My stay at Surya Abadi was exactly what i needed. Morgan's hospitality is as everyone said. You don't really see Morgan but she is easily accessible via chat. She had a driver for me to take me to the hotel so that I didn't have to deal with getting lost in the evening. The price is expensive but in comparison to airport pickup in California, it's the same. Thanks to Madi and staff for making my vacation memorable.
We had a very nice stay. Even if something indeed seems to be happening to the paddy field, the place remains charming and relaxing. The staff is very friendly and the atmosphere is great. We are considering coming back before leaving Bali!
Fab place if you want somewhere out of the crazy hustle of Kuta. 20/30 minutes to Seminyak/Kuta by bike and 60 minutes to Ubud, it's a great addition to a chilled holiday. Sadly the rice paddies had started being built on when I was there but the place is still very peaceful and beautiful. And the staff are great at organising anything you need - just remember to go local and bargain!
This place is great value for money. Comfortable rooms, nice pool and gardens. Please keep the price in mind when thinking about location, standard of luxury and customer service. People expectations will often be disappointed if they are thinking they are staying in a hotel. Also organise your own transport (they charge too much) and print maps as it's very hard to find. Otherwise I think this place is a bargain!
Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Surya Abadi Villa in Bali.
The pool area is wonderful and a nice place to relax after a day in the sun. The garden and external area is very well maintained by Made and his team. It was difficult to sit downstairs for any length of time in the evening because of the mosquitos, but that could easily be resolved by putting on some mosquito spray.
Made and his team were great to me. They were always on hand to sort something out or simply to ask a question about the area and so forth - Made also made it very easy to organise a scooter (Rp. 40,000 per day) which is an absolute must at this villa. If you are afraid of scooters or do not ride then do not stay at this place as there is not much around to visit within walking distance and I rarely saw taxis in the area. Overall, the service from the staff was very good.
The room was rustic and basic. The air-conditioner worked well and I slept very well in the room. The place is next to a property with chickens so bring your earplugs if you are a light sleeper as the chickens (and I think I heard the occasional duck) are awake from 4am onwards! The bathrooms do need a renovation and that would be my only negative criticism of the place.
Overall, great value for money and well worth a visit if you want to stay somewhere slightly out of the way from the hustle and bustle of Seminyak/Kuta.
This place is called Villa Surya Abadi , You can find other reviews on trip advisor, etc.
Great price. Picturesque. Relatively quiet.
Firstly, do make sure you get the detailed directions to the place, the place is kinda remote and hard to locate, even with a map. It may help to get the villa's phone number, as the host is unable to communicate in Bahasa with the taxi driver.
Some sorta construction activity seems to be taking over the "paddy field".
Next, our room over-looking the paddy field, turned out to be facing the underside of a staircase, with some negotation we managed to switch to an upper deck room. I did browse multiple entries on airbnb to try and figure out which one actually had the "view".
The swimming pool is pretty, but nowhere close to clean regardless of what time of the day you plan to use it.
The intermediate floor is made of timber and very wobbly. Sound insulation is non-existent. My first floor room was only accessible by a ladder !
For a short stay, you may find the short comings quite acceptable.
This was our first Airbnb experience.
The place was really beautiful, it is luxurious and looks like paradise. The rooms are clean and very nice.
The staff are really helpful and serious.
But we never met Morgan, and she recommended us a driver who was really more expensive than the normal Bali price. We really didn't appreciate this. Moreover one night we were lost and when our driver tried to call Morgan to find out the way, she replied she was sleeping. So we had to do by ourselves as two lost foreign young girls on a rainy night in an unfamiliar country.
Stayed at Villa in March 2014. Morgan was very helpful and answered messages promptly. Villa very charming with great Balinese feel and style. Room was large with nice bed. Close to Echo beach and about 30 minutes to Seminyak by scooter. Scooter rental is available at villa for good daily rate. Staff friendly and helpful.
We had a fantastic stay at Villa Surya Abadi. The room was very spacious and comfortable, and all of the staff are very friendly and accommodating. The highlight of the stay was renting out the motorbikes for the day at a very reasonable rate. We took a motorbike to the beach and stopped for lunch at Betelnut Cafe. The rice paddies in the area are beautiful. Overall we had a very relaxing few days in Bali.
