Interaction with Guests
I only see guests when meeting them for keys.
Centrally located in one of the most desirable neighborhoods in Portland. Downtown is just a short walk away. Or stay close-by and enjoy the chill neighborhood vibe and restaurants that Portland has become so famous for. Distillery Row and many brew-pubs are all within walking distance! There are only a few other places to stay in this zip-code which makes this unit a real gem!
Downtown is so close you can walk there in 20-25 minutes. Take a walk along the river-front, check out the lovely rose gardens in Ladd's Addition, or head just two blocks up to Colonel Summers Park and you might be treated to the sounds of Modest Mouse rehearsing nearby. Like most of Portland, the neighborhood has a reputation for being very safe... you never need to worry about walking places alone or at night or anything like that.
You can take the #15 bus that stops just across the street. If you bring a car, there is also plenty of on-street non-metered parking. Car2Go member?.. we have Car2Go's here! Cabs can be called and on average arrive within ten minutes. If you bring a bike, there is a bike storage room in the building.
Other Things to Note
If there is anything I can do to make your stay more comfortable, please don't hesitate to ask. While I am out of your hair after you check in, I am only a phone call or text away should anything arise.. happy to help!
As you can probably tell when you first arrive, I like to keep the place clean and tidy. I kindly ask that you do everything you can to keep it that way during your stay. There is a vacuum cleaner, broom, mop, and other cleaning supplies. Even any mishaps should occur, please attend to them right away.
Terrible experience! We arrived after our check-in time and the apartment wasn’t ready. The lady cleaning it was very nice, but didn’t make up for how much of a dump the place turned out to be. Any decor elements that made the pictures appear warm and inviting are gone. In reality the “vintage charm” is just a dirty and dark rundown studio that needs to be scrubbed and repainted. Though the studio had just been cleaned and smelled of bleach, the entire space still felt dirty and reeked of Chinese food and day old fish. The smell was so bad it gave us both headaches and didn’t dissipate until the next day. Most importantly to me, is that the apartment is on the ground floor about six feet away from a parking lot. We had to have the windows open because of the heat and there was zero privacy or security. If you look closely at the pictures you can kind of see a chain-link fence through the windows. I wish the owner had explicitly mentioned this in his posting. It felt very unsafe and as I women would never stay there alone, or have rented the apartment for us having know this. Overall we felt duped.
The apartment was in a great area! It was easy to walk to all of the great areas we wanted to visit! The kitchen had everything we needed to go to a nearby grocery store and make a few meals to save money (there's a nearby farmer's market and fresh seafood market as well!) Our stay was terrific and there was a lot to do nearby. Our only issue was that Trystan was impossible to get ahold of prior to our stay (Airbnb message, email, text, and voicemail), so I got nervous that I wouldn't have a place to stay. However, about 24 hours before we were scheduled to arrive, I got a premade message. It seems like he rents this frequently and has his system pretty automated. Not a huge deal, since he did eventually let us know where to find the key and all.
Great studio apartment in a quite building. Convenient location within walking distance of many restaurants, bars and shops. We had everything we needed... Thank you for a wonderful stay in Portland!
Trystan's place worked out great! In terms of location, it was walking distance to many different restaurants and breweries. It also felt pretty safe walking around at night. The apartment, itself, was perfect in size for two people. Everything was clean and in great working order as well - easy to get onto the wifi, water in the shower heated up nicely, and the shower drained nicely (cause you all know it sucks when you've got a place with a shower that doesn't drain).
Trystan was also very easy to work with. I would stay at his place again and definitely recommend it to others.
First, let me say that the apartment was almost perfectly located. The neighborhood was safe, the building was secure, there was ample parking, and the tenants in the building were quiet and respectful. It is also located walking distance from a great late night taco eatery, solid coffee places, and really really good food. It is pretty central to most popular areas of Portland, especially if you have a car. The apartment itself was very clean, pretty comfortable, and had a good amount of room for 2 people. Plus it had a full working kitchen which was a plus. We also found Trystan to be reliable to provide all the information necessary for the stay. He promptly contacted us upon our arrival to arrange the pick up and texted small amounts of important information. In it's essence he was everything you will need in a Airbnb host.
My only minor dispute was that the room did not look like the one pictured in the listing. There wasn't nearly the same furniture (in fact there was drastically less), nor was there nearly the amount of lamps and natural light shown. If the apartment is important to you, then you might want to ask for an up to date picture. The main room had two main pieces of furniture: a comfortable bed facing a large couch. Over head there was a single light with no cover and just a bulb. Now, the apartment had great character and like I said was more than great. It just wasn't exactly as pictured.
In the end, I'd recommend Trystan as a host and this cozy studio any day. It really made us feel like locals and placed us exactly where we wanted to be.
Great experience: responsive (yet invisible!) host, cute & clean & comfortable apartment, easy access, fun neighborhood. Would happily repeat when opportunity arises.
The place was great and as described. It is in an excellent area with access to many good restaurants and breweries by walking or a quick Uber for a few bucks. Trystan was super communicative and answered the couple questions we had along the way. The building is quiet and we were not disturbed at all by neighbors. WiFi was great to have so we could plan our days out before leaving. Bed was comfortable as was the whole place. Nice kitchen if you wanted to cook (we didn't).
