About This Listing
Mount Brandon Cottages are the rural idyll at the edge of town. We have it all: peace and quiet in a tranquil parkland setting, yet we are only 5 minutes walk from the medieval town of Graiguenamanagh, the Village of the Monks.
Welcome pack on arrival. :-)
Away from it all, yet only a five minutes' walk from the busy little town of Graiguenamanagh, Mount Brandon Cottages are four-star self-catering holiday cottages. There is a state-of-the-art bbq house for our guests' use. You will find all the mod cons you can wish for and we will wow you with our local knowledge, lots of insider tips and the on-site pottery studio! Fed up of being a tourist? Why not have a go at making your own pottery?
Guests have access to free WIFI, ample space in the landscaped gardens to run around and play football with the kids, a terrace with outdoor furniture, private parking, table tennis, the state-of-the art barbecue house (which some guests have used to cook their breakfast, lunch and dinner on) and much, much more...
Interaction with Guests
When guests arrive, we give them the guided tour of the premises. We live onsite, so therefore we are always on hand to answer any questions that you may have and give advice as well as plan your travel itinerary - that is, if you are interested. After the first night we check in with guests to make sure that they have no queries about the house and its many appliances. We introduce kids to the chickens and ducks on the land and let TWIG, the resident dog, demonstrate his ball and frisbee tricks for them.
Location, location, location! Mount Brandon Cottages have it all: stunning views over the Barrow River Valley, Brandon Hill and the Blackstairs Mountain Range. There are 11 pubs in Graiguenamanagh, several restaurants, a well-stocked supermarket - you will never go hungry or thirsty. You are only 1/2 an hour's drive from Kilkenny City and Carlow town, whereas 40 minutes will bring you to Waterford, with the world-renowned Waterford Crystal factory. Whether it's hillwalking, horseriding or kayaking that takes your fancy, there is lots to do around here!
A car is highly recommended, however, there is a local bus service from the town to Kilkenny City.
Other Things to Note
A child's cot as well as high chair is supplied for guests travelling with small children.
We also supply towels and bed linen free of charge.
If you wish to bring your dog, please feel free to do so. We have 2 purpose-built kennels on site.
We are doing our bit for the environment and ask our guests to follow suit. There are 3 different composting facilities here at the cottages, we separate our recycling and use low-energy appliances where possible. Please note that towels and linen are supplied free of charge, you will, however, pay for electricity and/or kerosene. We read the meter with you on arrival and again at departure - you only pay for what you have used during your stay.
We would like guests to make themselves at home, yet treat the houses with the respect they deserve.
Box sheep in the garden. Learn how to make your own sculptures or pots right here at our Pottery School.
Andrea made us feel very welcomed! She was very helpful with her communication (especially giving us detailed directions) and making sure we knew she was avalaible to help whenever and however needed. The listing was just as we would picture it. The cabins are located less than 5 minutes from a small little village ( with the longest name possible) and was a perfect little get away from the bigger places we had visted. The cabin was VERY clean and organized and the bed was quite comfortable! We didn't stay long, but we enjoyed our stay!
We had a great time at Andea's. The area is amazing and so is the unit we stayed in
We had a great time here! The host Andrea was kind and the house was beautiful. We even had scones and eggs from Andrea. I would recommend a stay here.
We had a very relaxing stay at Andrea's place. We had our own appartment with a fully equipped kitchen, two baths and bedrooms with very comfortable beds.
Andrea welcomed us very warm and explained the area in detail. The surroundings are very green with nice views and places to stay.
I recommend Andrea and her cottages to other people in all conscience.
We had come in later than expected but she waited for us. Very friendly.Comfortable cottage.
Andrea was a wonderful host and very understanding when we were quite late arriving. The holiday cottages are immaculately kept and presented and it was our pleasure to stay in beautiful Graiguenamanagh - one of Ireland's hidden secrets. See you next year.
Hi Arthur! Thanks a lot for staying with us and please pass my thanks on to the organizer for leaving the two LOUD orange t-shirts. :-)
No bother about the lack of contact, I was around that day anyway. Glad you had a good time and are considering coming to stay with us again next year! Yay! Take care and all the best, Andrea

We had a great stay at Andrea's place. The communication was perfectly and the instructions to get to the house were accurate. We were allowed to check in quite early which was very pleasant. There was a lot of info material for the area. We had a house to ourself. The house is very well equipped and clean and lies in a beautiful landscape. There were some sheep and cows around with cute little lambs :-). If we had known before that the house is such a nice place we would have stayed longer. You can easily get to Kilkenny and Waterford if you a have a car. There is a supermarket in the town. The town can be reached by a short walk.
About the Host, Andrea
An avid SCUBA diver in my spare time, I run my own business (Mount Brandon Cottages) but also manage front of house in The Waterside Restaurant in Graiguenamanagh. I enjoy diving, hillwalking and love animals (that is why I don't eat them, either). Originally from Germany I have been living in Ireland since 1997.
