Hermann's place was a very private and safe house. Two of our bedrooms were on a completely different floor, which you had to go outside to access. We weren't able to check in on time, due to previous guests staying longer, which was inconvenient. No drinking water and very little toilet paper, so we had to go shopping. We had no heat, and we're charged 5 Sol's for firewood, which I think should have been free due to the late check in. The upstairs floors are very noisy, so you can hear anyone walking upstairs, just the way the house was built I guess. The neighborhood itself was very nice and local, not touristy at all, which we loved! Everything closes very early though, around 6pm, but we still loved the environment. Hermann was responsive and helped as much as he could (was out of town during stay). Overall we had a great stay, but I'm not sure I would stay here again.

Beautiful peaceful house in Calca with wonderful views. Very clean and well equipped with cooking utensils, warm bedding and showers, and possibility of using a washing machine and fireplace. If you require any help with anything the housekeepers will always be willing to provide it. The host is also very helpful. Easy to find following instructions provided, feels quite secluded yet still a short walk from the centre of the village. The house is not completely private and cut off as there are housekeepers and an adjoining house, however we never felt bothered by it and privacy is still assured. Would definitely recommend and would love to have the opportunity to visit again.

Great host and communication. Excellent location to explore Sacred Valley.. Lovely house and garden. Great for our family of 7 - we took the whole house - but be aware upstairs access is via an outside staircase.

It's a nice house, very clean and the town of Calca is quaint and immaculate. It's a good place to get acclimated if you're going to trek up at the higher altitudes. Cusco is not the best place to get acclimated...Calca and the Sacred Valley is a better choice. There is a bus station located at the end of the long street from Hermann's house. It was convenient. I would recommend this house to other travelers.

The house was beautiful with wonderful views. Hermann was there to meet us. Paulina was always available and very helpful when we needed her. One morning we didn't have any water but Hermann rectified that quickly. The toilets run so you always have to check those after you flush or the water tank for the house will empty. The beds and pillows were super comfy. Whenever we needed Hermann to get us a driver he always responded promptly. Two restaurants Hermann reccommended never opened for the 5 nights we were there, so I can't comment on them. We always walked to the Plaza de Armas for dinner which was always chicken because there wasn't a lot of choice. There is a small grocery store there also. The square is about a 10-15 min walk from the house. We very often ate grilled chicken and beef on a stick for 1 sole each. A quarter chicken dinner with fries and soup was 13 - 14 soles. We really enjoyed our stay there.
