Interaction with Guests
I run an English school nearby, so I am never too far away in case you need my help with anything. Please let me know if you would like to be picked up at the airport. I have a van and depending on my schedule, I may be able to pick you up from Haneda or Narita and take you directly to the house for a reasonable rate.
Shimokitazawa is a very cool area! The pedestrian-friendly lanes are stuffed with shops, restaurants, cafes and bars. You`ll never run out of exploring because there are over 1,500 shops in the area.
Be sure to see the Shimokita Garage Department, described by Lonely Planet as a "flea market with treasures galore". There are also many vintage clothes shops here and they are generally a bargain! The streets are dotted with lots of cool shops and cool little lane ways.
Make sure you look up the staircases too, because many of the shops are on the second floor of the cute buildings that line the almost traffic-free streets.
There is a 24 hour supermarket "Foodium" right next to the station, so you will always be able to stock up on anything you like at anytime of day or night.
Shimokitazawa station is just a 3 minute walk from the apartment.
Shibuya is 4 minutes train ride on the Inokashira line.
The Odakyu line also runs through Shimokitazawa station and you can get a train to Shinjuku in under 10 minutes.
After taking the train to Shibuya-
Yoyogi park- 10 min walk
Harajuku- 12 min walk
Shinjuku- 7 min (Yamanote line)
Ginza- 15 min (Ginza line)
Asakusa- 30 min (Ginza line)
Akihabara- 25 min (Yamanote line)
Tokyo sky tree- 30 min (Hanzomon line to Oshiage station)
The best way from Narita airport is to get a limousine bus straight to Shibuya, from there you can either get on the Inokashira train line to Shimokitazawa station, or get a 1,500 yen taxi directly to the apartment. If coming from Haneda airport, jump on the train or get a bus into Shibuya and then change to the Inokashira line.
