am.
When you leave the apartment, please remember to turn off the lights and the air conditioning.
We stayed here during Carnavale. And like other places, prices were inflated. I communicated with Bernardo, his mother Bete, and Vera their friend. Probably too many people to discuss matters with but We only met Vera and she was timely and friendly.
Pros: location close to copa and ipanema. Very spacious. 24 hr security. Safe environment though in a very old building, the apartment appears updated. Washing machine available.
Cons: Very noisy at night, almost as if the windows were open. Especially during Carnavale when people are talking and yelling on the streets. But even on a regular day the noise of cars and trucks made it difficult to sleep. Although the apartment is orderly, sheets and couches were old and stained. Drainage in washroom was poor. Air conditioner in the 2nd room was leaky. We had some misunderstandings about additional payment of one night over type of currency. Although it was an error made on the owners side, it was not acknowledged and caused us some hassle to get the desired currency for what equated to only about 20USD.
The apartment is very well located, there are buses and taxis in the street and it's noisy. Sorry for the problem with the air condicioner, we have it fixed and there are new sheets and towels now. I apologized about the misunderstanding of the payment but all the prices here, in Airbnb, as you can see, are in US dollars and we offered the possibility of payment in reais, Brazilian money. Hope you enjoyed your staying in Rio.
Everything was exactly as described by Bernardo. The place was clean and perfectly located in the city one block from the beach. We felt very welcomed and relaxed in this apartment.
My friend and I stayed in a room at Bernardo's apartment for three nights during the World Cup. Bernardo was a great host! He greeted us during check-in and made us feel very welcome in his home. He offered recommendations on live music spots in Lapa when asked, and he was knowledgeable about the buses and metro. The entire apartment was very clean and tidy. The location was excellent, just a block from the beach, and super close to many restaurants, convenience stores, shops and banks. I highly recommend Bernardo's apartment and his hospitality. I would definitely stay there again if I'm lucky enough to find myself in Copacabana again!
Great spot in cool location. Super chill host. Def recommend for copacabana.
Great place, apartment was exactly as advertised. Didn't meet Bernardo but his friend,Vera, helped do a seamless key pick up and drop off. She's really nice and very punctual! It's a bit noisy since its on a Main Street but that didn't bother me personally.

About the Host, Bernardo
I love reading, going to the movies, playint the guitar. I'd love to go to Rio Grande do Sul. I want to go more times to Uruguay, and I want go to Peru and Bolivia. I never traveled using Airbnb, but I can hardly wait to try it!
The food here is wonderful and the environment is cozy.
It's our local movie theatre in Copacabana. They have three theatres, one of them with 3D.
This bar is on the "gay street" of Ipanema. On the high season it gets very crowded with handsome guys.
It's a cool nightclub. Young people, very mixed with gay and straight people. They play rock, pop and alternative, but not a lot of Brazilian music.
If you need to go to a mall, this is good and not far away.
This is easily one of my favourite places in Rio! It's in the middle of the forest, it has some wild animals, an aquarium, an art school, a great restaurant...!
Stone-paved streets, charming old houses, great restaurants. There's also a museum called Parque das Ruínas: a high place with a great view in the utterly beautiful neighbourhood of Santa Teresa.
Fridays at 11:30pm they start banging the afoxé drums on the door. Midnight they walk in and the place opens. You can get in for free until 12:30am. They play until 1am, then it's "hip hop fury" ;)
