A car is unnecessary as all major landmarks can be accessed by local C10 (blue) bus, or more leisurely by lake ferry.
The Lake’s many famous attractions are all within easy reach by car, local C10 bus, or regular ferry service (pontile near Taverna Bleu Hotel), which stops in Sala (tickets from Sala are available on board), during the season, or stopping more frequently at the island. In Como the ‘Centro Storico’ is a shoppers’ paradise with an easy-going charm, and enchanting historical ambiance.
The Greenway Walk explores historic spots along the lake and connects from above the house (access from the Yellow Madonna along Via degli Ulivi near the cemetery), or by taking the ancient and unique Via dei Pini behind Pro-Loco. From Sala amble to Ossuccio and beyond to Lenno, Mezzegra, and Tremezzo (Villa Carlotta), finishing in Griante, a distance of some 8.5 km – meandering along the lakeshore and at other times higher up with panoramic views. The Greenway is easily doable in parts, as the walk touches C10 bus stops and ferry embarkation points along its path.

We had a fantastic holiday in Wendy's holiday house in Sala Comacina. The house is very well located, close to the lake, with a bakery near by and a couple of nice restaurants. We found the house very comfortable and loved the authentic Italian feeling of it. We would love to come back one day!
Wendy was wonderful. She met us at the bus and helped us haul our luggage a couple of short blocks to her lovely apartment in picturesque Sala Comacina.
The space was perfect for ourselves and two grand daughters. The neighborhood was filled with families and retired people. The merchants were friendly and restaurants great. The lake was a few meters away and the ferry dock a short walk. If you like a quaint village a little off the beaten track, this is perfect for you. You will learn to love Lake Como and Wendy just like we did.

Wendy is a good host, she started communicating with us from the minute we booked her place. She sent us all the surrounding attraction which helped us to plan our time there. Wendy is a good host.
The place is located in village which quite and a history teller, it gives you the feeling you are still living in middle ages. It is foot steps away from the lake ( 20 meters). The place is made out of stone and have been renovated. The furniture matches the place style and comfortable. Wendy kept the place very clean and neat.
For someone looking a piece of mind I strongly recommend it.
Lovely old home in a less-frequented town on Lake Como. The house was well-equipped and beautifully furnished. Our host, Wendy, was extremely helpful, providing a generous welcome basket and tips about the local area, transport etc. Highly recommended!
We loved our stay at Wendy's gorgeous apartment at Sala Comacina. It's perfectly located for exploring Bellagio and the central towns and villages on the lake. Best of all though is the attention to detail in the decor and beautiful linen that Wendy has equipped the apartment with. It was a joy returning home each day to spend a few hours around the kitchen table with our fresh pasta and wine bought while we were out exploring the local villages. We certainly hope to return again. Lynn & Serge Taravel.
Wendy is a wonderfully sincere and kind host with impeccable taste. The quality of the sheets and towels was that of a five star hotel... And the house itself tasteful and tidy, with all of the required amenities. Wendy also brings a lovely personal touch...leaving a bottle of chilled prosecco for my husband's 50th and showing us the way to the best restaurant in town. We will be back!
We were greeted by Wendy's cheerful smile and sweet disposition as we got off the bus after she waved us down. She led us to the apartment and made us feel absolutely and completely accommodated. She left an array of resources for both personal use as well as equipping us with ideas for activities to do for the duration of our stay. We absolutely recommend this apartment to anyone who wants to stay in the Como area.
