The space

Single bedroom with shared bathroom. No meals catered for but amenities to cook, can arrange for cereal, bread and fruit to be available. Tea & coffee available all day. Nightly or short term let. Single €35 per night. Double room also available €45 per night.

Close to city centre (20min on the bus) with bus stop at entrance to estate. The airport bus stops 10 min walk from the house (the journey from the airport takes 30 min). Lucan area of Dublin. There's also a train station 15 minutes away that would take you to the Dublin city centre and to Kildare.

There are quite a few annual events worth knowing about before you book your holiday. First, of course, there's St Patrick's Day, still by far the biggest entry in the Dublin calendar. It's now celebrated with plentiful pints of the black stuff the world over, but Dublin is the fun's epicentre. As long as you can cope with the crowds, the weather and the queues, there's no better place to enjoy it.

Calmer heads prevail in the summer at the excellent Dublin Writers Festival and the Bloomsday Festival: the latter celebrates the works of James Joyce, while the former pulls in some of the world's best writers. That sort of thing would bore the bejaysus out of most of the people packed into the stands for the Six Nations rugby tournament each spring, of course. But then, to each his own.

Excellent. Accurate. Very friendly host. And Sheila gave me a lift to a nearby Hotel her I was attending a wedding. But save me up at €20 on a taxi.

I spent a month at home with Sheila. I'm, not only satisfied, but also very happy to this month. Sheila is a very kind person, always nice, kind and patient, and especially very very fun. Her puppies are adorable. I was looking for only an accommodation, but I found an HOME and a FAMILY. I recommend it to anyone who needs go to Dublin. And Thank you Sheila, you are an amazing person.

Sheila provided a home away from home for me. I have used Airbnb twice now, and both the service and the hosts have been excellent. Sheila went above and beyond what was required, and more than exceeded the promised welcome advertised on the website. She is a natural at hosting, and makes everyone feel welcome. The bedroom was excellent, and the rest of the house was up to the same high standard. I liked the pets especially, they were well behaved and fun to have around. I came and went from the house as I pleased, since the bus system to the city center is frequent and reliable; also, there are many shops in the locality, not least the Liffey Valley Town Center just a short bus ride away. I recommend Sheila for all kinds of stays, long or short.

Sheila was a lovely host, very friendly, welcoming and helpful. She has definitely found the right balance for being a sociable host whilst allowing you your own space. The room was great, and the location good... just a short walk to a bus stop into town. Am very pleased to have stayed and would recommend to all.
