Again Hem and family make this a good place to stay
Hem is a super nice person and we felt welcome in his house. Everything was perfect and his family was incredibly helpful and kind. We recommend other travellers to stay! Thanks hem !
I spent a very nice time at Hem's. The room was clean and comfortable.
Hem is a very welcoming host who will try to make your stay very pleasant.
I strongly recommend his place !
Hem informed me ONE day before I arrive in Kathmandu that it would be advisable to stay at a hotel instead of his place (which is understandable as i touched down at 1050pm which was quite late) despite us having come to an agreement months earlier. I ended up staying the last of 3 nights booked (1N non-refundable).
On that day, Hem was out of town so his brother and younger son played host. The room was spacious and quite comfortable. The greatest issue was the power cut that lasted until almost midnight.
Unfortunately couldn't meet Calvin when he came to my house but i believe my son Yash and Brother Sambhu will take care all guest in my absent as they did with Calvin too. By mutual understanding for 2 night refund and one night to host him i really appreciate his human nature. When i came back to home from my work and found Calving is very friendly and nice guy still keep talking about him by Yash and my brother. Hope to host him in next visit if i have chance.
Ah important note Power cut is not my individual problem but for the hole country as we have power cut 14 house a day. I hope i will manage for electricity for 24 house very soon.
Hem's place is traditional and simple but perfectly great for a short stay in Kathmandu. Hem's sons helped me get a new cell card and cash and arranged for a car to my next destination. The place is a steal for the price.
We lived in Hem's house for totally 5 nights. It is a beautiful red-brick detached house with two floors for living, a roof and a yard. It locates at 2km southwest of the international airport with a lot of neighbor houses. Hem and his children and relatives are typically Nepali family, they are helpful and kind. It was comfortable living in there.
It was convenient for us to reach Hem's house by a taxi from the international airport, approximately 2km away. The rooms were clean and quiet with sufficient hot water. Electricity was cut off sometimes, however it was not individual problem but of the whole country. There is a yellow dog kept in the yard which looks friendly and never make a sound. Hem's families gave us lots of information about Nepal, tourists attractions, shopping malls and local traffic. We hired a motorcycle and parked in their yard at nights. Safety was not a problem. It satified our basic needs very well. Living in Hem's house is definitely pleasant.
