Interaction with Guests
Guests will be welcomed on arrival and made to feel at home. While the apartment is a self contained unit,we live in the main part of the house. I will be available at all times during guests stay.
Our neighbourhood has a significant amount of wildlife to be seen despite its proximity to the city centre. A pair of swans build their nest each year in the nearby river. A resident heron also is to be seen here at all times of the year.
Getting around the city is no problem as we are situated so close to the centre. To see the surrounding countryside there are a number of companies operating daily tours. Information on these is available in the apartment.
Galway quickly became one of our favorite places, due partly because we had the pleasure of staying at Williams loft. What a GEM! It is clean, quaint, exactly as advertised, and walkable to the West (and Best) part of town. You can get into and out of the City Center in 4 blocks. You are lucky if you rent this flat. If you aren't good with stairs though, you can sleep on the first floor (0 floor) futon if needed. We loved it!
Bill was very accommodating-- he was flexible with check-in, which was very much appreciated by our weary, well-traveled selves. He also came and lent a hand late one night when we needed some help figuring out the washer-dryer combo. Very approachable and generous.
The place was exactly as advertised-- clean, bright, well-stocked, close to town, and very pleasant. All of the wood (floors, bed, wardrobe, railings, chairs made for some extra squeaks and creeks, but it simply added to the charm. We knew from previous AirBnb reviews that the internet service tended to be slow, and that was indeed the case. So we worked around it when we needed to. All in all, a great stay! We would love to return!
This place is very nice and in an excellent location! William was very accommodating and made sure we had a comfortable stay. Would definitely stay here again.
Lovely flat in a great location for central Galway. Good communications from the host. Everything just as described in the write-up. I would recommend.
We stayed in Bill's apartment for two nights. Location, location, location. Incredibly short walk right into main part of the city center. Had everything you need: adequate kitchen, washer/dryer, free wifi, good bed, etc. Great communication with Bill as well. I highly recommend.
Wir haben unser wochenende in Galway in the old wool shop sehr genossen.
About the Host, William
Nous parlons francais ici! Wij spreken Nederlands thuis. I live with my partner Denise in our city centre house in Mill street Galway. I was born here in Galway and having lived away for 20 years in London, returned home over 10 years ago. I worked for many years as a social worker with homeless people but am now retired. One of my main interests is traditional Irish music and I play the guitar and mandola. I also like to sing and play in pub sessions several times a week. I am passionate about sport of all kinds and read the sports page before any national news. I like to travel and have been on holidays to many to many foreign countries all over the world. I have an interest in history in particular, local history. I love meeting people from different countries and cultures and for many years hosted foreign language students in our home. I like to make people feel at home.
Denise hails from the midlands of Ireland. She works as an acupuncturist, massage therapist and Chinese Herbalist. She has lived previously in San Francisco, Brussels and Nanjing China. She has travelled extensively often backpacking and hiking as well as studying Chinese medicine. Sa deuxieme langue est le francais. Haar Nederlands is niet slecht nog niet! She likes to make people feel welcome and loves listening to people's stories.
