Interaction with Guests
I am available by phone 24-7, but stay off property when the house is rented. There is another separate dwelling on the property, which I have rented to the same couple for over 10 years.
Gig Harbor has it all. Mountains, water, old growth forest, small town life & city life within 10 minute drive. The property is quite secluded, but only a short drive to shops, restaurants, grocery stores, & other amenities. Located midway between the Olympic Mountain Range & Mount Rainer, it's a great hub from which to explore. Highlights include a fully stocked trout pond on property (catch & release), multiple golf courses, the Tacoma Narrows bridge, and the Tacoma Rainers baseball team (Seattle Mariners Triple-A affiliate play just 10 minutes away).
There is plenty of parking on site at the lodge. Public transit is available, but not ideal for this location.
Other Things to Note
You have a unique opportunity when considering Harbor Creek Lodge for your vacation rental.
That's because we have all of the space and amenities you'd need to host large family reunions, corporate retreats, and weekend getaways. But also because by choosing to rent this house, you will be giving back to the community by supporting the work of Urban Hands, a certified non-profit, providing meals & job training to the homeless and hungry in Puget Sound. For every night this beautiful home is booked, we will donate $50 to Urban Hands, which covers the cost of 25 meals!
For more information about this non-profit, please visit (website hidden)
We cannot host events on the property due to zoning issues. This includes weddings, memorials, fundraisers, etc.
There is another home on the property with year-round renters as well.
I expect my guests to treat the lodge in the manner they would treat their own home. Pets are not allowed unless previously authorized, and smoking is not allowed in the house.

This was my second time being with a large group in this space. The first time as a participant, and this time as an event organizer. I LOVE this space and working with Jim. Great communication, clean and spacious property, multi-purpose spaces, and a short drive from Seattle. I will not hesitate to return with another group in the future!
Jim was very nice. The group before us ran a little long, but Jim was very apologetic and made sure everything was in good shape. Our group really enjoyed the pool and ping pong games, plus the hot tub.
Great venue for a men's retreat, boy scouts, or a youth group. Very spacious, nice rooms, comfortable beds, and beautiful surroundings. The pond was ice cold - which was perfect. The hot tub was really nice for sore muscles after a long hike. We enjoyed the pool table, ping-pong, basketball hoop, and poker table too! Just a few minutes drive from Gig Harbor for coffee or breakfast. All things considered, this unique and rustic house met our needs perfectly.
About the Host, Jim
I am 59 years old and own a large catering company in Seattle. I am very active in a number of ministries in Seattle, Young life and have a heart for kids and people. I often have large groups of college kids from the UW and UPS for small retreats of 50 people for the weekend. I am a non smoker and drinker and love to collect cars, Alaskan art work, have lived in Alaska, and enjoy the outdoors.
Why Gig Harbor:
I bought this incredible estate as a wedding venue and ended up enjoying it so much that I have lived there the past 14 years and commute to Seattle everyday for work. Everyday I wake up and realize how fortunate I am to have a property like this and to have shared it with thousands of college and high school kids over the years. I bought in Gig Harbor because it was within an hour of driving from Seattle.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
The property is totally private and has a 4 block long driveway into the property and a wonderful small lake with fresh water that is great for wildlife and swimming. The estate has a 1/2 basketball court inside, outdoor hot tub, game room with foosball, pool table, table tennis, dance floor with disco ball and a full wet bar. Inside I also have my collection of 13 classic cars with couches, bistro tables and memorabilia. There is a full gourmet kitchen for cooking and entertaining off the large living and dining room.
