This is a private studio suite in what used to be my garage. The other half will soon be my Ranch Store (Barnyard Boutique) and craft room. The studio has a private entrance and deck, main room with queen size murphy bed, mini kitchen area, and a private bathroom. Your stay will be as private as you want it to be. My home is next door, and this is a working ranch, so you are free to be as involved as you like, or we'll leave you alone if you prefer solitude.

The space
Fully equipped private studio space with everything you need to stay for a night or two, or a week! Mini kitchen has a small refrigerator, microwave, induction cook-top, electric grill, coffee maker, and is stocked with dishes and kitchen tools. If you want to BBQ, my gas grill is available. Bathroom has a rain-head shower with custom tile. The queen size murphy bed is super comfy, and the views from your private deck are awesome all day and night! PLEASE NOTE that the space is not air-conditioned! There is a ceiling fan directly over the bed, plenty of ventilation from four windows, and the deck is shaded after noon. But if you need air conditioning, this is not the place for you.

Where you’ll be

Hereford, Arizona, United States

This is a rural area, my closest neighbor is 1/4 mile away. There is a horse rescue nearby and their mountain pasture is just across the road, so you get to watch the horses. Deer (and other wildlife) visit my yard often. The closest city is Sierra Vista about 15 miles north, but the mountain hides most of the lights, so stargazing at night is incredible! We are very close to the entrance to Coronado National Monument, with plenty of hiking trails and a picnic area, visitor's center. Ramsey Canyon and the San Pedro Riparian area are less than ten miles for birders and wildlife-watchers. Kartchner Caverns is 45 min away. Parker Canyon lake is not far. Sonoita / Elgin WINE COUNTRY is not far. Bisbee - 20 miles. Tombstone - 30 miles. Historic Fort Huachuca - 20 miles. You could spend a couple of weeks here and do something different ever single day and still not see it all.

I was in the Army for 16 years and really did get to "see the world." I've worked too many different jobs to list, from doughnut maker to mail carrier to veterinary technician to intelligence analyst. Now I'm "retired" (translation: busier than ever) and living the dream that started when I fell in love with a camel in Saudi Arabia. I raise alpacas, and my starter herd of five alpacas has grown to a family farm with over 30 animals. My daughter and I host ranch tours, take a petting zoo to local events, set up at Farmer's Market a couple times a month and try to find time to practice our fiber arts skills. Next on our list of adventures is hydroponic gardening. We love to be outside enjoying the animals and the beautiful high desert views.

During your stay

This is a working ranch so there are animals everywhere. Mainly alpacas, but we also have a llama (who likes to go for walks), a sheep, chickens (and roosters) (and LOTS of farm fresh eggs), a family of peafowl, a barn cat, two livestock guardian dogs and a terrier puppy-share. The animals are generally peaceful, but please be aware that I cannot control the barnyard noises they naturally make. Roosters crow at the crack of dawn...the dogs will bark if they sense a threat...and the peacock will do what he does whenever he likes. We have a small garden, a fish pond/water feature, a couple of fire pits, a swing, and lots of places to sit and enjoy the views. From morning coffee on the deck, to pulling weeds, to helping feed the alpacas, to stargazing from the patio - join us for whatever flips your switch....
