The location of the riad is great, right in the heart of the medina, and obviously the price is great. However, a number of other things left a lot to be desired. The riad was extremely cold day and night and was badly lit. I know it is not the high season yet but it was much warmer outside than inside which meant we did not want to spend much time at the riad!
The main bedroom only has a curtain seperating it off from the central courtyard area and as a result we cold and were woken up by the cockerill next door crowing all night! There is also a mosque next door which gets going very early. The bathroom is not very nice at all.
The second bedroom is very small and has bunk beds; even with the light on it is very dark. The bed I slept in seemed to have sand in it too. The second bathroom was horrible. It was tiny and it smelt, as well as having a leak and a soaking wet mat on the floor outside it.
Saaid the caretaker was great, such a sweet man, although he speaks no english at all. Khadija came round on 2 of the mornings although she didn't seem to understand too much of what we said either. We arrived at night and although Saaid brought us to the riad it would have ben helpful if Khadija had come too so that we could get our bearings a bit.
I don't want to sound too negative as actually for the most part the riad was very clean and spacious, however, I felt that with a little more care and attention it could have been an AMAZING place to stay.
Chez Khadija is a fantastic Riad in the heart of the Medina, its very authentic and the room is huge! Saaid, the housekeeper will take good care of you and make you a great breakfast and Khadija, who owns the house speaks good english and can help you organise your stay. I recommend this room 100%
Chez Khadija is a beautiful house and with nice rooms, extremely clean. I think, it's not so difficult to find, from Bab Boujloud always straight, about 10 minutes walk. I would recommend it and I would come again :-)
Our stay here was wonderful! They provided us with transportation from the airport to the riad. The breakfast was delicious and the tea was amazing. We wanted to watch the sunrise on the terrace while listening to the first prayer of the day, and the house keeper, Zaid, woke up and served us hot moroccan tea. He was very helpful even if he didn't speak english, there were no communication problems. The bedroom and bathroom were beautiful. Hot water. Even a tv and dvd player. We would stay there again and again.
