Our stay at Joanne and Doug's beautiful studio was absolutely perfect! They were incredibly kind and thoughtful, gave us wonderful recommendations and made our stay even better that we imagined it could be. They even baked us some of the most delicious banana bread I've ever had - just because.
-The studio is very comfortable and well appointed, with everything you need.
- The kitchen has everything you could want to make delicious meals when you just don't want to leave the house.
-The hot tub was fantastic - I loved the fact that they always had it readily accessible and preheated so you could enjoy the spa whenever you wanted.
-The grounds were immaculate - I definitely recommend that you ask Doug for a tour - we learned a ton!
- When neighbors unexpectedly started working on construction project with loud banging in the morning, we woke up to a sweet note of apology and a lovely bottle of champagne from Doug and Joanne - very thoughtful of them
-Their knowledge of the area was very helpful - all of their recommendations were spot on.
-They were very responsive on email, and absolutely dedicated to making sure you had the best possible stay.
Thanks for everything!
We haven't even been home 2 weeks and we can't stop talking about our experience at Joanne & Doug's beautiful place in Sebastopol! They are warm and friendly hosts that spared no details on making sure we were, not just comfortable, but spoiled! From the local welcome treats upon arrival to the abundance of local knowledge & recommendations, Joanne & Doug are true advocates of Sonoma County... and for great reason!
We were able to use their clean & comfortable space as a home base and explore the surrounding county on our bikes. There is so much around to see and do... and taste! Their beautiful pool provided a peaceful sanctuary for some post-ride relaxing and it certainly helped that it overlooked a perfectly manicured private vineyard!
First class airbnb accommodation that we look forward to returning to in the near future!
Thanks again Joanne & Doug.

Doug and Joanne were wonderful hosts. Not only was the location beautiful, comfortable, relaxing and perfect for our vacation, but their hospitality and attention to detail were so much appreciated. Joanne sent us details about Sebastapol before the trip and then they also had recommendations for us when we arrived - plus a bottle of wine and snacks for the kitchen. It was such a great stay, and we'd recommend this over a hotel/resort any day. Not to mention, the location is great when exploring all parts of Sonoma County (the coast, all wineries, redwood forests, etc.). Doug and Joanne were amazing, and we can't wait to visit them again!
My husband and I couldn't have picked a better spot for our wine country/hiking experience! Joanne and Doug provided great insider knowledge and recommendations about Sebastopol and surrounding spots right from the get-go 'til the end of our trip. The entire property is just gorgeous, and our private oasis with the deck overlooking the vineyards exceeded our expectations in size and comfort! We loved having a luxurious home base and easy walking and/or driving access to lovely, and growing, Sebastopol. There is also a beautiful, well-maintained jogging/biking trail just down the street that we really enjoyed. We highly recommend this lovely wine country studio and the hospitality of Joanne and Doug!
Perfect! Joanne and Doug's immaculate studio, located within walking distance to an adorable town center, was the ideal place to land for our cycling vacation. The studio is spacious and bright with a perfect balcony overlooking the vines. They were incredibly warm and welcoming (including leaving us treats in the fridge and a bottle of wine on the table). The property is spectacular and pristinely maintained. The hot tub was the icing on the cake. It sits peacefully looking out over the vines with the mountains in the distance. The amenities were all top-notch. Joanne and Doug were friendly, gracious, and had tons of great suggestions for making the most out of our stay. It was incredibly relaxing, comfortable and beautiful. We will be back!
Wow. Wow... wow! We had a perfect stay. When we arrived, we met Joanne, checked in, and she gave us a map of the area and made us feel comfortable.
In the studio we were greeted with truffles, grapes, beer in the fridge, and a bottle of wine. The place is impeccable and the pictures really don't do it justice. There's a private deck overlooking the vineyard!
In the studio is everything you need: a coffee maker (stocked with local coffee), tea, a fridge (with ice packs for your winery adventures!), kitchen area with everything you'll need, TV w/ DirectTV... this place is bomb.
Can it get any better? Yes! There's a sweet hot tub. After a long day of activities, we threw on the robes (provided by Joanne & Doug), turned on the hot tub, and gazed at the stars for a bit. The view is amazing.
While in Sebastopol we visited about 10 wineries, but we also checked out some of the other local spots. A few favorites:
-California Carnivores. must see; visit during the spring/summer if you can, who knew there were carnivorous plants living in the Boston area? We plan to hunt for one. (website hidden)
-Renga Arts / Florence Avenue. Features work by Patrick Amiot and other upcyclers. Make sure to walk to Florence Avenue some morning. (website hidden)
-Sonoma Canopy Tours. Seriously awesome... features an 800m zipline, fun guides, super pro/safe. (website hidden)
As far as wine goes, there are literally hundreds of choices. A couple close by:
-Fred Scherrer at Scherrer Winery about 5m from the place. Very unique experience. Fred and his wife Judi are wonderful people. No views here, but a wine drinker's paradise. (website hidden)
-Red Car. Super fun tasting room, great staff. (website hidden)
And here's a good day trip which takes you inland to some truly beautiful spots:
1. Porter Creek in Healdsberg. Jonathan is an awesome dude. Love his wine pronuncian flash cards. Must visit. (website hidden)
2. VML (down the street). Incredible views, beautiful garden, large tasting room. (website hidden)
3. De La Montanya. Jared took time out of his day to show us around and teach us a bit about winemaking. Highly recommended. (website hidden)
4. DaVero. This place is unlike any other. Italian style wines, fantastic olive oil and balsamic vinaigrette. The staff is super, super friendly. Take a tour of the farm. (website hidden)
We stayed at Joanne and Doug's studio for Thanksgiving week. Beautiful spot! it is the best of both worlds- a quiet spot in a vineyard with easy access to a trail that leads right to downtown Sebastobol with great shops and restaurants! Very enjoyable. highly recommend.
If you are going to Sebastopol, you already know how wonderful the area is. A stay with Joanne and Doug with make it glorious. As perfect hosts, they have anticipated every detail to make your stay comfortable. And the view from your balcony of the grape vines in their back yard and the mountains beyond remind you that you are in Sonoma County, with the earth’s bounty at your feet. My husband and I spent 2 weeks there and found the location ideal: you can easily walk to Sebastopol and take advantage of the restaurants and shops, the Farmers Market on Sundays cannot be missed, and the local wine tasting accessible, even in town! Joanne and Doug’s warm hospitality make you feel that you are not only visiting “God’s country” but meeting two of its most caring residents. You will feel so happy to be there that the worst part of the stay is the need to leave! I strongly urge you to enjoy the experience too. You won’t regret it and will return home with much more than simply a good bottle of wine but great memories and some new friendships too.
A dream in the midst of the Wine Country!
Such a lovely place and Joanne and Doug were just such nice and generous hosts!
Our honeymoon in California couldn't have ended any better.
Absolutely recommendable. Would love to go again right away!
I really can't say enough nice things about Joanne and Doug, and their home. First - the amazing pictures really can't show how beautiful this place is until you're actually there. Inside it's very clean and super cozy, absolutely perfect for a quiet get-away. It's above a detached garage, away from the house and very private. We stored our bikes inside the garage which was nice.
Joanne and Doug went out of their way to put together a vacation experience complete with a guide book of local attractions, menus, and some personal reviews making it really easy to get the most out of a trip to Sebastapol. I've done several other airbnb experiences - and given them 5 stars, but this place really deserves 5+.
Definitely plan to stay here again.
