The Space

Come share my modest, cozy, converted 3 room, 1 bath apartment on the 5th floor of a pre-war walk-up building in the Harlem neighborhood of Manhattan.

4 minutes to A,B,C,D - 125th St subway station (Express Lines available)
7 minutes to 2,3 - 116th St subway station
10 minutes to CENTRAL PARK

This eastward-facing Master Bedroom is full of sunshine, furnished with a queen sized Serta Perfect Sleeper mattress for an extremely comfortable resting place and is 11" x 16", 175 sq ft (16 sq m, 16 qm). Two single-size portable beds/floor mats are available for extra guests. It's also possible for me to move one of the single real beds from one of the other rooms. If you're interested in this, ask if it's available before booking.

There's 2 common/shared areas : a small kitchen and bathroom

THE SEMI-PRIVATE ROOM : See the listing for the smaller bedroom with 2 single beds that can be converted into large bed -

HALF OF THE APARTMENT : See the listing for the front half of the apartment with 4 single beds -

A Schwinn moutain bike is also available at a rate of $20/day.

Towels, linens, air conditioning/heating, kitchen use, Wi-Fi internet (laptop not provided) and lite printing are provided at no extra cost.

A healthy breakfast of fruits, cereal and tea/coffee is setup for self serve. Ingredients for a hot breakfast of oatmeal, grits and eggs are also available and maybe prepared at your convenience.

The kitchen is fully equipped with a variety of cooking tools (rice cooker, pressure cooker, magic bullet, etc) and is available for use for those who prefer to save by eating in. There's also a gourmet grocery store (3 blocks away) to purchase ingredients for lunch/dinner.

The apartment is on the 5th floor. The building, however, does not have an elevator, so prepare to walk some flights to the apartment.

It takes :

20 mins to get to LGA by taxi for $20; 40 mins on the M60 bus for $3.

30 mins to 1 hr to get to JFK by taxi for about $45; 1 hr 30 mins on the A subway line for $3.

1 hr 40 mins to get to EWR by taxi for $70; 1hr 30 mins by subway/rail/bus for $5-$15.

The Super Shuttle or Air Link shuttle is also available from each of these airports for $25.

For drivers, there's a parking garage across the street with a rate of $16/day. There's also street parking that can be found easily. However, NYC's alternate street parking rules apply, excluding sundays and holidays; the car would need to be moved every other day for street cleaning.

Read the "House Rules" tab for additional information.

Clean, respectful, non-smoking/lite-smoking males and females are welcomed. Well behaved kids are also welcomed.

  • We had a great time at Latasha's !
The area is really nice and very close to the tube and central park is only a few minutes walk away. It's very close to the famous Apollo theatre and nice restaurants and shops etc...
To stay in such a mythic area as Harlem was really nice and meeting Latasha made it even nicer ! She is sweet and funny and makes you feel at home !
Thank you Latasha for the tips you gave us for a typical Sunday in Harlem, it really made our day !!
Definitely a place to crush !!

  • Had a very nice weekend at Latasha's. Good access to subway at 125th; quiet neighborhood and Dunkins next door for morning coffee. Added bonus: free street parking a few steps away! Recommend for folks who want to zoom around NYC, but get back easily to the room.

  • Latasha is a great host, a fantastic tourist guide, a funny and very nice person! I can highly recommend staying in her flat! The location itself is very good for exploring NY. If you like running in the the Central Park, it is the perfect place to stay! Thanks Latasha, it was an unforgettable stay!

  • It was a great pleasure to stay at Latashas home and have this personal contact in this big city. She is a very kind person, talking to her makes so much fun and she enjoeyed the laugh of Luca very much (as he has always a lot of nonsense in mind). Staying with 5 persons were no problem at all. We arranged everything on-site and it worked very well. Hope we see again.

  • Latasha is an awesome host! This was my first time using airbnb and I had my doubts, but surprise, surprise, Latasha's like a little fairy you find at the bottom of your coffee mug! That's to say, it was an absolute delight staying at her apartment. From the first til the last day of my stay in NYC, she was friendly and helpful. She gave me directions and transportation advice the day I arrived and gave me some useful tips along the way. She was also cool to hang out with. She came out for drinks with me and we had loads of fun. My last night there, I came home with badly blistered feet and she was so caring. She took out her personal stash of first aid stuff (wraps, bandaids, 2-3 kinds of antiseptic fluid, you name it) and let me use them. She let me borrow a pair of thick socks for my trip back home the next day. What else can I say... she was just a great host! She has that vibe--she can make you feel comfortable at her home no matter who you are.

  • Latasha likely has legions of fans throughout the world! She is a wealth of knowledge about everything NYC!
We were the only ones staying in the 6 beds that she has set up in her Harlem apt. Each morning we woke up and made breakfast for ourselves and were on our way to explore!

Thanks for the wonderful stay Latasha!
