About This Listing
Hi thanks for checking out my place! Currently its available from late October & I'm looking for longer term lets of 3 months & up to a year . I am happy to discuss schedule & budget etc if you are interested. Looking forward to hearing from you soon! I'm in LA & can show the property anytime. Here is the full description for you...
Lovely 2 bed 1 bath cottage circa 1918 great views of the hills but only one block to Sunset Blvd in Silver Lake with all its boutiques , cafes and music venues - so you get the benefit of being close to the action but enjoying the peace of being in the hills. House is 35 steps from street level. Its approx 1000 sq ft & although feels larger thanks to its great views and large front porch. There is a utility area w/ Washer & Dryer. & the adjacent space /room has been used as a home office by past tenants and leads onto the back garden. Jacuzzi tub & shower. Main bedroom has comfy queen bed/ mattress. 2nd bedroom has a sofa bed (sleeps 2) or is an office and has a door to the bouganvillea festooned side patio. The best view is from the front porch where I have an old but comfy sofa where you can sit and sip a cuppa or cold beverage , unwind & enjoy views of the hills - during clear(er) months you can even see a tiny bit of Mount Baldy way in the distance . There is also a hammock in the front garden area. I have a long term tenant in my studio apartment which is separate to the house . Front room sofa is a sofabed for extra guests. There is street parking but I have a garage and I may leave my car there . There are local buses one block away on Sunset to take you to Downtown LA to the east or all the way to the beach to the west. Union Station is 4 miles away @ $16 cab - if you come from LAX you can take the Fly coach for $6 to Union Station. Cabs are expensive.
I'm willing to consider pets if they are well trained but I require an additional deposit for extra cleaning/ wear and tear pets tend to cause on my house/ garden. Cheers! GD
Hope these rules don't seem too stern - over the years of renting my home I've returned home to find my house with certain things wrong or used or dirty or broken so its easier if I be specific so everyone is on the same page!
No smoking in the house. If you smoke outside please use an ashtray and dispose of butts in the garbage bin on the street not in the house.
You are welcome to use my condiments, cooking oils , sauces etc but only if you have run out of yours. Please do not use up my supplies in their entirety - or replace with exactly what you used. If you don't recognise the brand don't use it - chances are that I hand carried that item from one of my travels and it can't be replaced!
Please dispose of ALL your food in the fridge/ freezer before you leave and put in the garbage outside not in the kitchen trash container - this should be left empty.
I'll supply you with a clean house with clean bed linen and towels. Please make sure you wash these before you leave or it time does not allow please put in the cream bin by the washer /dryer. Please make sure there is a mattress protector on the main bed and any of the sofa beds you may use . These should also be washed if time allows. I have a cleaner and can provide you with her details for when you leave but I hope that you keep my home clean throughout your stay!
Please make sure to use the hair trap in the bathtub/shower at ALL times. The bathtub blocks very easily and even if you think you don't have much hair it soon builds up! Please make sure you remove your hair from the trap before you leave & flush down the loo rather than leave if for the cleaner to clean up as its gross!
If there are any problems such as plumbing issues etc contact me as I have a plumber that I use and who knows my house etc.
The gardener comes each Friday for about an hour.
Street cleaning Friday noon - 2pm.
Breakages - please tell me rather than have me find out after you have left - honestly is the best policy!
Pets - on a case by case basis. If you do bring a pet be aware there are coyotes and racoons around and lots of SKUNKS! Do not bring your pet back into the house if it gets sprayed - take it to a pet wash ASAP.
Do not leave your pets unattended in the garden and please don't allow them to bark for much or all of the day.
if you have a dog make sure you pick up all the poop from the garden.
Please make sure their flea treatments are up to date.
No house parties past 12 midnight please and be aware that if you chat on the porch your voices will carry to the apartments opposite and they can hear you verbatim! so if you are having a late night chat-a-thon please take it inside the house!
Gas and electricity are expensive so please use the lights & appliances sparingly.
Thank you for taking care of my home as I hope you would your own!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Gemma's comfortable, well-located shabby chic cottage. Although we never met Gemma, she was an excellent communicator and great host. The neighborhood is great, and plenty of fun places are within walking distance, no small feat in LA! Highly recommended.
great place, lovely garden and deck to sit out on. very clean and cozy. feels like home. can even walk to local coffee, restaurants, etc which is a plus in LA.
I spent four amazing weeks at Gemma´s house and would love to go back anytime. This was my first experience with airbnb and everything went really smoothly. I hadn´t met Gemma when I moved in as she was away but everything was really well arranged --- the house is a true gem in a great area of LA and I couldn´t have found anything better.
