Philip and Mei were absolutely wonderful hosts, and though we only stayed for two nights, we became friends by the end of our stay! We were really sad to leave, as staying here was definitely a highlight during our two weeks in Bali! The grounds have such a lovely, relaxed atmosphere that we missed as soon as we left, and we wish we could have stayed longer! The house we stayed in was really beautiful, and designed and made by Philip and Mei out of white antique washed wood. The outdoor shower runs cool but this was really refreshing in the Bali heat. There is a private low seating area, with comfortable cushions and a table, that can be made more public or private depending on what you like, by raising or lowering the blinds. There are 2 complimentary small bottles of drinking water each per day, and sachets of tea and coffee complimentary in the living area. Upstairs, there is a really beautiful, tranquil bedroom with mosquito net an outside balcony with view of rice paddies, and you'll also find a lovely blurb on Philip and Mei to help you get to know who you're staying with!! Our room/house was also serviced while we were out on our second day which was lovely to come back too! Philip offers the guests a private 7 stop tour for a great price (700000 for two, for about 8 hrs) and we are so, so glad we did it! Was one of our best days in Bali, would absolutely recommend! There are 5 set stops, and then you get to choose 2 out of 4 to your liking, plus a stop to a lovely restaurant for a break in the middle of the day. (Stops include rice fields, coffee, 3+ temples, art markets, waterfall... etc) Philip is a really awesome, friendly guy and knows so much about the Ubud area, so we had a really fantastic day filled with amazing new experiences and learnt so much. The car we travelled in was a little rough round the edges, but we couldn't be happier that we did a tour with Philip!! Also, the location is a little far away from bustling Ubud, in a small Balinese village. But perfect for relaxing, and we were lucky enough to catch a local celebratory cock fight on our first day! You'll be woken up to roosters and sounds of nature :) If you're wanting to get around, great spot for scooter riders. As for food, Philip is also a chef and there is a menu you can order from in your room as only local Warungs are within walking distance. We tried the Thai chicken curry and Thai chicken... yum! We also wanted to try Philip's famous pizza (Romanian pizza!!) but ran out of time. Complimentary breakfast is delicious, and while standard was coffee/tea, fruit, scrambled eggs + toast, we saw breakfast adjusted for other guests to their liking - so just ask! On top of...
