Phill & Clayo
Unfortunately I did not get the chance to meet Phill, but Clayo, and Puck (what a fabulous dog) were great. Clayo answered all of my questions, was very accommodating even with the small snafu of someone checking out late so my room was not quite ready. No problem- I just set up by the gorgeous pool and everything was ready in no time. The environment is welcoming and others staying there were very friendly and the conversations plentiful. They really make sure you feel like you're in your own home rather than a guest in theirs. There is a small fee charged at the end of the stay that should be mentioned up front. But beyond that I was very happy with my stay.
Phill, Clayo and Puck (dog) were the perfect hosts, they put out breakfast every morning and the listing is just what I expected. Great conversations and very clean and beautiful home. Since this was my first Airbnb experience, I can truly tell you it was well worthy the time and money . The location is superb, walking distance to Griffin Park and Restaurants.
Excellent stay with Phil and Clayo and Puck.
Great location, easy street parking. The house is lovely and beautifully appointed and they have gone out of their way to make it comfortable for guests. The atmosphere is warm and friendly and peaceful. I felt welcome and at ease. Wish I could have stayed longer. I will definitely return.
Great house, great stay, great hosts. Phill and Clayo are very welcoming, the house is lovely, the room pristine and very comfortable. Great neighborhood with walking access to Griffin Park and everything you need. Enjoyed it very much.
WOW... we are hosts in the same neighborhood with over 400 reviews. We're blown away with Phill and Clayo's pad. They cornered the market on hospitality. Veteran hosts. We're embarrassed about our Airbnb operation now and how shabby it is comparatively.
To keep this review brief, here is a list of all the awesome things to expect: cute+calm dog (named Puck), POOL+JACUZZI, continental breakfast (omg w/Nutella!), lots of isolated seating areas (not that we even saw the other 2 sets of guests), clear instructions, music playing all day, great vibes from the hosts, AMAZING stories, brilliant art collection, plentiful street parking, great hiking 2 blocks away and did i saw swimming pool?
Airbnb usually asks if you would like to nominate your hosts for "Hosts of the Year"... this is the first time out of over 30 stays where we will checkmark the box.
THANK YOU P+C! You two are incredible.
Phill and Clayo were totally responsive to my completely last minute request to stay at their place. They swooped in and were very responsive.
Every city has hidden gems and the Huxley home is no exception! Phil and Clayo were both attentive and direct with meeting and exceeding any hopes or expectations we could have of airbnb. Phil was absolutely wonderful in his direct communications and guidance to a successful stay in his home. Once we hit feet on the ground Clayo was beyond a host with his open spirit and supporting every question or need we had. The home is an example of indoor and outdoor living blending into one environment. The room we stayed in was impeccable with a very sweet touch of cold Pellegrino drinks waiting for us. I am grateful my son and I chose to stay in this beautiful home, that is not only a work of art itself, but truly a reflection of a life lived fully! In this remarkable home you leave feeling like you have just met long-life friends!
From what Clayo tells me, I hope we will become long-life friends. You are always welcome at the Huxley House. On another note, you must/should be a very proud Mom. Clayo was extremely impressed and moved by your son. He seems like a joyous spirit with the ability to receive triumph and adversity with equal aplomb and grace. Clayo told me about are remarkably he handled the disappointment of the hair cut. Congratulations!!!

About the Host, Phill
I'm originally from Chicago. I moved to Los Angeles shortly after college. I've live within a 5 mile radius of my current house for over 30 years. I really love this neighborhood. I'm a pretty easy going person. I love to cook, and have dinner parties. I am the president of a small non-profit AIDS organization. I have been an AirBNB host for 3 years. It has been a remarkable experience. I love meeting new people and making new friends. I have always had friends all over the world. It has been great expanding my network. I love hiking and trekking. My favorite sports are scuba diving and white water rafting. I've visited six of the seven continents. I'm not sure if I will try to go to Antartica. I don't like the cold.
