About this listing
A bright and airy double room in a cosy red-brick terraced house on a quiet street in the centre of historic Portobello, Dublin. A few minutes from the bustling Camden street area and only a short stroll into the centre of Dublin.
This is a bright and airy double room in a cosy red-brick terraced house on a quiet street in the centre of Portobello, Dublin. The two windows look out over trees and gardens, and have black-out roller blinds. There is a large bathroom next door with fireplace and bath, and wardrobe space on the landing.
The ground floor has a living room, also with a working fireplace, a large kitchen / dining area and a light-filled home office leading to a south-facing patio lined with old ivy.
The house is one street away from the beautiful, tree-lined Grand Canal. There are plenty of great cafes, pubs and restaurants nearby, ranging from cheap and cheerful ethnic cafes to the Michelin-starred Locks restaurant just around the corner. A 15-minute stroll brings you into the centre of Dublin via the vibrant area of Camden Street. We are convenient to museums, galleries and the main shopping areas. There is a Dublin Bike station at the end of the street, and the area is very well served by buses (including the 16, which goes to the airport) and the Green Luas (tram) line. I recommend Le Cool Dublin as one of the best online guides to the delights of the city.
Freshly laundered sheets, towels and soap are provided for each guest. All guests are welcome to use the kitchen/dining area, TV, washing machine, broadband wifi and can avail of a free-of-charge Dublin Bike card for the duration of their stay. This is an LGBT friendly house.
Guests have access to the whole house apart from the office and second bedroom, where I stay.
Interaction with Guests
I leave each guest to have their own space as much as they require.
Portobello is a lovely, quiet area filled with Victorian housing and bounded by the Grand Canal to the South. There are plenty of great pubs, cafes and restaurants and it's really easy to get into the centre of Dublin ( 15 minute stroll, 5 minutes on the bus)
The house is about 30 minutes from the airport by taxi, depending on the time of day, and the fare will be around €25/30. Alternatively the Air Coach express bus travels every 20 minutes to the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel on Burlington Road ( tickets €8 one-way) where you can jump in a taxi for the rest of the journey (fare aprox. €8/10) or walk for about twelve minutes up the canal. The number 16 bus takes about an hour from the airport to the South Circular Road, Longwood Avenue, Stop 1289, about 300 metres away from the house. On the other side of the street is the South Circular Road, Carlisle Street, Stop 1349 which is well served by four bus routes that take 5 minutes to get to the centre of Dublin.
I recommend downloading the free My Dublin smartphone app, which shows real-time bus information. The Green Luas ( tram) line is five minutes away, and serves South Dublin. There is a Dublin Bikes station at the end of the street, and I have a card available for guests to use.

Conor was an amazing host! Such a nice guy and his guide books is great if you're looking for places to eat or hang out near the apt. The apt was beautiful and very clean, the room was nice big and full of light. Very happy to have stayed with Conor!
What a great experience! We truly enjoyed our stay in Conor's lovely townhouse. The neighbourhood was safe, so charming and loaded with nice cafés, bars and restaurants.
+ super comfy huge bed
+ townhouse is practically located, everything you need (shops, bus stop, city bike station etc) is close by
We especially appreciated the personal attention to details and comfort of the traveller. Conor was hospitable, extremely helpful, thoughtful and very kind. He and Kay (his cleaner) gave us a lot of great recommendations and useful tips. The fridge was stocked with breakfast essentials, like milk, OJ and eggs.
Conor's place deserves a superstar rating, for sure!
Conor welcomed us to the house, made sure we got our bearings, and set up with some supplies. The area is great, close to the action on Camden Road, but with the quiet of the canal just there, and an easy walk into the town centre. Conor's guidance on local food, drink (especially coffee) and leisure was note perfect. He was a very considerate and helpful host. It was great to be in Dublin and have a more local experience, and also access to a well-fitted out kitchen.
Thank you so much for a great stay in your lovely home. We had the best time. Everything was perfect. The townhouse is in such a great location, so accessible to all. We fell in love with the neighborhood, especially evening walks along the canal. I wish we could have met you.
Thank you for a great experience.

The accommodations were exactly as shown, the location is great for getting around Dublin & even the airport is accessible by public transit. Conor was there to greet me and provide some orientation to the neighbourhood and his home. Simply put, a comfortable and positive experience. Thanks Conor!
A lovely house and a nice quiet location very near the city centre. Conor was not around when we stayed, but his house guest Alba was very accommodating. We arrived early in the morning and they were very flexible with the check in and out times, making the stay a more convenient options over hostel/hotel stay.
I loved Conor's townhouse! I found it full of character and charm, and it sits just off the lovely Grand Canal full of floating, sometimes conversant swans. The bedroom has abundant space and light. The bed is comfortable, the view from the bathroom compelling. The Portobello neighborhood is quiet, prepossessing. All was ideal.
