Hernamm and Angela were incredibly kind, helpful, and responsive to questions. They were available if we needed them and checked in with us regularly via phone but gave us plenty of privacy. The house was better than expected in lovey Calca, and the garden was still in bloom in the winter when we visited. The kitchen is well-stocked with pots, pans, dishes, and everything you need to make a really good meal. The neighbors are friendly and food and other necessities are close by. As a bonus, the house is located only a few minutes' walking from the main terminal, making it easy to take collectivos / shared buses from Calca to Pisac, Urubamba, Ollantaytambo and Cusco for very little cost. I already miss Hermann, Angela and the house!
What a great experience staying in Calca! The house is modern, clean, and well appointed and sits on a quiet end street. It is close to several small tiendas to grab water, sodas, or beer and a short walk from the plazas to go to larger tiendas. You can also easily walk to the main market and the main transportation station. Beds are comfy and warm and the hot water was great. The garden is cozy and extremely tranquil. Hermann was a great host and the onsite caretaker is a friendly fellow and I recommend it if you have time in Calca.
Note: there is great hiking nearby but you should get a guide. Ask Hermann to put you in touch with Rafael at Ouachuman. Rafe is a fantastic and knowledge guide.
My Family and I enjoyed once again the visit of the sacred valley, staying at Hermann's house suited us perfectly and Hermann was able to help us with transport, meals, visits, etc...we very much appreciated his hospitality and friendliness. We will certainly be back to his house to continue the visit of the Sacred Valley!
The setting is spectacular, the house is spacious and beautiful, and Hermann and Angela are kind and gracious hosts. Calca is a lovely little town--close to everything, and while not a lot of amenities, also not a lot of tourists. This was one of the best stays we have ever had and we were sorry to leave.
Hermann was a great host who went out of his way to be helpful. All in all we had a nice time: lovely to be in the Sacred Valley and to have a bit of peace and quiet - a welcome break from Lima. The garden was well kept.

About the Host, Hermann
