My home is in a quaint little working watermans villiage. History has forgotten these simple folks who still make their living catching crabs & oysters. 2 miles away is a small marina with a boat lauch ramp and tiny restaurant with pretty good food & music on Sat nite. 3 miles away is the Fairmount Wildlife Management Area, good for seeing Bald Eagles, Osprey, Great Blue Heron, etc. Only 45 minutes from Chincoteauge and the Assateauge Wild Ponies. Great fishing, canoing, kayaking, swiming, biking (bring your own gear)
No public transit. Plenty of parking. Salisbury airport 30 min, rent a car or take a taxi
Other Things to Note
property manager available for any questions/help
Shoes off when you come in please, and absolutely no smoking. Food in the kitchen/dining area only. (no food upstairs)
Please park in parking area (not on the lawn and not in neighbors driveway) thanks!

This charming listing was everything I'd hoped it would be. Tucked away without being isolated. Great views! Quiet and comfortable! One of the best parts was to have such a terrific kitchen! I love to cook and to find that in such a quaint little cottage was a delight. Iris was a quick communicator and i felt well supported while there though I had little reason to contact anyone for anything. Oh! Folks should know about the great Jazz CD collection and the lovely skylight in the master room. I really loved my stay and look forward to returning some day! Thanks, Iris
We had a terrific 4 days in Chesapeake Bay. The cottage had everything, including spices! It was exactly as pictured and the neighbours were so friendly - everyone waved as they passed by. We were treated to a magestic light show one stormy evening that we observed safely from the panoramic windows in Iris's kitchen. No problem getting in, close to everything we wanted to do but not in the fray!
We had a wonderful few days . The home was as described and the views were amazing. From every window you could see the water! The house was clean and bright. the kitchen was well equipt for cooking and the beds were comfortable. We took our boat from Rumbly Marina across to Smith and explored. The neighbors were friendly . Frenchtown is a undiscovered treasure and we are planning on a return visit in the fall.
We liked our stay at Iris' cottage. The breezes off the water (which is on both sides of the house!) were lovely. Such a lovely, peaceful location. Beautiful garden. 2 kayaks and 2 bikes available. The bed was comfortable. Kitchen and bath were clean and well-stocked. Beautiful floors and newly painted inside. Matt, the property manager, was easily available when we got a little lost getting to the house.
There were only 2 things that are misrepresented in the pictures. I was really looking forward to the screened porch, but it's gone! Also the living room pictures show a couch, but instead there was a futon with a pretty uncomfortable mattress. In spite of these 2 things, we really enjoyed our stay.
Dana made us feel most welcome. She communicated closely with us before we got there. The house and setting were lovely.
An amazingly authentic spot with family run soft shelling crabbing happening at neighbors. More quiet, bird watching and scenic beauty than could imagine. Would love to relax, read a book and enjoy quiet for days!
About the Host, Iris
The owner loves to sail, travel, wine & food, movies, photography, architecture, art. Her home is a 100 year old watermans house that has been renovated into a comfy cottage environment filled with art, books, movies and beautiful views. Sunrises and sunsets here are spectacular. The area is great for bird watching, kyaking, bike riding, fishing, and taking long walks. She likes to cook so there is a spice rack you are welcome to use and an outside gas grill, too.
