Interaction with Guests
Jay is available for questions about the area and apartment; Cynthia teaches and is sometimes gone but would love to meet you if she is here. Jay is available if you have questions.
A rural setting on the edge of Salem. Because of the tall trees and surrounding acreage, civilization seems far away. Easy access from I-5, plenty of restaurants nearby, as well as larger stores and food markets. We are one hour south of Portland, one hour east of the coast, one hour west of Cascades, one hour north of Eugene.
5 miles south of downtown Salem. City bus stop 1/4 mile away.
Other Things to Note
Gravel driveway, no covered parking. Lucy is a lab-mix, and friendly; Milo is a grey Manx cat, friendly and curious.
No smoking. Cynthia is asthmatic.
Small pets may be allowed; please ask first.
Check-in after 2pm; check-out by noon, although we can be flexible.
Drive slowly on property; animals present.
Retreat is the right word.
I had a lovely stay at the Herrons' place. The setting was peaceful, the apt was as described: private, clean, warm, spacious and well-equipped. What I had forgotten from the description was the cozy gas-fireplace with a window to see the flames. Both Jay and Cynthia provided a warm welcome and were very reachable.
We am so glad we stayed here. We had to get there late and they were very understanding about everything. They provided basic amenities like coffee, soap, laundry detergent. The room was cozy without being too crowded.
Thanks again for another restful stay! I'll be returning in the summer months.
This is a simple, quiet studio. We just crashed for a night, but it'd be a fine place to stay for a while, with a full kitchen and bathroom and a comfy bed. It's right in South Salem, not too far from downtown, but has a country feel. Jay was very kind and conversational and gave us a nice tour of the property. (And Lucy the dog is a sweetie, too!)
Jay went above and beyond to welcome us at our ridiculous arrival time (airline schedule, not mine). We had everything we needed and felt relaxed and safe! A great choice for 1-2 on an extended stay.
Cynthia and Jay are delightful people and hosts. The scene at the retreat is very peaceful and comfortable, surrounded by tall trees and horses you feel as if you are far into the country but the city is so close by! It was a very pleasant experience and stay.
Our hosts made us feel very welcome. We met Jay upon arrival and their dog Lucy. Jay showed us around. Their place is just on the edge of being in the country. Very quiet and a convenient location to shops and s. Commercial St. It was just as they had described it and looks like the pictures. We were very comfortable there. It's in a nice neighborhood and surrounded by acreage.
