These historic cabins are nestled into the rolling hills, overlooking the lake and private beach. The white "log" cabin sleeps up to two and the green cabin sleeps up to 4.

Please read our "other things to note" section for our Coronavirus response BEFORE BOOKING.

The space
Please note: the airbnb calendar is the most up-to-date record of avails, so pretty please do not contact us via email outside of airbnb asking about dates. Please also see our other listings on airbnb.

This listing is for 2 vintage cabins situated side by side, overlooking the lake and the Camp Wandawega private beach. In the green cabin, you’ll find a foyer with a bunk bed perfect for kiddos, adjacent to a bedroom with a full bed perfect for a single or a snuggly couple. This cabin has double glass doors that open up to a deck that leads right down to our beach. In our Log Cabin – the white one – we have one full bed perfect for a single or another snuggly couple. Together the spaces are a fun spot to intimately experience what Camp Wandawega has to offer.

PLEASE NOTE, the Side by Side Cabins do not have a bathroom or kitchen in them or attached. Guests will be assigned the facilities of whichever lodging is not being used: we will direct you to the appropriate facilities upon check-in. If the nearby old hotel/bunkhouse is not in use, that will be made available to you. Or it could be our own pantry kitchenette & staff bathroom/shower in the Lodge (where David, Tereasa & family live). You will also have as a camp cooking option your own picnic table, grill, and campfire pit, next to your cabins. There's also a mini-fridge inside the green cabin. And depending on which other accommodations are booked you might also be assigned to the "Camp Latrines" on the camping hilltop, a short walk away. They are clean, modern, hygienic "porta-potties". Another shower option could also be the adjacent open-air shower house, with a designated shower stall for your use. We have lots of options, so please be willing to be flexible; thanks for your understanding.

Like all of Camp Wandawega, it’s a back-to-basics, no-frills, primitive experience. Simple rooms, vintage furnishings. Access to camp restrooms and showers. For all intents and purposes, there is no heat & only a simple AC: we still prefer windows open, and a lake breeze. Please check the weather before you come, and bring an extra sleeping bag if it’s going to be chilly at night. If you think of it as "camping indoors" and come prepared for the weather, you'll be just fine. Remember, the fall and spring in WI can bring lows in the 30s!

Be aware that the photos are not 100% accurate, as things are always being moved around, redecorated, etc. but they are still indicative of the overall vibe. We strongly suggest you come for a tour before booking so you know exactly what you're getting. If you’re looking for fine lodging, look elsewhere: this is old-school cabin-living. If you’d like to see an unedited view of camp, simply search for us online to see us through the eyes of the many who have visited over the years.

To support the ongoing renovation of this historic property and the largely philanthropic camp activities, we are continuing the tradition of making a limited number of accommodations available for self-guided "friends-and-family" recreational camp programs. Admittedly, the price is expensive for the primitive nature of the accommodations, so please please please set your expectations accordingly. Remember, you're not just renting primitive lodging, you'll also have access to the grounds, private beach, woods, communal spaces like the treehouse, campfire pits, sports courts, boats, canoes, smokers, grills, etc.

What should I bring you ask? For starters, the camp basics. A few beach towels. Some Deep Woods Off. Sunscreen. And flip-flops. If you have a favorite blankie, sleeping bag, and pillow, bring them too, as I’m sure they’re comfier than what we have : ) As for food, we suggest that you shop local. Bring an empty cooler and fill it up at the Elkhorn Piggly Wiggly and Frank’s Liquors. Or Wilson Farm Meats in Elkhorn. Or Rushing Waters Fisheries in Palmyra. Or The Elegant Farmer. There’s plenty of local produce, meats, cheeses, beer, wine, and booze for appetites and budgets of all sizes. The nearby Mobil on Cty A has bait, food, wine, ice, booze and beer too. You’ll have access to grills (and campfires of course) and an old smoker we have on the grounds. Most of our friends and family live out of coolers when they’re here, grilling out, and frequenting local restaurants like Holi Canolli, Lake House, The Duck Inn, and Sperino’s.

Again, we are not a "proper" resort, so if you require an immediate response, lots of hand-holding, and attention to detail, then this just might not be the best fit for you. Before staying with us, request a copy of our “Manifesto of Low Expectations”. It will give you more insight into the casual, no-frills experience we’re offering. You’ve been warned : ) Thanks.

During your stay
We are often up at Camp on weekends, so perhaps we'll see you. We'll always have a local property manager on call should you need anything. In general, we leave our guests to their own devices, but are always happy to offer up suggestions of things to do, places to go, etc.
