About this listing
Located in artistic Little Forest Hills near the Dallas Arboretum and White Rock Lake, this place has a full kitchen and bikes available to ride. This is a perfect place to relax and enjoy outdoor beauty in the landscaped back yard.
This house is art deco with a few bohemian touches. The place is clean but it's an old house with some quirks. There's a garden in the back for guests to use in the summer months when it's growing.
My check-in times are flexible but I appreciate time to clean the place before you arrive and when you leave. I clean usually in the morning before you arrive and after you leave mid-day or so. You'll have your own key which I will give you or text about its location if I'm not able to meet you at your preferred check-in time. I have a beautiful television and Netflix available for guests. There's free WiFi and free washer and dryer usage. You'll have a full kitchen, two bathrooms--one with a shower and tub and the other with just a shower. One bedroom has a full bed and the other has a king sized bed.
One important thing: The place really only accommodates four or fewer guests. Extra guests are welcome at $30 per extra head nightly. I
hate to be stiff but I've learned my lessons. People have a wide range of habits, you see. Some people require a big towel each for bathmat, pillow, hair, and body. Others will dry off with the same washcloth for a week. Some people take double, triple showers every day and do laundry every day--separate loads per person. Discovering this tickled me really. It's kool that we're all so different. It also showed me that I need to afford the more consumptive habits that become a financial danger as the head count rises. Charging for extra guests helps me do that. Thanks for understanding!
Interaction with Guests
I live in the guesthouse behind the place. I'll be happy to give you a tour of my neighborhood, which is very interesting to look at!
Just a short five minute walk from the entrance of the Dallas Arboretum and the East end of White Rock Lake, this is an ideal location to rest and relax. We have a variety of wildlife that gives the area a unique feel. Just around the corner is a store where you can rent extra bikes and loop the 9 miles of White Rock in an hour and a half. You can also rent a sailboat or paddle boards and take advantage of the lake itself. We have a trickle of cafes and restaurants, like mom and pop's Italian, barbecue, and Asian. And you have to check out Hyponotic donuts and ice-cream.
You'll love my neighborhood of Little Forest Hills. Its motto is "Keep Little Forest Hills Funky", referencing its 10-year campaign to keep out builders who tear down old homes in favor of starter castles that tax out our residents. I'd say it is "fashionably funky" and since it houses more artists per capita than any other neighborhood in the Metroplex, it's fun to gawk at the yards here.
There are bus stops near my house that will take you downtown but you'll probably need a car unless you have a lot of time. I have a bike rack and there are rentals around the corner. The Dallas buses and trains also allow bikes.
Other Things to Note
-free internet TV
-Pets are welcome
-I would appreciate it so much if you could clean the home before you leave. This shouldn't take long, since I do a deep clean before each guest. It will just be an easier clean for me since I do all the work myself.
From Jun 1 - Aug 31, 2016 the minimum stay is 3 nights.
Hi, I'm Meagan! I have been doing Airbnb for almost three years now and I love it! It's been a perfect fit for my single life in a big house after losing my husband. Social by nature, I hang out with kids at my speech therapy job and my nights are devoted to my two young foster fail dogs, Gator Dog and Smiley Pants, and a very grumpy and funny old cat named Sammy. Through Airbnb I've gotten to know a lot of interesting people. I met house hunters who ended up being my friends and neighbors. Medical interns who gave me some awesome health tips. I even met my boyfriend on here! I would love to give you recommendations for the area. The sporty types will love Top Golf. The bohemians will love the Farmer's Market and free public yoga. Foodies can't miss uptown. Art lovers, have you heard about the Dallas Rennaisance? And everyone will love outdoor concerts and plays by the lake! Dallas is a great city and I'd love to show that to you. That said, I myself have gotten so run down from travel, I just wanted to crash and not see anyone. I respect that my guests may be having that kind of stay. This makes me happy, too. Sometimes we all crave peace and quiet and I love giving that to guests who most need it.
