About this listing
Spacious, light filled one bedroom apartment in the heart of Fitzroy. The apartment is in a prime location with amazing cafes, restaurants, shops and transport options on your doorstep. Yet it's also very peaceful and quiet and surrounded by trees.
Ideal for a single person or couple, the apartment is very light, clean and spacious with a lovely atmosphere. It is often compared to a tree-house as it is surrounded by greenery, flowers and birds. As you near the entrance stairs you are surrounded by bamboo, the front door is overlooked by a huge fig tree (bare in winter and full in summer) and the balcony and living room are shaded by an amazing and huge lemon scented gum tree whose smell wafts inside with the breeze.
Built in the 1950’s the space is clean, and the design classic. It has thick parquetry floorboards and large windows. The furnishings are stylish and uncluttered. The space is quiet and private and on entering you will notice that it has a great energy about it.
In the bedroom, there is a very comfortable, high quality queen size bed. Fresh towels and bed linen are provided. There is hanging space in the bedroom closet and ample storage for bags. The couch in the living room can sleep a third person if necessary.
The kitchen is fully equipped and has all the appliances you'll need. I only provide a basic stovetop coffee percolator as you are staying in Fitzroy! There are so many café options to be explored.
The balcony has a small table and chairs and a city view through the trees. It’s the perfect place to relax and enjoy a cold drink after a long day of sightseeing or work.
The space is comfortable and relaxing and set up for you to enjoy your time in Melbourne whether it be a long weekend, or extended stay of one to two months. The apartment is cleaned by a professional cleaner.
The apartment has wireless Internet access. There are all sorts of books and brochures about things to do in Melbourne.
The shared laundry has a washing machine and dryer. There is full access on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and shared access on other days.
There is an off street parking space for one car.
Once the reservation is confirmed I’ll send through the check in details. Check in is at 3pm and check out at 11am. Late arrivals are fine as I can leave the keys waiting for you in a lock box. If you need to drop your bags off earlier, just let me know when you make the reservation as it is often possible to arrange this.
Interaction with Guests
The apartment is your own quiet and private retreat right in the heart of Melbourne. I am overseas at the moment so I won’t be there to meet and greet you when you arrive. I have a Property Manager who is available if there is an emergency so I will provide her details once the reservation is booked. Of course I am also available on email or text message if you have questions at any time. On arrival you will also find comprehensive information about the apartment and things to do in the area.
The apartment is located in the heart of Fitzroy - one of the most iconic, vibrant, hip and central neighbourhoods in Melbourne. Fitzroy is known for the best shops, restaurants, bars, galleries, music, graffiti, street life and people watching. Truthfully, there is too much going on to begin to list it all!
Walk to Brunswick St, Gertrude St, Smith St, Lygon St and the Melbourne CBD. The apartment is located opposite Carlton Gardens, Exhibition Buildings and the Melbourne Museum. It is close to Melbourne University, RMIT and St Vincent’s Hospital.
All important services are within short walking distance. There are two supermarkets, many cafes, banks, pharmacies, bakeries, restaurants, parks, a cinema, music venues and more.
Walk to Brunswick St, Gertrude St, Smith St, Lygon St and the Melbourne CBD (less than 1km or 10-15 mins). I have guests tell me that they didn't end up taking any transport as there is so much to explore on foot.
The trams 86, 96 and 112 are all within a five minute walk. Parliament Train Station is a ten minute walk (or 3 minute tram ride) and can take you anywhere in Melbourne.
There are many bike paths in the area. If you feel like hiring a bike and discovering Melbourne as a local, The Humble Vintage is just around the corner.
Sports enthusiasts can easily access the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), Melbourne Tennis Centre and Etihad Stadium on public transport.

It was a beautiful experience, such a beauty of a home, well kept and inviting!
Rebecca proved to us that being overseas is no barrier to being an warm and welcoming host! We arrived to an immaculate and light-filled Treehouse apartment were pleasantly surprised by fresh towels left for us on the bed etc. The apartment itself is super quiet despite being so conveniently located - which, for us, was the main selling point. Fitzroy is a phenomenal area for a quick visit to Melbourne.
I spent most of my time at the exceptionally good record stores which were just a 10 minute walk away (Polyester / Northside / Dixon Recycled), we loved crawling to Slowpoke for coffee each morning. Industry Bean also does excellent coffee and unique breakfasts.
All in all, as our first Airbnb experience, it
The Treehouse apartment was perfect! Rebecca was a great host, leaving out detailed instructions for the apartment and some general information on the suburb and surrounds. I had a few questions for Rebecca regarding check in/out and although she was overseas, she was still quick to respond and gave us the contact details for her cleaner in case of emergency.
The apartment was in such a perfect location. Inside the apartment was nice and cozy and quiet, however after exiting the apartment and walking a couple of minutes you could be in central Fitzroy on Brunswick st, or at one of the amazing little cafes of one of the other surrounding streets.
The tram direct to the city was just a small walk away, and Rebecca leaves some public transport cards that you can use (and top up before you leave) for your trip. The apartment is also walking distance into the city, so if it is a nice day i'd recommend skipping the tram and going into the city by foot.
When we arrived the place was spotless, the cleaner that Rebecca uses does a great job. It was such a nice touch that the pantry and bathroom cupboard had a few things stocked in them. The place feels like home.
The apartment is probably best suited for two people, however because we didn't spend much time in the apartment (and why would you with all that the city has to offer?) it was a great place for the three of us to stay for four nights.
We absolutely loved the Treehouse Apartment. The location was perfect and the apartment was warm and cosy. Everything we needed was there and the bed was so comfortable. The area was quiet while being very close to the heart of Fitzroy. We had a car (and parking space) but didn't need to use the car as two tram lines were close by. I would thoroughly recommend this apartment. It was our first experience of airbnb and it was such a positive one. Thanks Rebecca.
Thanks Rebecca! We loved your place! Was cute and clean and in a great location.. We especially loved the proximity to all the amazing vegetarian restaurants along Brunswick street. Rebecca replied to all my emails within a day and I would definitely recommend anyone going to Melbourne to stay in her apartment. Thank you again.
Quite simply the best place to stay in Melbourne ! - quiet, comfortable with everything you need and a nice stroll through the park to the city.
We will be back!
Great place set up with everything you need. Brilliant location, close to shops and restaurants and easy access to the city. Excellent water pressure in the shower. Rebecca was lovely to deal with and super accommodating - allowing me to check-in early. I would definitely stay here again. Thanks Rebecca
About the Host, Rebecca
Lover of art, dance, music, love, laughter, water and the magic and mystery of life. I listed my much-loved apartment on airbnb in November 2011 as I took off on a three month dancing trip to the San Francisco Bay Area. It’s now almost three years of sharing my beautiful home with people from all over the world. I love being part of the airbnb community. It’s a very sweet, connecting experience. Happy travels!
