Pinnacle Farms Redbird Room has a private entrance and a private bathroom. Located on a sustainable orchard at the base of South Mountain, close to hiking and biking trails, and the AkChin Casino! We offer a quirky place to stay and get away from it all or a nice place to kick back for a work gig. 10 minutes from the airport, easy and secure parking, wifi, a relaxing shared patio and 10 minutes from all of the action in downtown Phoenix. We are about 20 minutes away from the Salt River Field

The space
The historic adobe farmhouse was built in 1934 out of mud, and has a cool back story of a Supreme Court Judge and lots of secret spaces designed when it was an Oasis for hippies and artists in the 1970's when they needed privacy for their "Blossomtime Farm" (which was really a front for a Marijuana growing operation before it was cool) and a place to enjoy some shared adventures with other couples! ;) I am a farmer, and for many years before I purchased the land, it had sat vacant and all the beauty had died in the harsh desert with no one to care for it. But when I purchased it out of foreclosure in 2011, I started to rebuild the historic farm into a diverse orchard with lots of citrus and peach trees and and chickens to wake us in the morning. The farm is now a great place to wander and let your mind enjoy the hidden secrets of the South Mountain preserve, along with the agricultural heritage of being South of the Salt River but so close to downtown! A Keurig coffee maker and a mini fridge are supplied for the basics. There is also a work space desk and chair for business travelers and a nice shared patio for those that want to soak up our AZ sunshine. Centrally located, we are 20 minutes from Tempe, Salt River Fields and State Farm stadium, 15 minutes to Sky Harbor, 10 minutes to downtown Phoenix.

Guest access
The Redbird Room has a private entrance through the back gate of the Farm House. My dad and his dog Buddy occupy the farm house and will share the outdoor patio space.
Guests are welcome and encouraged to walk the farm, and visit the farm stand. We just ask that you don't handle the produce and don't drop any litter, including cigarette butts. My dad will happily tell you all about the rich history of Phoenix and how the South Mountain area is unique, as well as where to shop and dine nearby and downtown.

Other things to note
The farm is a rural property and can be hard to find, so check ins should be before 8 pm to minimize disturbance to the household members please. After check in, you are free to come and go as you wish, just be respectful of the other occupants. We have a HipCamp and other Airbnb listings at the 7 acre farm, so you may meet some new people and you can enjoy hanging out at the fireside campsites with folks sometimes. We also operate a real working farm, so while you are welcome to walk the property, please don't leave litter, smoke in the fields or handle the produce. We have a few roosters, so the roos can make a little noise in the am, and my dad is an early riser, so you might hear him talking to the dog or his TV. :) Occasionally, we get up early and run noisy pumps and tractors, but not often and its not especially audible from the house.

The Laveen community was just noted as one of the friendliest places in Phoenix. We have several good restaurants nearby, including the Black Bear Diner, Mimi's Il Forno, Dos Gordos, and the Kabob King, along with Starbucks and several fast food and ethnic places. Ask for a recommendation. We are only 15 minutes from downtown restaurants and museums and the Sky Harbor Airport, about 20 from the Salt River Fields in Scottsdale for spring training, State Farm Stadium where the Cardinals play. The farm is usually a very serene setting away from it all, but still relatively close to everything in Phoenix (by Phoenix standards, haha. It can take 2 hours to go from one side of the metro area to the other.)

I am a vegetable, grain and fruit farmer by trade. My primary interests include playing in the dirt and watching my plants grow. The farm is a historic citrus homestead and the original home is made from adobe mud in 1930. We enjoy old things and the history of Phoenix is quite fun too. My dad keeps the light on at the farm on South Mountain and guests can depend on having someone around in case they need anything or need directions to get around. We are all born and raised in Phoenix and can give you info on lots of subjects. You can see more of what I do by looking up my farm Pinnacle Farms

During your stay
I am often found working at the farm, but am not always on site. I am readily available by text until about 8. My dad will be on site, and will happily talk your ears off, when he can tell you stories of Phoenix from when he was a child, and is up to date on current politics too! Please let us know if you prefer no contact in advance and we will say hi from a distance.
