Note: the apartment is one block south of sunset at coronado terrace, not where indicated on the map. We are NOT next to the freeway..This 1920s craftsman bungalow (one half of a duplex), presents a sunny and cheery 980 square feet secluded from the street behind a gate and wall of greenery. Nearly everyone who stays here is surprised at how spaciousness of the apartment, and says that the photos don't do the place justice. The one bedroom has a plush memory-foam queen bed. In an adjacent sun room--separated by glass French doors with blinds--you'll find a twin bed (with pillow top mattress) surrounded by windows. If you need a third bed, the living has room a wide-seated couch doubles as a twin (not a pull out). Other amenities: wireless internet, basic cable, complete kitchen (with stove, oven, dishwasher, microwave, fridge, coffee maker, grinder and toaster), and full bath (tub with shower, hair dryer), laundry on premise, an air conditioner only in the bedroom with the queen bed. There's a roomy outdoor sitting area with picnic table in a fountain courtyard. Fresh ground coffee and cream provided. Street parking only. Located half way between downtown LA and Hollywood, one block from Sunset Blvd (at the Silver Lake border) with city view. Very light & airy. All closets and built-in dressers are empty, and there are no personal artifacts in the apartment. Bus lines one block away. Please no smoking indoors or outdoors. Parking note: if you are on the premise on a Thursday or Friday between 10AM and Noon, there is street cleaning so your vehicle must be on the opposite side of the street to avoid a parking citation. Other nearby locations: Dodger Stadium, Echoplex (local music venue), Echo Park Lake. Note: Satellite street view shows a block and a half away; our street is much more quaint! Lastly, posted check out time is 11AM. If you would like a later check out time, please let me know and I will do my best to accommodate you. Same goes with check-in, if I am able to accommodate you to an earlier time to fit your schedule, I will do my best. Lastly, if you would like to save some money, check out Hemingway's Retreat, my other vacation rental just opened on the same property. Cozy, but extra roomy by NYC standards with a living-room sized deck with view!
One half of the front fountain courtyard belongs to this unit. Included: a picnic table, 4 chairs and a bench.

Convenient and peaceful. Easy street parking and easy highway access. Well appointed. Congenial host. Thanks
Bill's place is absolutely wonderful. Charming, quiet, close to restaurants and short drive to other parts of the city. The perfect place to stay in LA!
Lovely week-long stay at Bill's place in Silverlake/Echo Park. Lots of space inside, lovely view from the sunroom, peaceful patio out front with a fountain. Our two kids were very happy playing indoors and out. Street parking out front very easy during the day, not as easy late at night. Never had to go more than a block or two away, and neighborhood is very safe. Vary convenient location. Thank you Bill for a wonderful stay!!!
Anne, thanks for the wonderful review! I just wanted to add my experience with parking. I've lived there 20-some years and have never parked more than one block away, and I usually find parking usually right out front. One block means about seven houses down. Two blocks away for you must have been an anomaly.
Bill's bungalow was MAGICAL!!! I HIGHLY recommend it! Perfect location with the cutest outdoor sitting area you could possibly imagine (it has a fountain!). Bill was an excellent host, the place was completely clean and I was so so so comfortable during my stay. Many thanks to Bill!!!!!!
We thoroughly enjoyed our extended stay at the South Bungaow. Bill was a most responsive, welcoming host and it was a pleasure to meet him & his partner, Kevin. The Bungalow was a great location for our continuing exploration of LA as a possible new home. The daily walk down Sunset was always entertaining and enlivening with great croissants available on every corner. The Bungalow provided a much appreciated, restful home away from home.
The pictures are very accurate to what you will find when you enter this charming spot. The check-in instructions and parking instructions were perfect. I had no problems with parking. The space is comfortable and spacious. I enjoyed keeping the windows open and listening to the fountain. This was a business trip, so I did not get time to enjoy sitting in the courtyard area. From the back of the space there are views of the downtime skyline and the Hollywood sign. I was able to watch the sunsets and hummingbirds from the windows. Great stay!
This place is adorable and the hosts couldn't have been more accommodating. I'm a producer and had a well-known actor stay here and he reported all good things:)
What a beautiful place in a very convenient location. The view alone is worth the price of admission! Bill was very helpful before our arrival and the bungalow was just as advertised. Bill had a printed list of general information and suggested neighborhood spots that we found very useful. My mom was a little unsure of the AirBnB idea and generally prefers nice hotels but she couldn't stop raving about this place. Street parking was never a problem and we had an easy drive to Hollywood, Pasadena, Santa Monica and LAX. You will definitely enjoy this charming place!
We booked this place based on the great reviews. It delivers on all fronts - neat and tidy, charming and cozy, and a magical courtyard/garden. Be sure to visit the Cuscatleca Bakery nearby. Book it and enjoy your stay!
Great experience at the South Bungalow! Very clean and roomy! Plus the most adorable secret garden out front! Id highly recommend it!
