Smoking inside is not allowed. Both gardens can be used. You can use some of the lemons for your tea or salad, they are 100% biological. As for check in I will give instructions case by case to make your stay and the stay of other guests as confortable as possible.
The bedroom with a view ... some fireworks on a Saturday night to enjoy from the bed..
My wife found this property. She loved the pics. A private rooftop-like garden in back? Lemon trees? My wife chose out-of-the-way battistini for this reason.
Els was prompt about getting back to us and answering any questions. We arrived very late and she offered to arrange a driver for less than it normally costs to catch a taxi from the airport. My brother was in Rome at the same time, and Els, at no charge, offered to put a bed in the small kitchen area near the bathroom. He ultimately decided to stay elsewhere. A good thing, as I will soon discuss.
The bed was comfortable. The shower pressure and temperature were great.
The downsides: the sliding glass doors to the front balcony are cracked. The blinds don't roll down properly. The rooftop-garden in back is not private at all. Technically, the entire building next door can use it, and we never did find out how to turn the lights on.
The aircon in the bedroom leaked on our second night, dripping near our electronic devices recharging on a power strip. Fortunately, nothing was ruined.
The real downer: on our second day, construction workers showed up at 8am to perform serious work in the porch area of our property. Try to imagine four guys drilling, digging, etc. Els gave us no forewarning. We were on our way out at 9am, so we were up anyway. On our last morning, they showed up at 8am again to perform more work. A man in a coma could not sleep through this. Again, not a word of warning from Els. As I emerged from the shower downstairs, repairmen could see me thru the window into the kitchen. What if my brother had decided to stay with us? 1 meter would separate his bed from the repair crew outside! He would have written a more scathing review than mine, and would you blame him?
If she had wanted to perform repairs, why rent out the property during that time? If this need for repair work had come up AFTER we booked, could she not have delayed until our departure and not rented the place for 3 days. What do you think my last memory of staying there will be? Stepping over mounds of dirt and pipes to get to the gate. Els did ask what time we were leaving, but this had nothing to do with timing the repair work. We said 11am..she still send the crew at 8am.
We never actually met Els. She was great about asking us if we had a good time at her pad, terrible about insuring whether we actually did.
Very sad and surprised to read this review and I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience. The rooftop garden is my garden to which only myself and my kids have access and is rarely used. Indication on how to switch on the light is in the brief instructions that are available to guests within the apartment. The aircon leak has been brought up to me for the first time by the current guests and a technician has been promptly alerted. This has never leaked before. As for the construction workers I was not aware they would come during your stay, as I had asked the company to pre-alert whenever they would do the work. I had communicated the possible days to them in which no guests would have been there. I would have stopped the works if I would have made aware of this straight away. So sorry to hear the complaints afterwards. Guest experience comes first at all times, would have loved to 'fix anything possible on the spot'.
We were only there for one night, but it was a wonderful experience. The neighborhood is great & safe, and we felt like locals exploring the bars and the fruit shops. The train station - Battistini - is at the end of the road which is great for access into other areas. It's a small cottage place that has a separate entrance and a beautiful sit out area. Els helped organize a pickup from the airport and her son Thomas helped us settle in well, once we arrived. It's clear to see Els has had many happy travelers pass through her place, with the global map that marks everyone who has stayed there. Els also helped organize our tickets to Naples, which was very kind. Thank you Thomas and Els for the warm welcome into Rome!
Very pleasant stay, everything was perfect! Els is really nice, welcoming and understanding. She cared a lot about our well being and gave us lots of assistance. Her place is clean, lovely, relaxing and easy to reach tourist sites. We will definitely stay at Els's place if we go back to Rome and recommend it to you all!
Els place was incredible! It was a delightful and quiet little place to come back to after our long days of trekking through Rome. It is a tiny bit far from all the action which is nice when you are ready for some quiet but maybe tough if you want to go out and experience Rome nightlife as the metro stops running around midnight. We did take a taxi from town center one time and it was only about 15-20 euro. Overall it was an excellent place to stay!
Excellent!!! Els was great helpful full of useful information
the apartment was as described and much nicer then the photos
The bed and linen were wonderful the internet was fast and the location was easy to get to from the Metro with her directions
Els was a great host, and her apartment was perfect! The apartment was very clean, and very spacious. We had an early flight and Els arranged for someone to take us to the airport which was very convenient. The apartment is a little far from the main tourist attractions, but close to the metro which provides direct access to anywhere you want to go. Overall we had a great time!!
