The Space

This apartment is totaly independant and not shared with anyone.

We are located 15 minutes to Manhattan direct to Times Square by bus.

If you were to stay in the Bronx it would take you 40 min to get to Times Square. If you were to Stay in Brooklyn it would take you the same amount of time as subways in Brooklyn are not direct. If you were to stay in Manhattan you would not find a place as big as this one for this price.

There are many buses going direct to the City in the heart of Times Square. 24/7 bus services to the City. The bus stop is just around the corner from the house.

Transportation is probably underrated. There are about 3 -4 major bus routes which go along the cliff coming into port authority in about 20 min. There is a free bus to a ferry at the bottom of the cliff which comes round every 10 min. There are also the little jitney buses which come around every few minutes get you into town. So across the official NJ Transit, the little jitney buses and the ferry you can get into town at any time within about 20 min. Oh yes there is another bus into hoboken from boulevard east (road on the cliff) as well.

The bus will take you to Port Authority 42nd St subway station (lines A, C, E). This station is a central subway hub and you can easily walk to lines 1, 2, 3, 7, N, Q and R. (Important: Subway tickets cost $2.5 per ride but you can buy 7-days unlimited pass at $29)

The apartment is an independent 3 bedroom

It is equipped with bed linens, towel and private bath, cable TV in each room, WIFI

It has a nice balcony overlooking the garden where you may use the BBQ

There are many little restaurant near the house and the neighborhood is safe.

The house is located a block away from Boulevard East where you will see breathtaking views of the Manhattan and million dollar houses!

Best panoramic view if you ask me.

  • Great location. It was a good experience overall. The location was exactly as described. I would definitely stay here again. Miyoko was extremely helpful and understanding.

  • Our stay was great. The hosts (owners) are fabulous. But to clarify, Miyoko is the manager, not the host. She handles the details of the reservations. Blanca and Raul are the owners and hosts. They meet you there to explain things and help you with anything you need. Miyoko sent us an e-mail with all sorts of information, which was very helpful and she arranged a time to meet with Raul and Blanca. Our Thanks, Miyoko. We were early and while we were starting to unload, Blanca and Raul came by and helped with parking (we parked either in front of their garage or in the garage, when that was available). Thanks Blanca and Raul, it was a pleasure staying with you and if we are in the area again, you are our first choice.

Travel into the city is very convenient. The bus to the city stops three houses away. On the return it is about three times further. NJ transit is much better than the jitneys. Both go from the same bus stop to the 42nd street bus station. From there the subway system takes you wherever you want to go.

The apartment is clean, bright, nice and spacious. The beds are comfortable. The only quirky thing is the bathroom light switch, but once you figure that out there are no problems. The wifi is easy to connect to and speedy. We have no complaints at all.

  • The listing is what we expected and it was nice to be so close to the city with a beautiful skyline of Manhattan to watch as we took the easy access bus line in and out of the city. The cherry trees at this time of the year right by the apartment were gorgeous.

  • The apartment was as advertised, and as pictured. Host's family member was on site, and was friendly and helpful. Miyoko was easy to deal with, and quick to respond to all communication.

The apartment is very convenient. Inside parking, and regular buses to the city right outside the door.

My first time with Air bnb. A positive experience. And, I would return to this property, or to any managed by Miyoko.

  • The place is as subscribed in that it is pretty basic and relatively clean, although we did find it a bit dusty. The managers Raul and Blanca are quite nice and accommodating. There is a nice, young family that lives on the first floor and they pretty much keep to themselves.

However, we did have some concerns that we feel are important enough to express:

The neighborhood is a typical middle class working neighborhood, the people are nice but the variety of stores and places to eat is rather limited.

The apartment itself reminds me of the late 70s early 80s in terms of the look and feel although the bed mattresses can use some upgrading. The bed in the middle bedroom is concave and not very comfortable at all. We recommend you bring your own linens as the ones provided did not feel good, especially the comforters. The bathroom is small so if you have children it may be difficult to bath them.

The house itself looks a bit unkept from the outside and can use a bit of sprucing up. There are a set of concrete steps that you must navigate to get to the entry on the 2nd floor. There is no railing and at night there is no light so it can be treacherous. There is also an iron gate that does not close fully. Once inside you have to navigate a second swallow set of steps that take you to the apartment. We had our child with us so climbing those stairs with a stroller proved to be quite the task.

    4. We choice to park our SUV in the garage, but we could barely fit it in. The garage would fit a standard car comfortably, but if you have an oversized SUV you may have problems. We had about 2 inches of clearance on either side of ours. A bit of caution, the garage door does not work or lock. You have to manually pull it up and down, and it is quite heavy.

All in all we thought the place was fair. For our purposes we simply needed a place to stay while our place was being renovated. Not sure we would ever pay $135 a night again to stay, but we enjoy the area and it apartment fulfilled its purpose.
