This comfortable house was part of the original housing for the cement mine in Rosendale back in the early 1900s. It's cute little neighborhood is 15 mins from New Paltz and it's hiking, walking, and climbing;15 minutes from Kingston with it's music, theater and art; half an hour from Woodstock with it's art, music and history. It's also less than an hour from many of the catskill mountain trails, 2 ski mountains, the second largest zip line in the world, hang gliding, the many historic homes of the Hudson River Valley, 2 drive in movie theaters, a hand full of wineries, and just about anything else you could want. It is 2 miles from the bus to New York City and 30 mins from the train station in Poughkeepsie which also takes you to NYC. The house has a front and back porch, kitchen, bathroom with a tub, a big screen TV, wireless internet, an office space and a dining room. It is in a wonderful neighborhood with great neighbors. They will not impose on your privacy but will greet you with warm smiles. The house was completely renovated over the last 5 years and is very welcoming.
Interaction with Guests
I won't be around at all as the house is yours, but I am always available by phone if you have issues or questions.
A car is really a must around here. Public transport is a mile away and the roads do not have side walks and are not well lit.
Treat this house the way you would treat your own. Please be respectful of my neighbors, they are wonderful.
Jess' home is cozy. The vibe is positive and holistic. We've stayed here on multiple occasions, and once for three weeks. Jess has always been gracious and kind, and helpful whenever we needed it. There are also books there on Catskill Trails and magazines and pamphlets with useful info on nice places to eat, visit and enjoy. Rosendale is becoming more like a second-home to us every day, thanks to Jess' hospitable and comfortable home she has shared with us. As the winter snow thaws, and the sun rises higher, this place will spring to life with gardens in the back, friendly neighbors, and nearby hiking paths. The Roundout Creek is near, and the rail trail awaits you.

Jess's home is fantastic. It felt like our own home. Between the desing choices, the cozy pellet stove that kept us warm and set a romantic tone, and the wonderful neighbors, this was a great stay and we will definitely go back. Jess left recommendations for us for food, activities, detailed instructions as to where things were, and given the recent storms, kept us informed about road conditions. This was a very welcome escape that we had wanted to do, and it turned out to be perfect.
Main St Bistro for breakfast in New Paltz was ridiculously good, but the real steal was the snow. Going from NYC and an almost deep hatred of snow by this point, we fell in love with it, particularly at Mohonk and Minnewaska State Park. Jess's home is very conveniently located close to food, hiking, snowshoeing, cross country skiing, and hey, if you get snowed in, well, it just doesn't get cozier than being indoors in a place that feels like home, because it should, and Jess makes sure it does.
Thanks Jess for a great experience and hope to be back soon!
Jess has an absolutely charming house and it's so well appointed! It's immaculate, in an adorable area, and had a cozy fire burning when we arrived. She was so accommodating and helpful. Rosendale was cute as a button-- great access to amenities in the area. And what a bargain! Can't recommend highly enough.
I honestly think that at $100 a night, Jess's home is a steal. Definitely a cozy place to spend a few nights and though we didn't get to meet Jess she left a really detailed note explaining everything and recommended a few places to check out during our stay. I recommend walking the rail trail which is nearby, getting lunch at the Rosendale cafe, and driving over to lake minnewaska and hiking a few trails there. Could not have asked for a better escape from Brooklyn!
We had a wonderful stay at Jess's home. It was beautiful and homey. Communication was easy and quick. And it's a lovely area! We definitely hope to stay again!
We had a great stay here! Jess was so helpful providing great advice on trails and nearby restaurants and attractions. The home truly is cozy! Could not have asked for a better weekend getaway trip to Hudson Valley :)

I am an outdoorsy playful girl in my late 30s. I love to spend time with friends, eat good food, be outside and to laugh. I have a motorcycle license, am in nursing school, started a pick up ultimate frisbee league in my town and love to connect people to the places I love. I work part time at a community health care clinic and volunteer at the local not for profit where I worked here for more than 10 years. I also have a bodywork practice where I do thai-shiatsu body work, matrix energetics and reiki. My family lives near by and I have a close relationship with them. I like to read and sew and bake. I have been knitting and crocheting since I was a young girl. I am a huge Harry Potter fan, love romantic comedies and have been reading a lot about quantum physics. My home is set up to be both a place to host the many wonderful people in my life and to be a calming retreat.
I live with my girlfriend, Brenda, who is more shy than I am. She is a big battlestar galactica, breaking bad and Dexter fan. We love to hike and snowboard together. We keep bees.
