We had a positive experience at Melissa's loft. We appreciated the off-street, guaranteed, parking and the privacy we had. The space can get quite hot on a warm day, but there was a fan available which helped. The space was very stylish and clean and everything we needed was available. Awesome shower and tub. The location is good...we had a car so access to downtown and everything else was no problem.

It was so Beautiful LOFT:) I stayed 5days and it couldn't be better! Melissa was nice, welcoming hostess, also friendly and generous. The LOFT was very bright, clean, well organised with furniture and equipments. There was nothing I could find anything insufficient. There was everything I needed and even more. The location and neighbors were great either. Downtown was just few blocks away, Beacon Hill Park and James Bay was able to reach by foot. It was so much great time at the LOFT. I am definitely going back to Victoria, and my accommodation choice is going to be here. Nowhere else:)

This was a really nice place. Recently renovated with modern updates. The host was extremely friendly and communicative and checked in multiple times to see if we needed anything. The loft bed was cozy, though the ladder up and down for middle-of-the-night bathroom trips was a little challenging. It was a nice touch for the host to provide sleep masks, because the skylights made it bright early in the morning. There is no microwave or dishwasher. The only real negative comment I can make: The bathroom is in the center of this small guest house. There's an opening next to the bathtub where there *should* be a glass window, or maybe even privacy glass, but it's open, covered only by a thin curtain. This means that there's no privacy for any sounds or smells, unless everyone else goes outside. That part was a little bizarre.

Response from Melissa:
Thank you Chris! I appreciate your lovely review as well as you feedback! Sorry to hear the ladder felt challenging in the middle of the night. I did make a point of having the rungs built extra wide like that on a boat's ladder, with lots of handheld openings along both rails, so as to feel safe and secure for people. I hoped the photo I have included, also gives a sense of what to expect. As for the bathroom, its placement in the middle and to the side, was part of the design, so as to afford open space and room for two french doors to the rear of the place. I am sorry it did not feel as if it provided enough privacy. I forgot to let you know there are thick curtains, that I had just taken down, available if needed. The curtains that were up, though somewhat gauzy, were meant to provide light and a sense of airiness while in the bathroom, looking out into the private setting of the yard. I tried these out myself, and found that while I could see out side from the darker bathroom, I could not see inside from the brighter outdoors. The open window without glass, is also part of the unique design, so that one could enjoy the green space and a fresh breeze from the yard, with french doors open. Or conversely, get cozy and have a bath, while their partner relaxes with them on the day bed next to the window, perhaps sharing a glass of prossecco together or something along like this. LOL!...I guess I am just a romantic at heart. Either way, this may not be an ideal set up for some, while others have enjoyed this unique feature very much. Again thank you for your feedback! And thank you so much for staying with us!

I was born and raised in Toronto, Ontario but moved to B.C. pretty much a soon as I could! After 15 years in the interior town of Nelson, I found my way to the fair city of Victoria which i feel is the perfect combination of nature and wilderness with city life and culture. I love the laid back feeling of this friendly city, that has so much to offer both its residents and visitors, alike!! I love the eclectic and down to earth vibe of Fernwood, where I happily reside with my teenage son. I have a degree in Art History from the University of Victoria, and have practiced bodywork/ massage for almost 20 years. I am a neophyte gardener with an interest in permaculture, urban chickens and bee keeping. I can most often be found walking the beach at Dallas Rd, in hopes of expanding my sea glass and heart rock collection. I like to meet new people and enjoy good conversations and especially good laughs!
