Light-filled, comfortable 2 bedroom/1 bath flat close to the beach in the Malvarrosa neighborhood of Valencia. Air Conditioning, Internet/WIFI, very equipped kitchen. We do everything we can to help our guests enjoy their stay in Valencia.

The Space

Sunny 2 bedroom apartment in Valencia, Spain just blocks from la Malvarrosa beach. Why stay in a hotel when you can enjoy the conveniences of our furnished and fully-equipped flat in Valencia's Malvarrosa neighborhood? Rent our apartment for as few as 3 nights or as long as a month or more while you explore Valencia. There is a queen size bed in one bedroom and a twin/trundle in another. The living room futon also opens to a full size bed.

In addition to providing you with all of the sheets and towels for your stay, our flat has books for adults and children to read in multiple languages. Our family collection is a mix of Spanish and English but our guests have left German, Ukranian and Russian books. We have some small beach toys for the children as well as some puzzles and games to play with.

Our combined living/dining space is a large open room with a nice western view. From the small balcony (really just large enough to hang laundry or stand and enjoy the view or possibly sit with a chair) you can see the sun set, watch the children play soccer in a private school yard or look out onto the street Gran Canaria.

The apartment is on the 3rd floor of a residential building and is just a block from retail shops, on the same block as a tourism office and just steps away from many bus lines to take you anywhere in Valencia including la Ciudad de las Artes y Ciencias (city of arts and sciences) or la Ciudad Vieja (theold town) The beach is just four blocks away and is great spot to hunt for sea glass, have a drink or swim - at least from May - November!

If you are interested in seaglass/beach glass, please let me know and I'll give you some detailed instructions on where I find my best pieces!

My family spent a year living in Valencia and although we no longer live there, we visit several times per year. I have helped my former tenants/renters plan their vacations, choose Spanish language schools and even register their children for school during their sabatticals in Valencia.

One of the things that drew me to the Malvarrosa neighborhood was that it still maintains many of the traditional aspects of Valencia. Valenciano is still spoken in the streets and it almost seems a bit more like a summer village that is part of Valencia.

It is one of the best communicated parts of Valencia in terms of bus service. There are at least 7 bus routes that go through the neighborhood including the 1, 2, 19, 31 and 32. There are also several night and/or summer bus routes marked by N that go through.

It's also a great place to get meals to go. On calle Gran Canaria as well as calle Mendizobal, you can pick up paella, croquetas, pollo asado (roast chicken), bacalao (cod) for a fraction of the cost of what you would pay in a restaurant. You can also find very well priced "menu del dia" at the local restaurants. Best of all, the beach is always just a few blocks away.

The worse thing about Valencia has got to be that many dog owners still do not clean up after their pets. This appears to happen more frequently in Valencia than in other cities in Spain and it makes me crazy. If I could change it, I would. Please take care with you and your children when you walk.

In addition to renting our apartment, we also rent when we travel. I think you will find our kitchen and our apartment in general to be one of the best equipped. We do our best to leave you a little welcome basket or fresh fruit and a Spanish bottle of wine. If there is something that you think we need, please let me know.

I hope you enjoy your stay!

Guest Access

Guests will have access to everything in the apartment except for a small trunk that is locked with personal items. This will be your home during your stay in Valencia.

Interaction with Guests

I'm an email or phone call away. If I'm not available, Luis, Erika or Carmen are on call to help with any emergencies that might come up.

Other Things to Note

I like to leave shampoo, soap, paper products and any other household products that you might need on a daily basis. If you are a longer term guest (more than 1 week) please be considerate and either replace these items as they run out or at least leave enough for the next guest.

  • The apartment is nicely situated near the beach (about 5 minutes by foot) in a popular but nice district. The apartment itself is very well furnished and convenient, in a clean building. This is ideal for 3 to 5 people.

To reach the city center (and all the pubs, restaurants, ...) is not immediate : it is several kilometers from the apartment and one must take bus or taxi (there are night buses but we took taxis after midnight). Free-service bikes are suprisingly expensive (13 euros/day) unless we did not understand how to have a cheaper option.

About the owner Emily, I must say she has been considerably flexible and understanding, concerning the short notice for renting given by us. The person helping her in giving the keys and checking in/out has been very kind and flexible with our very late hour of arrival and very early hour of departure ! Thanks again !

  • The flat was very comfortable and very reasonably priced. It's very accesible via the metro and tram lines and handy for beach access. Emily was very accommodating and I'm very grateful for her help.

  • Lovely and clean apartment in an ideal location for the beach, as well as close to a bus to the city centre. Emily is a great host - great at communicating and offering advice on where to go in Valencia, and Louis, who manages the apartment, is also very helpful. We were greeted upon arrival with a bottle of wine and a fruit bowl which was a wonderful welcome! I recommend this apartment to anyone wishing to stay close to the beach but with good access to the city.

  • We - family of three - rented Emily's place for four weeks and can just join the club of satisfied customers. Emily's advices and quick and helpful responses are of great help, and her right hand in Valencia, Luis, is also excellent! The neighbourhood is quiet, feels safe and gave us a "village feeling". Really very nice, with all you need of basic shopping, cerveza and cafe con leche nearby, not to mention the beautiful beach area. And our daughter loved the huge range of playgrounds to choose between.
The only drawback is the dirty streets and occasional terrible smell from the sewer, but that is problems linked to more areas in Valencia than just this.

  • We loved the apartment, it's clean and quiet. The apartment had everything we needed. Only district Malvaroza is not as clean as downtown. Loved having a supermarket close to the appartment.
Emily is an excellent host. She quickly responded to all questions. Thanks to Luis for the hospitality, he's very friendly and positive man.
Recommend the apartment to all, an excellent choice for a reasonable price!

  • Emily is the most amazing host! Her communication is impeccable, prompt, and honest. Whenever I had a question she responded immediately and was extremely helpful. Very impressed seeing as we haven't met!

Luis met us and was very helpful too. We left a few items there and Em and Luis were so gracious in posting them back to London. Amazing service thank you!

We were greeted with chilled red wine and a fruit bowl and that vino went down very well with the heat I tell you! ;)

The intimate apartmento is very close to the supermercado, lil bars and easy access to taxis which we caught into town, about 15 minutes away.
Fantastic air con in one room and once the air con is upgraded in lounge room that will make a big difference (and this will happen after our visit). Lots of fans so that was good. The excellent service provided by Emily more than made up for this though and you won't find a better host!

Thank you for being terrific host, we greatly appreciate it!
    Warmest,
    Amber ;)

  • DO NOT STAY HERE! Now I have to pay additional 150 EUR!

We were at this apartments for 20 days, after we have a check out (witch was with Emily's employee and everything was OK) she blame us that we broke air condition and many other things we haven't done. The furniture and technical equipment are very old, and if something brakes be ready to pay for it!

    Disadvantages:
    1) Constant smell of sewage in the flat. From the toilet and from the street.
    2) Criminal district, taxi driver said to us that couple years ago they do not drive into this district! Also somebody stole money from our baby carriage(!) on the ladder inside the building.
    3) Dirty streets.
    4) Dusty flat. The flat was very dusty when we arrived. So we had to clean everything by ourselves, we even by a new swab, because the old one was very dirty.
    5) Not for allergic people. Pillows and blankets are very dusty.
    6) Noisy bedroom. Neighbors are very noisy, especially in the mornings. Be ready to get up at 6-7 o'clock.
    7) Smoking prohibited by the owner EVEN ON THE BALCONY - now we have to pay 150 EUR fine for that. It was not mentioned in house rules.
    8) You are always spying by neighbors.

    Advantages:
    1) Not far from the sea.

Owner asked me not to write a review but I think I must do it to prevent this outrage. So to not have problems STAY AWAY FROM THIS FLAT.

    Response from Emily:

Ilya's was the very first deposit I have held in the 5+ years that we have rented our home. Yes, our apartment is non-smoking and if Ilya had smoked on the balcony and not flicked his ashes on the clothes below, or threw his cigarette butts below, or if his children had not spilled an entire ashtray full of butts onto the neighbor's balcony below, it probably would not have caused so much attention.

When guests break items, they typically tell us and occasionally they replace the item, but it is never a big deal. When there are several large items broken with no mention of it, there is a problem.

Years ago (like 10+) some streets in the neighborhood were considered unsafe and occasionally a taxi driver will mention that. That is no longer the case. However, I would not recommend keeping money in a stroller unattended anywhere in Spain unfortunately.

Streets are dirty in Valencia and in general there is a fair amount of dust that can enter the apartment when windows are open. Families typically sweep every day for that reason. I myself am allergic to dust and do not have a problem in the apartment.

The "desagues" or sewer gas smell that is mentioned can be a problem in all of Valencia at different times throughout the year and can be worse in the neighborhoods near the sea depending on a variety of factors including tides and rains. It exists even in more central Valencian neighborhoods, on high floors and even in luxury apartments.

Ilya rented our apartment and even wrote me emails about his experience there when it turns out he had gone back to Russia and another guest was in his place. He was however completely sneaky about this in addition to everything else.

The vast majority of my guests have been honest and respectful of my home. I can not say the same about Ilya.

I have young children, teach Spanish part time and love to collect seaglass and make jewelry with it.
About
I love Spain, travel, good food and wine. Hunting for beach glass is one of my favorite things to do when I'm in Valencia. When I'm not busy with my family and children, I make jewelry from the seaglass I find.
