Extra spacious

Guests love this home’s spaciousness for a comfortable stay.
Nestled in the quiet woods just north of Mt. Monadnock our cozy one bedroom apartment invites the outdoors in with peeks of the mountain through the trees. Sit out on your private deck and enjoy the view or stroll around the yard and pick a few blueberries in season.
We welcome hikers, nature lovers, those visiting friends or family or just wanting to enjoy the area's beautiful scenery and many artistic venues.
I like to think of it as a peaceful sanctuary that we'd like to share with you.

The space
The guest apartment is part of our home but it is completely private and has it's own entry and private deck. So, you don't have to say hello whenever you come and go (unless you'd like to, of course:) If you have questions and either Sterling or I are there you are welcome to just knock on our door ( next door) and if we are gone, I am usually available to receive a text or call.
You may just enjoy sitting out on the deck to get your fresh air and view but you are welcome to the yard and to stroll through the garden. We have a parking space reserved for guests.
We only advertise one bedroom but there is a long couch (not a pullout with a bed) in the living room as well that is pretty comfortable for a child. I keep extra bedding in the bedroom closet. We have a pack and play if you need it.
We also have a guestroom with its own patio down the stairs from the apartment. My family visits occasionally so I don't advertise it but if you need another queen bed you can let me know and, if it is available, you are welcome. (We charge an extra $50 a night for that.)
If you like to cook, the kitchen has the basics: stove, refrigerator, utensils, a few condiments and spices. Let me know if you need anything you can't see there.
The apartment has a coffee station. You can have the option of the Kuerig if you are in a hurry for coffee in the morning (like me) or there is a coffee maker so that you can make yourself a pot. I usually try to have eggs and something baked on hand so you don't have to rush off for breakfast.
I hope you can relax and enjoy your stay!

Guest access
Guests are welcome to the yard and gardens. We also have a fire pit that guests are welcome to. We have a great view of Mt Monadnock from the fire pit area. Just ask and we’ll gladly supply enough wood for your stay (and marshmallows if we have them:)

Other things to note
Sterling is a hiker with a wealth of information for any hiking or biking trails in the area.

Neighborhood highlights

When we first moved here over 35 years ago I wasn't sure I could handle the quiet, town girl that I was. But I love it and, after a busy day, it is such a peaceful place to come back to. My favorite spot in the summertime is on the deck for dinner. The apartment has it's own deck and I think most guests enjoy their warm evenings there.
There are lots of walkers who enjoy this road and a few cars hauling boats but, even after all these years, it remains a peaceful and quiet spot. Just a mile and a half down the road is Dublin Lake and Stone Pond is about that distance in the other direction. Howe Reservoir is nearby as well. Bring your kayak and watch the sunset from the middle of the lake and enjoy a spectacular view of the mountain. If you are a hiker or even an aspiring one we are not too far from trails up Mt. Monadnock and the Sunapee Trail. In the winter there are lots of cross country or snow shoe trails not far from us.
Friendly Farm is a great place for children and it's just a 6 minute drive away. The towns around us have lots of activities too numerous to list but we are centrally located to the best the area has to offer... Peterborough Players, Apple Hill Chamber Music (where you can sit outside and enjoy a picnic while being serenaded,) Art Shows, Museums, Concerts, Great Restaurants and Shopping. I try to keep local information up to date in a folder on your coffee table.

Living where we are we can’t help but enjoy the beauty around us and spending time outdoors. Sterling, especially, enjoys climbing a mountain or hiking a trail whenever his busy schedule as a builder allows. We enjoy getting together with our family and friends and look forward to hosting new ones.
