Interaction with Guests
I run an English school near the apartment, so I am never too far away in case you need my help with anything.
Shimokitazawa is a very cool area! The pedestrian-friendly lanes are stuffed with shops, restaurants, cafes and bars. You`ll never run out of exploring because there are about 1500 shops in the area. Be sure to see the Shimokita Garage Department, described by Lonely Planet as a "flea market with treasures galore". There are also many vintage clothes shops here and they are generally a bargain!
Make sure you look up the staircases too, because many of the shops are on the second floor of the cute buildings that line the almost traffic-free streets.
There is a 24 hour supermarket "Foodium" right next to the station, so you will always be able to stock up on anything you like at anytime of day or night.
Shimokitazawa station is just a 3 minute walk from the apartment.
Shibuya is 4 minutes train ride on the Inokashira line.
The Odakyu line also runs through Shimokitazawa station and you can get a train to Shinjuku in under 10 minutes.
After taking the train to Shibuya-
Yoyogi park- 10 min walk
Harajuku- 12 min walk
Shinjuku- 7 min (Yamanote line)
Ginza- 15 min (Ginza line)
Asakusa- 30 min (Ginza line)
Akihabara- 25 min (Yamanote line)
Tokyo sky tree- 30 min (Hanzomon line to Oshiage station)
The best way from Narita airport is to get a limousine bus straight to Shibuya, from there you can either get on the Inokashira train line to Shimokitazawa station, or get a 1,500 yen taxi directly to the apartment. If coming from Haneda airport, jump on the train or get a bus into Shibuya and then change to the Inokashira line.

This is a nice little studio in what turned out to be our favourite neighbourhood in Tokyo. Shimokitazawa is well connected to the main attractions, yet there's so much to do in the chilled-out local area that you'll want to spend your time checking out the cafes, shops, record stores, izakayas and bars rather than dealing with the craziness of Shibuya and Shinjuku. Jay left us very clear instructions on how to find the place, making check in a breeze. The studio was bright and spacious, everything was perfectly clean and Jay had left plenty of towels and other necessities. After traveling in Japan for a few weeks you'll get used to the compact bathrooms, but if you're over six foot 3 like my partner, you might find you're best off taking a sit-down shower. The bed, however, is the largest we found during our Japan travels. Very comfortable. We would happily stay here again. Thanks Jay!
This apartment is located in the best little area of Tokyo. We absolutely loved it. It's busy but on a much smaller scale than Shibuya. The little restaurants are at your doorstep and you'll want to try them all. The apartment has everything you need. We didn't use the small kitchenette as there are so many options for food in the area. The ceiling height is quite low (I think 2.1metres) which adds to the cuteness of the place (my partner is 194cm so it made him look like a giant). Very comfortable bed and the doonas were very warm and super soft. Jay was very easy to communicate with and easily reached. Would definitely stay here again...thanks Jay.
We stayed here for three nights and loved it! Location was great, and the apartment had everything we needed. Highly recommend staying here!
Shimokita is a great district to base yourself. Lots of shops, places to eat and drink. Like Fitzroy in Melbourne, or Camden in London. Well worth a visit. Jay's place is ideal, clean and very convenient for the train station. Only issue we had was the pocket WiFi (whilst invaluable when working) ran out of battery quickly and the internet in the apartment drops out. Also, JR passes cannot be used to/from shimokita. Would recommend.
We loved our time in Tokyo! Jay was so great to communicate with, and all of the information to get to the space was accurate and efficient. The neighbourhood of Shimokitazawa was amazing! It was such a nice break from the sometimes chaotic feeling of Toyko, but was also so vibrant and exciting and there was always some place close to eat delicious food.
The space was great, it slept three of us comfortably and all of the linens and bedding was clean and comfortable. The bathroom was great and Japanese style, and the kitchen was perfect for making our own meals when we felt we were spending too much money on delicious food.
We would highly recommend you stay here in Tokyo, it is great for the price, and also an amazing neighbourhood to ensure that you have a balanced and perfect time in Tokyo.
The location was excellent and Jay's instructions were amazing! It was a very cute little flat that had everything in or around it to suit our needs.
