Conveniently located in the capital of Dominica, Roseau (overlooking a river), Narakiel’s Inn is a two-floor walk-up which offers stylish, comfortable accommodations, at affordable prices. Narakiel's serves as a wonderful base for accessing all of the local sites and adventures that Dominica has to offer as it allows for easy access to the island’s major attractions.
This listing is for a Standard Room. The room is well equipped with air conditioning, ceiling fan, private bath with hot water, FREE wireless Internet access, microwave, coffee maker with coffee/tea, refrigerator, cable TV, glasses/mugs, linens/towels, dual voltage and much more. The room rate listed is based on double occupancy and includes a 6% service charge/processing fee. This rate is approximately $10 higher during our high peak season which runs from October through April.
The Inn also contains a studio and a two-bedroom each of which includes a fully equipped kitchenette with everything needed to prepare and serve meals, along with the amenities listed above.
Narakiel's Inn is located within a few minutes walk away from the city center, including the Roseau Ferry Terminal, the Financial Center building, stores, restaurants, the National Stadium, bus stops for buses which travel all around the island, the main fruit and vegetable market, supermarkets, etc.
Narakiel's is a particularly great choice for the traveler who not only prefers smaller, "bed and breakfast-like" accommodations, in a comfortable, clean environment but also greatly values personalized attention and a central, convenient location, at a reasonable price.
We also work with several reliable, reasonably-priced independent local taxi services, tour guide operators and car rental companies and offer assistance to our guests with setting up airport/ferry taxi pickup and drop off, car rental arrangements, tour guide/tour packages etc. If you are interested in tours, we would be happy to assist you in planning out your time so as to maximize the number of sites (activities) that you can see during your stay.
Narakiel's Inn is a Non-Smoking facility and has a two-night minimum stay policy for all reservations.
The room was nice and clean and it's very well situated, 2 minutes away from the centre (walking). The kitchen had everything we could possibly need and it's very helpful that you can have a local mobile phone during your stay. We had wifi and a very nice balcony where we could have breakfast etc. The air conditioning was extremely noisy but working.
The manager (Richard) I'm sorry but I have to say it, is the most unfriendly person we found on the island by far. He would scream at us for every reason imaginable: us not finding the place and calling him for help; having been waiting for us all morning (interesting since they make sure you know check in is after 3 PM and this is carefully specified); not be willing to book a guided tour cause we prefered to manage on our own, as we had the days before; well he was from there and he knew better.
I think we are very easy going people and don't even care as much for the place as for the people and the human side. We have lived in the Caribbean and travelled a little bit and never ever had anyone treat us like that.
Even if it was a palace I wouldn't even think of staying there again, not even for free. I don't want to go through every detail. You can check the other negative reviews on tripadvisor and my advice is to never ever go there.
The room is not big, but nice and clean. Located in the south part of Dominica, many sites are easily accesible by car.
I want to say a lot of good words about manager Richard. He is absolutely friendly and helpful host. Helped me with all my needs, provided me with guides and tours, helped with car rentals, gave a lot of good advices about what sites to visit, how to get there and so on. Thanks to Richard my stay in Dominica was very easy, and I had no problems at all.
The place is very near Roseau's city center and accessible by foot arriving from the port. The guesthouse is clean and rooms are ok, with warm water, air conditioning and a small fridge and kettle, so you can arrange some little meal and breakfast. One thing I would like to make notice of is moving around and transportation in Dominica. We decided not to rent a car as we usually do because of the driving on the left that we are not used to and also because of the bad roads Dominica is famous for. Our guidebook was mentioning the chance of visiting Dominica by local transportation wich especially for people like us having just a few days wouldn't make it easy (buses go around without a time schedule and our host told us that if you want to move from one turistic destination to another you always have to come back to Roseau, so you loose lots of time). Our host was available to take us around obviuosly being generously payed for this service. Don't know if arrangements with private buses or vans can be cheaper or more expensive, I would reccomend you to check the point "moving around" out before you go. Roseau is a small capital and quite neat during the day, but in the evenings me and my husband actually didn't feel so safe going around alone, so it was frustrating not to be able to live the whole experience completely immerging ourselves in the local life. As a tourist I think local people mostly see you as a cow you should milk money out before the tourist leaves, also because Roseau is used to get lot of cruises and so tourists might stay only for 1 day. Friends of us that have spent their holiday in Portsmouth told us the place was much nicer and that they felt safer going around alone, and they also managed to rent a car and arrange things on their own. Dominica is a beautiful wild natural island that deserves to be visisted, I think it's just very important to know few things and get them arranged before going!
I am originally from the island of Dominica and I enjoy cooking, off-beat tv sitcoms like Thirty Rock and Modern Family, practically every kind of music under the sun and romantic comedies and thrillers. I also enjoy being outdoors, dancing, sampling foods with lots of flavor, volunteering and learning something new everyday so I love 'Googling' practically everything! In terms of travel destinations I really enjoy trips that allow you to get to know a place and the people, for real, but with the basic comforts of home (not too much roughing it for me:). I guess one of my favorite mottos in life is "Be the change you wish to see in the world" as I think that it really sums up the importance of making the effort to be the best person that I can be.
The idea for Narakiel’s Inn originally came about a few years ago because I wanted to create a space that I too would enjoy staying in when I would regularly return to Dominica for some R&R from the US. So it was really important to me that the space be comfortable, super clean, conveniently located and cozy but at the same time inexpensive. Narakiel's is a family owned/operated, beautifully renovated, formally residential dwelling. We believe that Dominica is truly unique & exceptionally beautiful & want to share this wonderful ecotourist destination with the world! We have lots of local knowledge and are excited to share our local expertise to assist travelers in getting to know the real Dominica and to thoroughly enjoy this one-of-a-kind, unspoilt Caribbean paradise. So we are happy to provide personalized attention and are here to assist our guests in any way that we can. And also be sure to check out our reviews on TripAdvisor!
