The hotel is as described, clean, nice size room and very cozy. The location is prefect, just a short walk from the beach. The owner and the people are very friendly and helpful. Great value for money! We had a blast!
This place is a must in Tamarindo!
Simona and Pino are gentle hosts, warm and relaxed.
Clean and beautiful bungalows, cleaned everyday. 3' away from the beach, fantastic!
My daughter and I really liked staying at Hotel Luna Llena. It's away from the traffic and people in town and nice and quiet. The pool is small, but adequate. The breakfast was really tasty and we LOVED our server Marina!! She also kept our bungalow nice and clean. It felt like you were in a little community and not in a hotel. At the same time, it was an easy 5 minute walk down a dirt road to the coffee shop 'Cafe Tico', the grocery store, and the 'Shrimp Hole'. Also, if you cross the main paved road and go straight toward the beach on the dirt road, it's a quick 5 minute walk to the beach and back from the beach. Downtown, there are lots of great shops and restaurants. Our favorite was La Palapa, happy hour all the time. We sat at a table on the beach every night to watch the amazing sunsets and drank two for one Pina Coladas: the best Pina Coladas I've ever tasted! Their ceviche is also really good! We went on tons of excursions and would highly recommend Leo and Jessica with CR Overcast Tours, costaricaovercast@icloud. Leo took such good care of me on one strenuous hike, I could have sworn he was my own son! We liked their combo zip line/horse back riding/inner-tubing trip, their Catalina Island scuba diving, and LOVED their quest to find giant turtles laying eggs in the beach at night! (Only $35 and worth every penny!) For transport to/from the airport, go with Eco Tours or CR Paradise Tours. $25pp and pick up/drop off right at Luna Llena. But you must get a reservation ahead of time! They don't have shuttles just waiting for anyone at the Liberia airport! But a lot of guys there want to take you and charge $80-$120pp! Anyway, we would definitely stay at Luna Llena and Tamarindo again!
The hosts of Luna Lena were fantastic warm and friendly as was the rest of the help. The setting was laid back away from the hustle and bustle of tamarindo. convenient to walk anywhere we need to go. Very pleased with out stay. would recommend staying here to anyone
We loved our stay at Luna Llena! The room was very clean with plenty of space for my sister and I, two comfortable beds, a large bathroom, hot water, good pressure, and had a ceiling fan and a/c. Our room was spotlessly clean every day. We had the Tico (local) breakfast every morning and loved it. We also bought fresh fruit and the kitchen staff cut it up for us every morning.
The grounds are lovely and peaceful. We enjoyed being able to sit outside in the shade of the palms near the pool during the hottest time of day. We also found our room to be very comfortable with just the fan, so we didn't end up using the a/c much (but we definitely appreciated having it!)
I chose Luna Llena because of their work with animal rescue networks. I was rewarded with an excellent, comfortable stay at a very affordable price. Highly recommended!
I never got to meet Pino, but his wife was incredibly accommodating when we showed up early for our check-in. She let us relax by the pool while our room was being cleaned and was very present throughout our stay at Hotel Luna Llena. My girlfriend and I had a great experience staying at HLL. I would recommend this B&B to anyone looking for a quality hotel (and complimentary breakfast) near Tamarindo.
