The Space

This apartment is totally independent and not shared with anyone.

We are located 15 minutes to Manhattan.

If you were to stay in the Bronx it would take you 40 min to get to Times Square. If you were to Stay in Brooklyn it would take you the same amount of time as subways in Brooklyn are not direct. If you were to stay in Manhattan you would not find a place as big as this one for this price.

There are many buses going direct to the City in the heart of Times Square. 24/hrs bus services to the City. The bus stop is just around the corner from the house.

Transportation is probably underrated. There are about 3 -4 major bus routes which go along the cliff coming into port authority in about 20 min. There is a free bus to a ferry at the bottom of the cliff which comes round every 10 min. There are also the little jitney buses which come around every few minutes get you into town for about $3. So across the official NJ Transit, the little jitney buses and the ferry you can get into town at any time within about 20 min. Oh yes there is another bus into Hoboken from boulevard east (road on the cliff) as well.

The bus will take you to Port Authority 42nd St subway station (lines A, C, E). This station is a central subway hub and you can easily walk to lines 1, 2, 3, 7, N, Q and R. (Important: Subway tickets cost $2.5 per ride but you can buy 7-days unlimited pass at $29)

The apartment is an independent studio located on the garden level of a family house.

It is equipped with bed linens, towel and private bath.

The neighborhood is very safe and is located a block away from million dollar houses.

The house is located a block away from Avenue East when you will see breathtaking views of the City. Best panoramic view if you ask me.

  • Arriving was easy and the apartment was in lovely condition, very true to the pictures when we arrived, with all basics provided (towels, soap, air conditioner, condiments etc).
The apartment was in a nice area with supermarket and take-out places just a few minutes away.
Getting to Manhattan took between 15 and 25 minutes in bus/taxi depending on traffic. It was only $3 each way on the bus, but we found taxi costs varied dramatically at between $35 and $65 one way (+toll and tip).
Overall a lovely stay and the host was very kind and friendly. I would definitely recommend this flat for anyone staying in New York/New Jersey area.

  • We really enjoy our stay at Miyoko property. It was perfect. It was me & a group of friends (8 ppl total). We were very comfortable and it's very spacious & clean. The hostess was very nice and answered any questions we had. If and when I visit New York again, I'll be sure to check this property first for availability. It a very convenient location to a grocery store, bus, etc. 15 mins from Time Square depending on traffic. I'll recommend this property to anyone visiting New York. I want to Thank Miyoko, for making it feel like home away from home.

  • Place was actually nicer than we expected. Super comfortable and really cute neighborhood. Buses to/from NYC were super convenient and close. Beds were comfy and the tv was a nice bonus. The hosts were very accommodating, helped with baggage and gave us wifi password.

Warning - dont forget to bring your own soap (we forgot to we bought some and left it behind).

Thanks again for making out trip to comfortable!

  • Miyoko's space was perfect for my group of 6. It was the perfect size, clean and super cozy, and it was well stocked with everything we needed (extra toilet paper and lots of towels!). The kitchen was fully stocked with utensils and cookware. We only used a few things to slice fruit and bagels and make coffee for breakfast so we didn't need much.

The neighborhood is nice, there are a lot of shops (markets, places to eat, liquor stores) walking distance from the home. However, parking is horrible! We only had a rental car for one day (just to bring us from the airport) so the tenants let us use a space they saved, which was really nice of them. Also the tenants were really nice in general when we met them to get the keys.

It was really easy to get into the city during the day by bus. The bus stop is like a 2 minute walk from the house and buses come around pretty frequently. The longest we waited was probably 10 minutes. My group tended to stay in Manhattan far past midnight (2am~4am) so sometimes it was hard finding a taxi that was willing to take us back to NJ after the buses stopped running, but we were always able to get back safe and sound.

I totally recommend this for big groups. I recommend not having a car at all because parking is so bad but if you do use one, don't forget to return the parking permit they let you borrow.

I'm giving 4 stars because I had a lot of trouble parking the rental car for just one night. We lost the spot they saved us because we left to take a trip to Target and when we came back, someone had taken it. It took us half an hour to an hour to find another spot a couple blocks away (about a 10 minute walk). Save yourself the trouble and don't park a car there. Otherwise it would be 5 stars.

  • Stayed from late April to beginning May 2014. The good points; very clean and comfortable, a real home from home, the parking permit in the New York City area was essential for our stay and as it came free it was a massive bonus and in all good value for money (we stayed 5 days). The bad points; there is no way that this accommodation (despite the good New Jersey bus service) is 15mins from Times Square - expect to pay $6 per person return on top of any Manhattan travel and forget about travelling in rush hour. The basement flat is not at all soundproofed and we could hear the neighbour's footsteps, dog and phones vibrating.

  • The 3 nights stay were awesome! Very comfortable, quiet and cozy! No concerns at all. No problem with parking. The host walked us through the place and explained everything and we had several questions about the area and answers were given immediately! I would recommend this place absolutely! The beds were very comfortable and bedsheets and comforters were clean and nice!

  • First off, Miyoko was extremely helpful throughout the entire process. As for the apartment, it was exactly what I expected. Me and 2 others stayed in here and saved a ton while not sacrificing the quality of where we stayed. It was exactly like the picture and we were rarely there so it for all of our needs. The only downsides I can think of were it was difficult to get to being unfamiliar with New York but after a couple of trips from Port Authority we didn't have a trouble. The apt was also very cold but we were able to adjust the heat without a problem. 5 stars, would definitely recommend to anyone and would stay again!

  • The appartment was very spacious, clean and had a nice bathroom. The location is perfect. It's only 15-20 minutes to central New York (if you're not traveling during rush hour) and it's great to leave the busy city if you want to sleep. Even though the apartment is very bigt, we practically only used the kitchen room.

So I would definately recommend the place, but there's one downside. The heater makes a lot of noise. We did not find it too anoying, but I can imagine it could be bothersome for some people. Also, you can hear every footstep the people upstairs make. However, it was usually quiet when we wanted to sleep and the people from upstairs were very friendly.

  • Very Roomy. Nice area and great view from bottom of the street. Very grateful for the wepcome we got when checking in. Very Clean and Well equipped with all the necessities you can need better than a hotel. However the Cons now : If you plan on staying in the house beware of the noise you will encounter I think it's fear that someone in the review at least give you a fair warning I'm like the warning that we received in the messages / reviews that warns nothing of this. Above you the first floor of their house those tenants must have a dog for a bunch of kids because you'll hear footsteps wild ones running back and forth and it's not quite its loud you can hear it over the TV when I call to address this I had not received any reply by phone when calling it's better just to email because you won't get a response difficult I guess. She said she addressed the issue that we had with this yet it still occurred. From my understanding is that they have a dog upstairs and that's what the running back and forth was and I will give it to you it was new years but still the days before the New Years it was still with loud as it was on New Years. For delivery wise it also is annoying we didn't have a car so we really didn't go out to eat that much unless we were in the City of New York and we just ate there but other than that if you have food delivered to the house it was a pest due to upstairs not allowing you to be notified if someone's at the door because they don't want to answer it the day that we showed up we had to ring the doorbell like 4 to 6 times. Also there are days that we wanted to go talk to the host and we could hear someone upstairs what day would never come to the door only rang the bell even tried calling the number that was provided with never received a call back. When we did call Miyoko it would take her about anywhere from 6 to 12 hours to answer my question or my inquiry. Also due to the time of our visit the weather conditions were icy cold in the stairs to the door we're very slippery I would advise and would like some kind of a Mat down because we almost slept more than 4 times I slipped my first day going in I was warned but I didn't think it was going to be that bad and I felt but besides that was fine. Other than those cones the house / studio was amazing w at the end of the street I love didn't to plenty of pictures they are the bus was local house is very clea overall on a scale of 10 I would give...
