Make the heart of Southeast your home during your visit to Portland in this charming 1920's studio apartment. It's quiet, private, and cozy; a perfect home-base while exploring all that the neighborhood and city has to offer!
Stay here and experience the best of Portland in a vintage 1920's apartment. You will have the entire apartment to yourself. It's a large fully furnished studio apartment. The space is suitable one person or a couple and would be ideal for short-term or long-term stays.
Help yourself to the locally roasted Stumptown coffee and breakfast goodies: oatmeal, frozen waffles, and yogurt.
The space has fast, reliable WIFI so you can kick back and watch Netflix, work, whatever.
There is an indoor bike storage and locking area but I also don't mind if you keep a bike in the unit itself.
The bed is a queen size mattress. Fresh bedding is always provided for each new guest. There are four pillows (feather and synthetic), cotton sheets, and a down comforter.
There is a full kitchen with range, oven, and fridge along with everything you might need to cook - pot's, pans, dishes, etc...
Clean bath towels and hand towels are provided. There is ample toilet paper, and help yourself to the shampoo, conditioner, and soaps.
There is Scrabble, Yahtzee, and more... help yourself!
There is coin-operated laundry on site.
When you arrive, I will meet with you and give you your own set of keys and the space is yours for the time scheduled.
Everything. When you arrive I will give you keys and you will have the entire unit to yourself.
I only see guests when meeting them for keys.
Centrally located in one of the most desirable neighborhoods in Portland. Downtown is just a short walk away. Or stay close-by and enjoy the chill neighborhood vibe and restaurants that Portland has become so famous for. Distillery Row and many brew-pubs are all within walking distance! There are only a few other places to stay in this zip-code which makes this unit a real gem!
Downtown is so close you can walk there in 20-25 minutes. Take a walk along the river-front, check out the lovely rose gardens in Ladd's Addition, or head just two blocks up to Colonel Summers Park and you might be treated to the sounds of Modest Mouse rehearsing nearby. Like most of Portland, the neighborhood has a reputation for being very safe... you never need to worry about walking places alone or at night or anything like that.
You can take the #15 bus that stops just across the street. If you bring a car, there is also plenty of on-street non-metered parking. Car2Go member?.. we have Car2Go's here! Cabs can be called and on average arrive within ten minutes. If you bring a bike, there is a bike storage room in the building.
If there is anything I can do to make your stay more comfortable, please don't hesitate to ask. While I am out of your hair after you check in, I am only a phone call or text away should anything arise.. happy to help!
The apartment is nothing special but definitely serviceable. The location was great (super quick bus to downtown) with plenty of places within walking distance: Zell's Cafe, The Commons Brewery, Meat Cheese Bread, Beer, Voodoo Too, etc. For $86/night, you can't really find a better bang for your buck.
Trystan was readily available to answer any questions I had, great communication through text/email. The apartment was perfect for our needs, right on one of the main roads with plenty of free parking around the building. The space is big enough for two people and in a quiet building/area. I would stay here again.
Trystan was very accommodating and the place was perfect. I couldn't recommend his place enough.
Trystan was great. Very responsive yet unobtrusive.
The apartment is simple but clean, comfortable and in a convenient neighborhood. I would certainly recommend this place to anyone!
Trystan's place is much smaller and darker than it looks in the photographs.
The bed is next to the front door, with the sofa at the foot of the bed. Trystan's stuff is everywhere, leaving no space for us to put any of our own things. Trystan lives in this apartment and temporarily moves out when guests arrive.
On a bright and sunny morning there was almost no natural light in the apartment. The power failed on our first morning and we lost time trying to get it fixed and had to get ready in the dark and with no power to use amenities.
The apartment is not clean. The bathroom in particular was very dirty. We like to rent apartments when we travel so that we can cook, but we did not feel comfortable cooking in this kitchen because it was not clean, especially inside the fridge.
We booked this place for four nights, but for all the above reasons we only stayed for two, shelling out extra money to move to a hotel. We emailed Trystan to tell him we were leaving, stating our concerns, and politely requested a refund for the two nights we didn't stay. He totally ignored the message and we never heard back from him. This suggests he is completely unconcerned about his guests and their comfort.
This listing is inaccurate, misleading, and extremely poor value for what we got - at $147 a night this is way overpriced. We feel robbed.
Hi Shane, I'm sorry you weren't happy with the unit. The title of my listing is "Studio Apartment."
I will let future guests know about the power issue and tell them not to run the lights, heater, and the iron at the same time as that seemed to be the cause of the breaker tripping. There is a dedicated hanging clothing rack and hangers for guests in the closet which is usually suitable for two but perhaps I should purchase an additional dresser. My refund policy is prominently posted in my listing.
Trystan was very friendly, flexible with our timing and helpful during our trip. He spent some time with us initially orienting us to the area, and was quick to reply during our stay with tips/tricks, even offering to get an iron at some point in response to a need.
While not in the center of a bustling neighborhood (great for street parking and fast access downtown), there were several gems a few blocks away like the Green Dragon Bistro's outdoor beer garden with their own botanical brews and a gazillion other awesome beers on 30 taps. Similarly, super unique beers at Cascade Sour House, and a .5 mile walk to the Water Street Industrial area with the original Hair of the Dog Brewery and Boke Bowl for great Ramen.
The space was cozy and comfortable - best for coming back to at night, chilling/resting and as a base of operations. It's in a larger building with several other units, and we weren't disturbed by upstairs or other neighbors. It was super clean when we arrived.
The apartment was nice, well located and convenient for walking and biking to shops, restaurants, etc. Only met Trystan briefly to go over the place and get the keys and wifi password. This was my first airBnB rental, and it was a good experience.
I was there during a hot spell and the apartment did not have AC (not surprising for Portland) but was not bad given the outside heat due to the location of the apartment in the building.
Minimal noise from the other apartments and the unit is a corner one away from the street so had no sleeping issues.
Portland is a great city to visit. Great restaurants and brew pubs. The public transportation system is excellent and most people were friendly. We walked almost everywhere, making use of the bus & light rail system.
The rental is located in the SE section near a bus line and the city center can be reached by foot, however that requires walking through some rough looking industrial sections that I would avoid at night.
Some great pubs and restaurants within walking distance of the rental. There were also many homeless camped within 3 blocks of that location. They did not give us any trouble.
The rental is located in an older, somewhat worn building on the ground floor. The tenants were quiet and we had no problems in that respect.
The studio apartment was adequate in size, easy to enter and there were clean towels, and the usual furniture. There was a hair dryer. The bathroom had been cleaned with the exception of "ring around the bathtub". Very good water pressure and plenty of hot water. The toilet and shower worked fine.
The remainder of the apartment was dirty and dusty giving the appearance of NOT having been cleaned for some time. The kitchen was very dirty with lots of dried food sticking to the stove and to a lesser degree the counter tops. The fridge was filthy. My wife and I spent well over an hour cleaning the place including the kitchen floor which was sticky. There were ants in the kitchen, (NBD). We did not see any other forms of infestation.
The place would have worked for us IF it had been cleaned and I feel we were mislead in that respect.
We cannot recommend this rental because of the misrepresentation concerning the above.
Trystan was very cordial and made us feel welcome. The space was comfortable and clean as shown in the photos. The location was a perfect spot to get around the city easily! Definitely recommended.
Perfect stay in a great location. Thanks Trystan!
