About This Listing
A lovely, beautiful, clean one bedroom cottage located on the desirable Westside of Santa Cruz. It comfortably fits two-four people and is located on a quiet street. Enjoy a brand new kitchen, bed and living space with a private back yard.
*Please read the details in it's entirety. Probably ALL of you questions will be answered here.
*We prefer the weekends to be 2 day rentals. If you are looking for one, you can send a request. Thanks!!
Enjoy a completely private cottage detached from our home that is driving or walking distance to the beach, downtown, boardwalk and the desirable westside wineries, restaurants and bakeries. We are also close to awesome mountain biking trails, the best surf, road riding, running trails (pogonip) and much more!
The cottage has a separate kitchen (brand new!), bathroom and one large spacious room with high ceilings and everything you need!
• Brand new comfortable queen bed
• Private bathroom with walk in shower
• High speed internet connection (if you have problems, please message me)
• Keurig coffee maker or french press, coffee, tea assortment
• Flat-screen plasma TV w/ basic cable
• Full refrigerator, stove, toaster oven
• Hairdryer, shampoo and conditioner
• Complimentary neighborhood parking pass
• Beach chairs on request
• Eco friendly products
• Couch and chairs for your comfort
-Washer and Dryer (washer is a front loader and gets some mildew on gasket, still works fine) **Some of the mildew will NEVER come off. It's not bad, but does have a little odor. I clean it frequently with "refresh" and a scrub of the gasket. It needs to remain open after use for the water to dry. If this is a problem for you, then this is not the rental for you. Again it's minor.
-And aerobed for extra guests.
**there is only one bed in the cottage, the aerobed is set up for guests over 2 in the same space as the main bed.
**Note: again the kitchen and the bathroom are separate and the main living area is one, spacious room. Therefore, if there are 4 of you, you will ALL be in the same room.
The main yard is shared with our family and includes a swing set.
Interaction with Guests
The cottage is set up for you to come and go as you please. We interact with you as much as you want (or as little). It's set up to be self sustainable.
The cottage is on the property of the main house and we are generally present during your stay. We are a family of four, so you will often see us roaming around our back yard playing, gardening or BBQing.
The neighborhood is quaint and quiet and is located in the desirable Westside of Santa Cruz. Downtown is just a 10 minute beautiful walk. We are located minutes from the UCSC campus as well!
The bus stops are very close...

The cottage is very nice and cozy as the announce says. Beth was very nice as a host. The cottage is very very well equipped! Moreover, it is very close to the town center. Beth leaves some recommendations of places to eat/go which are very good. We have gone to 2 or 3 of the places she recommended and it was all very good.
Beth's space is a paradox. Inside, all is lovely and comfortable. The kitchen is great and the bed has high-end linens. However, there is no private backyard as advertised. There is the short end of the L-shaped backyard, which her children ran by several times and during the short time we were present in the evening, a man also walked by. At breakfast, we were startled by her two-year old son peering in the window at us. So, I can recommend this place only to people who are traveling with children, and want a kid-friendly space a 5-minute drive to the Boardwalk. But if you're looking for romantic privacy, look elsewhere.
I apologize that you did not feel the privacy you were looking for. However, there is a small private yard, that is separated by a shrub like fence. I am also sorry about my son "peering" in the window, that is rare, and we are always outside with them. He's actually not even tall enough to look in the window.
Our storage shed is in the back of the property and occasionally we need to go back there to grab something, there is no intent of scaring people and it's actually private and out of the way of the tenants.
We have had NUMEROUS couples come and stay and have enjoyed a private, romantic getaway with wonderful access to downtown and wineries. With NO complaints.
I would also like to point out that I allowed this party to check in early, use our beach chairs, have their son play in our yard and with our toys.
I really disagree with this review and who the cottage is ideal for (I feel that is ideal for everyone). Our goal is to be as descriptive as possible in our advertisement, we have NO intent of fooling anyone. I am also very receptive to communication, so if something isn't working for you, please call, text or knock on my door.
We stayed for one night with our 2.5-year old and before we arrived Beth had set up an airbed that worked great for him. It was also really convenient to be able to use the swingset and kids toys in the yard (the cottage is in the backyard of Beth's house). Parking was easy (plenty of open spots on the street and Beth provides guests with a parking pass), the bed was comfortable, and even as essentially a studio the cottage was spacious.
Your cottage is very comfortable. Clean and very quiet, especially for being about 5 minutes from downtown Santa Cruz.
Great spot! Beth was such a fantastic host. Very family friendly cottage, accommodated our last minute booking, house had all of the essentials in the kitchen and bath that we needed.
About the Host, Beth
I am easy going and friendly. I love to play, cook, travel, hang with my family and spend time outdoors.
When I travel I have loved staying at other peoples "casitas" seeing and learning how others live. I think it's the best way to see what the town has to offer. There's nothing better than getting information from a local!
I live in the main house with my husband and 2 kids. We are very respectful of you and your space, and require the same from our guests. We are often outside playing and enjoying the day.
We look forward to meeting you!
