Interaction with Guests
I run an English school near the apartment, so I am never too far away in case you need my help with anything.
Shimokitazawa is a very cool area! The pedestrian-friendly lanes are stuffed with shops, restaurants, cafes and bars. You`ll never run out of exploring because there are about 1500 shops in the area. Be sure to see the Shimokita Garage Department, described by Lonely Planet as a "flea market with treasures galore". There are also many vintage clothes shops here and they are generally a bargain!
Make sure you look up the staircases too, because many of the shops are on the second floor of the cute buildings that line the almost traffic-free streets.
There is a 24 hour supermarket "Foodium" right next to the station, so you will always be able to stock up on anything you like at anytime of day or night.
Shimokitazawa station is just a 3 minute walk from the apartment.
Shibuya is 4 minutes train ride on the Inokashira line.
The Odakyu line also runs through Shimokitazawa station and you can get a train to Shinjuku in under 10 minutes.
After taking the train to Shibuya-
Yoyogi park- 10 min walk
Harajuku- 12 min walk
Shinjuku- 7 min (Yamanote line)
Ginza- 15 min (Ginza line)
Asakusa- 30 min (Ginza line)
Akihabara- 25 min (Yamanote line)
Tokyo sky tree- 30 min (Hanzomon line to Oshiage station)
The best way from Narita airport is to get a limousine bus straight to Shibuya, from there you can either get on the Inokashira train line to Shimokitazawa station, or get a 1,500 yen taxi directly to the apartment. If coming from Haneda airport, jump on the train or get a bus into Shibuya and then change to the Inokashira line.

Jay's apartment in Shimokitazawa was awesome. It was nice and clean, with TV-set, air conditioning, bath towels, and most importantly natural lights from the outside.
Within 5-minute walk from the train station only, where I could head to the Shinjuku or Shibuya. And just steps away, I found everything I needed including grocery stores, 24-hr convenient stores, and of course all kinds of tasty cuisines. With these advantages of easy access, I still had my quiet space in Jay's apartment. Great!!
Definitely suggest this place to all users.
Pad is spot on and Jay was the perfect host, and this was the coolest area we visited in Tokyo.
Jay responded quickly to our queries. Although we did not get to meet him, he made sure that we were comfortable, especially when we sent an SOS about the heater on the first night. It was fixed by the time we were back on the second night.
The place itself was just as described. Some previous reviews already mentioned about the small bathroom. Having been to Japan many times, it was not an issue. We got lost for a few minutes looking for the place, but we found our way after a quick call to Jay. The location is nice - with lots of restaurants and convenience stores just at your doorstop. There are so many dining options, which was a nice problem for a foodie like me. My wife liked the hipster vibe of the area and the trendy shops selling clothes - repurposed (previously loved) and new. My kids were quick to learn the train lines and ended up taking over from me and my wife when we had difficulty navigating the different train connections.
Our flight back was delayed and Jay was kind enough to extend our checkout time. I was initially concerned about airport transfers but we just got a short cab ride to Shibuya where the airporter bus for Haneda was waiting for us at Mark City.
Overall, we had a very pleasant experience and would highly recommend it for bookings of 2 to 4 people.
The place was exactly as described. Shimokitazawa is a great neighborhood for someone who wants access to Harajuku and Shibuya but wants more of a neighborhood vibe. This apartment is very close to the station, which makes it easy to access the rest of the city. As you may know, having a wifi card is critical as a foreign visitor, so having one come with the apartment is key!
Myself and 5 friends stayed in 2 of Jay's apartments in Shimokitazawa. We had a great stay and Jay was A friendly and helpful host. We couldn't have asked for a better location! Shimokitazawa itself was a great area to explore with great shops and restaurants but it was also very close to the train station for easy access to many other great areas. We would definitely stay again!
Jay's apartment was in an excellent location, in a fun neighbourhood. The bed was very comfy and apartment was clean. Jay kindly accommodated our request to check in early. Bathroom is small but that is normal for japanese apartments. Would recommend staying here.
Jay communicated well using email from the time I booked through until the day I checked out. The apartment itself was as described on the website. Really great location and easy to find from the station. The street noise was loud at night time which may be an issue for some. I would definitely stay there again
