Dorothy was very gracious and helpful to my husband and me. She was pleasant and friendly. The neighborhood was nice and the train to the city was only a few blocks away. The village of Dalkey nearbywas quaint with several shops, pubs and restaurants. Breakfast was good.
We recommend this accommodation
One of Dublin's best kept secrets! You wont meet another hostess as charming, laid back, kind and welcoming as Dorothy. Her majestic townhouse will become your home away from home the second you step in the door. Not only was i greeted with a big smile and a beautiful house, there was a delicious breakfast of homemade organic goodness every morning. Dorothy is a retired architect with an amazing knowledge of Dublin's rich history and architecture as well as a great passion for food, music, yoga and healthy living. I was lucky enough to be taken on a private bicycle tour of the stunning coastline surrounding Dun Loaghaire. Even better was Dorothy's genuine interest in her guests to visit local haunts rather than seeing the generic tourist attractions. Expect a first class service with all the hidden secrets of Dublin included, huge comfy bed and stunning seaside views from your bedroom window. Only 10 min walk to the local dart station and amazing Sunday market. Approx 30-35 min bike ride into central Dublin along the coast. 10/10 'The only place to stay when visiting Dublin' I will certainly be coming back.
really a nice surprise! we spent two wonderful weeks guest of Dorothy .. fantastic!!
she has been willing and careful at everything, never invasive, she made us feel at ease right from the start. The house is really nice and comfortable, from the guest room with private bathroom you can see the Dun Laoghaire sea. The location is excellent to visit Dublin and also to take a trip or just relax. We still miss the breakfast in Dorothy's living room!! Dorothy often gave us very appreciated suggestions to enjoy as better as possible our vacation, from restaurants to places to visit and.. Enjoy your time!! Really improved the value of our vacation , we really recommend it !
Enjoy your time !! veramente un valore aggiunto, Consigliamo!!
Arrived to a personable warm welcome by Dorothy our fabulous host who immediately offered us a cup of tea after our long journey followed by showing us our comfortable, light & tastefully decorated double room complete with lovely garden & sea views with our own bathroom at the top of the house. We were treated to a continental style breakfast including freshly made coffee, home made bread with marmalade, cereal and fruit all beautifully presented in Dorothy's elegant dining room. Dorothy gave us good information on the area including transport links to Dublin via the dart & local bus services places to eat etc. We were given our own key so we could leave & return as we chose. Dorothy's home is stunning with lovely views overlooking the local park in a leafy quiet location only few minutes walk to the seafront & marina . My wife has plans to return to Ireland with a friend & hopes to be able to book her room at Dorothy's in the future. Once again thanks Dorothy for your hospitality, warm welcome & for allowing us to stay in your beautiful home.
'Elegant Victorian' is certainly an apt description for this beautiful, spacious house set in a quiet leafy square. Our double room at the top was peaceful, clean and light and, together with our own adjacent bathroom, allowed us complete privacy. Dorothy was warm, welcoming and relaxed, but never intrusive. She attended to all our needs, and on learning that we would be out until very late was totally unfazed and thoughtfully supplied additional keys. For breakfast (again we were left undisturbed) we were treated to excellent soda bread which had been home made by her mother. This was altogether a great stay and deserves high recommendation.
Retired architect with a strong appreciation for the arts. Sociable and friendly. Yoga teacher with a healthy and energetic lifestyle. Just back from Italy where I lived for almost 3 years.
