  • I really enjoyed my staying up in the rice paddies. Morgan was a great host thanks very much. I would recommend staying here especially if you want to get out of the hustle and bustle of Seminyak, enjoy the lovely gardens and the local atmosphere.

  • Note: we never actually met Morgan--we only exchanged e-mails and a few phone calls.

However, once we met the owners--Mr. Sudi and Ms. Lilik--we could not have found more wonderful people and hosts!!!

Customer Service: Mr. Sudi really cares about customer service--he went above and beyond to take care of our needs. Mr Sudi took us out to Tanah Lot and treated us to dinner the first night. He then helped us plan and refine our itinerary based on his native experience. He then lent us his personal car and drivers to take a tour of Ubud, the monkey forest, Batur Volcano, Kuta, Seminyak, and various activities--including furniture shopping. This was much beyond our expectation as we were expecting to just trek it alone!

Physical Description: The place itself was not exactly a villa in a traditional sense, but was still very nice. Our place was similar to what was described--a beautiful traditional Bali house with Teak wood. It overlooked a peaceful rice patty and as stated before, our hosts Sudi and Lilik gave us one of the most pleasant and warm welcomes to Bali.

Language-wise: Mr. Sudi's English is excellent and he gave us many tips and insights into the culture in Bali. We also spent quite a bit of time with Mr. Sudi's tour guides and drivers--Nega, Dewa, and Yuda. While the level of their English can vary, they were invariably willing to help and genuinely warm and pleasant hosts.

Cultural Experience: Mr. Sudi also invited us to his own school's celebration of Sarwasati. There were almost a hundred students in attendance with festive activities and traditional Balinese traditions.

Location-wise, Mr. Sudi is near Canggu--which is about a 20-30 min ride from Seminyak and Kuta. It is also about a 10 minute scooter-ride to Echo Beach--a nice beach to learn surfing. The only negative is that it was a bit difficult to find. However, this was also a positive since it was very peaceful and quiet and we got to experience Bali in a traditional Bali home and learnt much more about Bali than if we had stayed in a resort or hotel.

Amenities: Most things looked like the pictures and as described.

Convenience: Depending on what you need, it was about a 15 minute drive to the nearest restaurants. But this was made up for the fact that Mr. Sudi provided transportation.

Transportation: as mentioned above, Mr. Sudi provided, cars, drivers, and even scooters.

People: Absolutely a pleasure to meet Mr. Sudi, Lilik, and their kids Willing and Honesty (absolutely adorable!).

Summary: This experience was unmatched in hospitality and in terms of experiencing the local Bali culture and life. As a first-time visitor, you cannot go wrong with visiting and staying with Mr. Sudi. I would definitely stay here again and we look forward to coming back to Bali and visiting Mr. Sudi again!

  • We would not recommend this accommodation due to the following:
This villa is on the outskirts of Canggu
You cannot stay here without own transportation as taxi's are very expensive and you cannot travel without an expert taxi driver as this is not a known part of Bali. You cannot hire a scooter and travel on your own as this is to dangerous!!! There are no street names, no road rules an people drive like maniacs.
Seminyak beach is not 10min away, it was a 1hour drive by car. It is a long, expensive taxi drive to all attractions
The kitchen and lounge was not part of the house but was shared with the permanent residents
The house consists out of one bed, a couch, chairs and a bathroom
Scooters swarm past the villa in the main street just above the villa. Photos of the villa and surroundings were misleading
Almost no one could speak proper english and even our local balinese-speaking taxi driver could not understand how to reach the villa.
We paid for 2 weeks, we stayed for 3 days, and did not even receive our security deposit back after leaving everything in tact and neat and never asking for our money back for the time we did not stay.
As soon as we booked into the villa we booked our tickets back to South Africa and cut our honeymoon short and returned to the Aston Bali Resort for the last days of our stay.
One upside was Sudi and Lilly who upkeep the villa! They are wonderful people and we enjoyed their hospitality in the evenings when we were there. Harmony, their daughter is a little angel and we learned the cutest dances and songs from her.
It is a shame that the host of the villa misleads you with photos and talk of "the perfect holiday" - even the nearest grocery shop was 45min drive by car... If you did not drive in peak hour
We looked forward to our holiday of 5 weeks, that suddenly ended in 2.
It was not a pleasure staying here and we will not recommend it to anyone. It spoiled our holiday so, because of the untruthful photos and description of the place, that we will not return to bali for a second visit

  • It was an absolute pleasure staying with Sudi and Lili. We arrived as guests and immediately felt like part of the family. We stayed in their villa in gorgeous Canggu – and we couldn’t have asked for more. The villa itself was very clean, wonderfully furnished, the views were stunning and the bathroom was lovely. The latex topped mattress was very comfortable and linen was beautiful, crisp and clean. The villa had a fridge and a water filter and instant hot water for tea and coffee. There was also a huge TV and DvD player. There were fantastic options for breakfast too. Lili cooked us a delicious breakfast and cafes are only a bike ride away or you can get things delivered. But by far the best part about this airbnb listing was Sudi and Lili. They made every effort to make us feel welcome and loved, they had bikes for us to use, helped us with taxis and drivers, took us out to dinner and even to a friends wedding. This was so very special. You’ll do well to stay here and will never want to leave – we are already planning our return trip! Thank you Sudi and Lili for a wonderful time.

  • Morgan was a great host. She well-explained us about house and where to go and eat and so on.

Also, the owner of house, Sudi and Lilik, were the best!! We really are very appreciated that everything they did for us.Bali was really great place with its scenery. However, the best thing that bali has is the Balinese hospitality. Every Balinese people gracefully smiled back to us as we meet their eyes. Especially Sudi and Lili's hospitality were the best!!! It made us Bali a special place for us!!!

We will definitely go back to the place!!!

  • If you want a real deal, outside-inside experience while staying in Bali, this bungalow is your best bet. Amazing private residence. Sudi, the owner is super charismatic, speaks fluent English, and is super accommodating. Know that you will probably need to order food for delivery as it is a private residence, no AC. Awesome lady comes to clean at 2pm everyday, and they give you a cell phone.

  • I had a lovely two-night stay at Villa Sudi in the interesting area of Dalung where I was fascinated to see lots of Balinese Christian churches (the island in Hindu and the country is Muslim so it was quite unexpected). The Villa is lovely and spacious with lots of features and places to sit and lovely rice paddy views. It would suit someone or a couple seeing time out and the location necessitates possession of the car or bike although ultimately not that far from Canggu and Echo Beach. Pak Sudi was a great host.

  • After three memorable weeks in Jakarta we were looking for some good place to relax in Bali - and found a real paradise (and as a German I am not often saying things like that).

Situated in quiet narrow street, there opens behind a small beautiful door an oasis garden with a small temple and this antique house besides. A wonderful great room made up with much taste and knowledge, facing to silent ricefield terraces - sitting there on the balcony in the morning was one of the great moments of our tour. The picture tell only half of the story.

The hosts live in a modern house nearby with an outdoor kitchen and bar we could use too and liked to do, as Sudi and his wife are very nice people with a gastronomy background who like to make their guests happy but take care of their privacy as well. And this place is made for to be private.

Morgan cared about everything very well and quick, from airport transfer to scooter renting. A thing, we really recommend - a ride to Echo Beach and the restaurants around is great fun. And to Kuta at rush hour is a great training for Jakarta riding - but this will be next visit ;-)

A great thank for giving us four wonderful days there.

P.S.: And with that shower you don't need a pool. Love it! Sorry for my english, hope you understand

  • Beautiful accommodation in traditional Balinese style. The “apartment” is a huge house, built in traditional style with lots of antique elements and it comes with an unbeatable balcony view over rice terraces. The bungalow is located next to the villa of host/owner Suti on the outskirts of a small village. The house is fantastic for everybody, who wants to enjoy the traditionally side of Bali and stay apart from the rumble at the Kuta party beaches. The location is nicely quiet, most things you hear are the sounds of nature (chirps of crickets, etc.). Mosquitos were not a problem at (email hidden) is installed over the bed, but at the time we were there, it wasn`t even necessary (September 2012). Morgan and Suti are the best hosts you can imagine and whenever you have a problem, a question or a wish, they help you realizing it. You definitely need a vehicle to get around, but it is very easy to organize one. Morgan helped us to rent a (cheap) scooter and provided us with several location recommendations and a very helpful self-drawn map. The traffic in Bali is less organized than in other countries, but once you get used to it, it is no problem to “survive”. It is a short scooter drive to cafes, small supermarkets, ATM, etc. The ride to Echo Beach is also very easy and not far. The scooter drive to Seminyak beach is a little longer and more crowded. But again, once you got used to the traffic, it should be no problem (we drove the route several times day and night and didn’t have any problems). All in all: The accommodation is fantastic and the hosts are the best you can get.
