Come and stay in our renovated 2 bedroom cottage in this small, friendly rural village.
We have a beautiful stone-flagged dining kitchen, a wood burning stove, dining table and chairs, and small garden with a patio area. The house has a TV, wireless internet and heating throughout.
We are very close to a pub serving great food at very reasonable prices, and there's a market town with all amenities about 3 miles away (with a train station).
The area is very popular area for cycling and outdoor pursuits. We are just 2 miles from the Pennine Way, a stunning 270 mile trail which leads from the Peak District National Park along the Pennine ridge through the Yorkshire Dales, up into Northumberland, across the Cheviots, setting you down in the Scottish Borders, however you don't need to walk all 270 miles! The house is also very close to the Lake District National Park (approximately a 30 minute drive), where you can enjoy the beautiful lake, pretty towns and stunning countryside.
The house is comfortable. but the heat system does not work. All in all is a good place to live. high recommended!
Glad you liked the house, and thanks for being a friendly guest. Just to point out that the heating works perfectly (and had just been serviced earlier in the month of your visit!), and there's a multifuel stove we could have set up for you, but unfortunately as you booked last-minute on the day of arrival and didn't let me know your intended arrival time, I didn't have chance to get the house all warmed up for you in advance.
A lovely cosy traditional cottage in beautiful countryside. Wifi works well as does the heating, if you are there in winter! A great escape from the world...
A home away from home and a perfect country retreat for exploring the Lake District ... Sara was an excellent and accommodating host, and ultra organised with directions to the cottage and detailed instructions for everything you need once there. Highly recommended.
My friend and I had a wonderful stay at the cottage. Sara was very helpful and provided lots of help and information ahead of our stay. Sara has also produced a pdf summary which covers everything you need to know. The cottage was just like the photos and very warm and cosy with both a log fire and central heating. Thank-you Sara!
Sara was very accommodating and offers a cozy cottage. The location is good, easy access to the Lake District and the Moors. The village is friendly, the church community welcoming. We spent a very enjoyable summer there....lots of good walks and great neighbours.
This is a great cottage to stay in. We had a wonderful time, it is full of character with its exposed beams and superb wood burning stove. It is located in a quiet picturesque village. The local pub has excellent home cooked meals at a very reasonable price. The area is great for walking with many hills close by and the Pennine Way is near as well.
It was nice to explore this overlooked part of the countryside instead of heading off to the Lakes.
I would highly recommend a stay here. Sara the owner was a pleasure to deal with.
