The neighborhood

La Paz, the capital of Baja Sur, has a rich history, delightful people, delicious food, perfect weather, and an easy-going lifestyle that welcomes travelers from all over the world. Despite being a full service tourist city, La Paz manages to remain the most "Mexican" of the Baja cities. You can spend a day wandering the streets, strolling the Malecon (Seaside Boardwalk) abound with shops, restaurants and bars.
Then you can spend a day at the Sea of Cortez (dubbed “The Aquarium of the World” by Jacques Cousteau), which is the home to some of the world’s best fishing, sailing, boating and snorkeling. The uninhabited island Espiritu Santo provides fantastic opportunities to explore the spectacular marine life and is but a short boat rides away.

Getting around

It is ten min taxi ride from the La Paz airport to the PDM's boat pier at La Paz. The taxis are very reasonable and go around the clock. Free boats bring you in ten Min across the magnificent bay from the seafront of La Paz to the PDM's pier at El Mogote Peninsula. Boats run free from 7:30am to 11:30pm every 30 min (seasonal schedule vary a little) every day. By the time of your arrival well trained staff member with a shuttle will stand by to take you within minutes to your condo.
If flying in Cabo San Lucas airport it takes then about 2 ½ hour to get to the PDM's boat pier in La Paz. The HWY from Cabo to La Paz is a very good four lanes road. You may rent a car or there are buses daily into La Paz. Taxi and private van services are also available.

Other things to note

Paraiso Del Mar is the best of both worlds.  While located very close to La Paz, it supplies ample separation from the city to provide a tranquil getaway thanks to the sands of the desert and the waters of the bay.

Joseph's condo is great - spacious, beautiful view and steps to the beach and pool. The condo is comfortably furnished and provided everything we needed. An excellent place for a winter sun break.

We spent two wonderful weeks in Joseph's condo! Super relaxing and fun. We thoroughly enjoyed the boat trolley to and from the resort. We looked forward to it, and would often see dolphins and sea lions on our ride. The condo is beautiful and very spacious! We loved how close to the pool and beach we were. The condo grounds were very well maintained. We loved how secluded and private the resort was. We enjoyed watching the Frigate birds soaring above the pool and grounds. You are able to walk for miles on the beautiful beach. We wished the kayaks had been usable. We would suggest making more kayaks available and one or two of them should be doubles. We really enjoyed the use of the paddle boards. The staff is outstanding!!! Everyone was very helpful and welcoming. The owners treat the staff like family and the staff treat the owners like family. They would go out of their way to help us and ask about our day. The Survivor Bar and Chuy's were some of the best restaurants we ate at in La Paz and they are right there. We wished they would stay open longer! Having the Whale sharks right off the beach was a very special treat. We loved going and swimming with the Whale Sharks, going out to Espiritu Santo Island and Islotes to swim with the sea lions. We strongly recommend VIP Tours La Paz (Anna Cabo). She is the best guide ever! We also recommend going to see the Gray whales and Todo Santos with Raul. After a busy day the best part was coming back to the condo and relaxing. We are looking forward to coming back and will highly recommend Joseph's condo!

This was our second time staying at Joseph's condo and it was just as great as the first time. Excellent spot for a family vacation or a romantic getaway. La Paz is a very special place and PDM is the perfect place to enjoy it from.

We just spent a fantastic 10 days at Joseph's condo at Paraiso Del Mar. The resort itself is nestled on a beautiful private peninsula that is primarily accessed by a ferry boat from Marina Cortez. It is a low key and relaxing place to spend a vacation. The Condo: -First floor, steps from the pool, right next door to the office where you can get kayaks/paddle boards/fresh water -Kitchen, was extremely well appointed with all pots/pans/dishes/appliances you could want. There were also thoughtful details like spices, sauces, sugar, dish rags, plastic wrap. -Bedrooms, since we only needed one bed we opted to stay in the master that shares A/C with the living room. Spare bedroom is bigger and equally as nice, but has it's own separate A/C unit. -Bathrooms, the unit has three very clean bathrooms and towels/hand towels were provided. -Washer/Dryer in unit -Trash few steps across the hall The unit is thoughtfully decorated with colorful walls, artwork everywhere, and cozy details like candle sconces and table cloths. There were a few books, puzzles, and a CD player/radio available for entertainment, as well as two televisions and 2 dvd players (one was a Blue Ray player!). Since US Netlfix et al doesn't work internationally, it is nice to bring DVD's if you'll want to watch television. We stopped at Walmart right by the airport on our way into town, which is a pain after a long day of travel but it's worth it to get your groceries for the week. There are wheel barrow's available to help you get all your groceries to and from the ferry boat, and the van driver at the dock will usually assist with loading everything into the van at Paraiso Del Mar. Grocery options in town are limited, there's plenty of produce and local markets with "street vendor" type food but if you want cookie dough, bacon, frozen pizza or things of that nature you'll need a cab ride to one of the bigger stores. Oxxo is like 7-11 and has beer/liquor/wine/snacks, and you'll find them on every block. The pool bar/restaurant at Paraiso Del Mar ("Survivor Bar") has a great staff and decent food. You can swim up to the bar and have a glass of wine with one of the residents, or choose to dine at one of the shaded tables on the other side. They are closed on Mondays, and open for limited hours (usually 12-7pm) so plan accordingly as they are the only on-site food option. Beatriz, the property manager for this unit was most helpful with arranging fishing and a taxi for us. Joseph was kind enough to provide a loaner phone for us to make local calls. You can purchase minutes for the phone in town. You'll want a phone to call the van for rides to the ferry. We loved our stay here and highly recommend Joseph's condo. This is an exemplary Airbnb listing and everyone should take advantage.

The condo far exceeded our expectations! Our host Joseph was friendly and quick to answer questions which helped to make our vacation memorable. The condo is exactly as pictured -- very large, beautifully decorated, meticulously clean, and well appointed. It was the perfect place to relax, with comfy bedrooms, large bathrooms, kitchen and amazing views from the lovely patio to enjoy your morning tea/coffee or afternoon drink. His property manager Beatriz was sweet and kindly made herself available for questions or help as she's local and very familiar with La Paz (including setting up the highlight of our trip, an amazing experience out to Isla Espiritu Santo). We felt very welcome, pampered, and lucky to have found such a fabulous place to stay for our first visit to La Paz.

We enjoyed our stay at Josephs luxury condo apartment very much. It was very easy to communicate with Joseph, also directly in La Paz we enjoyed a perfect service by his assistant. The apartment is very beautiful, spacious, clean and has everything you need for a luxury stay in La Paz. The amenities of the condo are in perfect condition and the beach (2 min walk away from the apartment) is amazing. We would definitely book the condo apartment again and after having been to La Paz already several times, I would say that it is the best option you can get! Thanks Joseph for providing your apartment on Airbnb!

We just returned from a week at Paraiso del Mar and it was fantastic. The condo itself was spacious, modern, clean and extremely comfortable for our family of four. A few steps to the beautiful pool and a few more steps to the clear blue waters of the Sea of Cortez. Free access to kayaks and paddleboards was a huge plus. If you don't feel like leaving the "resort" the poolside restaurant serves a great dinner. But we loved going to town (a 10-minute water taxi which runs every 30 mins). La Paz is a charming, family-friendly, sea side community. Tons of great restaurants, coffee shops, ice cream parlors, etc. And all with a very authentic Mexican feel... not over run by American tourists or college kids looking to party. Friendly, safe, I really can't say enough about it. Joseph was great and happy to answer any questions leading up to our trip. His onsite manager, Maude, met us at the site and was very friendly and accomodating, giving us great suggestions and hooking us up with a great guide for an awesome day of snorkeling at Isla Espirantu Santo. Five stars all the way, we loved it and would go back in a heartbeat.
