Cute 2 bedroom 1 bathroom cabin at Sunnyslopes, a small commmunity 17 miles south of Mammoth Lakes at elevation 7,000 feet. Built in the 1940's and renovated in 2000, this cabin has it all. Cozy interior, beauthful sunny yard, fully equipped. Enjoy the beautiful views and weather from our yard while barbequing a fresh trout caught in one of the nearby streams. At the gateway to Rock Creek with its high sierra lakes and endless hiking trails. Lots of nearby climbing and mountain biking areas. Call or write us for pics and more details. Thank you.
Had a great stay at Charlie's cabin. Clean, comfortable, and relaxing. Located in a great spot just across from Tom's place, it makes for a great jumping off point for any kind of adventure in the Sierras. Charles is a great host and quickly answers any questions you might have. Highly recommended.
Really comfy and cozy. My wife and I enjoyed the cabin. The fully equipped kitchen was great. Plenty of spices in the kitchen pantry. The wood burning stove was really warm. Plus plenty of central heat as well and the water heater was really warm. We enjoyed our stay at this cabin.
Charles was really attentive and available by phone. He explained what I need to turn on/off etc. He called to check up on me and make sure everything was going well (which I appreciate). He also suggested hiking at nearby Rock Creek canyon which was really pretty.
Solo trip, spent 2 nights here in Oct 2013. Older cabin but in great condition - very comfy for a couple, 4 people will fit (has 2 br's) but you'll be in for a cozy time in the living area. Charlie is great, he provided me in advance via email all instructions to gain entry, turn on the water heater, etc. - it's all simple and he'll help you with any questions on the phone.
Unit has wood burning stove AND central forced air heating, nice! Everything is super clean. Bedrooms have good beds - BRING YOUR OWN Queen SHEETS and TOWELS - this will save you money - there is no onsite laundry to wash Charlies stuff - bring your own.
Location is as described in the Ad; it's almost right across Hwy 395 from Tom's Place w/store, cafe and bar - this is convenient.
Overall a great experience, you can't go wrong on this place and it's wonderful owner.
The cabin is very well arranged and easily accessible. It is located just across the road from the rock creek canyon and lakes and the trip up the canyon is well worth it. Charlie was quite helpful in communicating and sending detailed instructions. His cabin was updated and all inclusive with two bedrooms, comfortable beds, a full kitchen and a good heating system. There is no WIFI or tv but there is cell phone service in the area. It is a very affordable place to stay and there is no cleaning fee if you leave it cleaned and provide your own sheets and towels or use the ones in the house but launder them in town before leaving. Thanks very much, Charlie for a very nice accommodation.
I would highly recommend this cabin to anyone looking for an Eastern Sierra getaway! Set on a quiet lane off the 395, we were able to have a wonderfully relaxing weekend while still being within short driving distance of Mammoth Lakes, amazing hiking trails, numerous lakes and more. Tom's Place market and restaurant, located just down the road, was a bonus! The cabin is equipped with more than I expected (such as wine glasses, cooking spices and an awesome CD collection) and we happily made hamburgers on the grill! Cute little lawn and deck as well.
As the reviewers before me have mentioned, Charlie was the perfect host. He was extremely communicative and quickly answered any questions we had. It wouldn't have been the same without his warm and welcoming personality to work with across the miles.
This is a nice clean little place away from the rush of mammoth and close to great fishing and hiking
Charlie's place was spotlessly clean and very comfortable. Great beds! Nice neighborhood, quiet. Altho there was a little problem with turning the water on when I arrived, it was easy to resolve with Charlie's help. It was easy to reach him by phone, he was available throughout my stay. He went out of his way to be helpful by finding a way for me to store some things for a several days while I was backpacking. I'd highly recommend Charlie and his cute house.
Great cabin, great location, great host. Charles cabin was just as described (and clean, and devoid of the strange funky smells that exist in so many "rustic" cabins in the eastern sierra), and at 600 sf and 2 bedrooms it was just the right size for me and my wife & two small children. No wifi or tv, but for me the whole point of a vacation is to unplug. The location is great - I much prefer the Crowley Lake/Tom's Place area to Mammoth. Great hiking nearby - the Lower Rock Creek trail is just a couple minutes away, and there are neighborhood trails along nearby Hilton Creek as well. As others have noted Mosquito Flats trailhead is about 20 minutes away as well. Note that there is only a shower, no tub - we ended up bathing the kids in a rubbermaid container that we put in the shower stall.
My 14 month old had a grand time driving the Little Tikes car around the lawn, and found fluttering aspen leaves quite fascinating.
Charles' cabin is an amazing, cozy, relaxing place nestled near the Rock Creek Canyon. My wife and I loved it. And we loved to go hiking in that wonderful area. Besides, everything is very well organized in Charles' property. Clear instructions. Great advice. We will go back! We definitely will rent it again!
It was a great experience! The cottage is just beautiful and Charles was on top of everything. Overall great experience!!
