A large comfortable Casa designed like a small hotel
5 bedrooms each with their own bathroom.$45 per
person per night. Use of roof deck, living room ,and kitchen.
My Vacation home in San Miguel de Allende is like a little hotel....Eclectic in style with great views and lots of room for a group...5 bedrooms and five bathrooms....each bedroom has its own bathroom! Let me know what you need! One bedroom, three bedrooms or the whole house. The price will be suited to the number of people you have. SMA is a great town for art, great food, photography and culture.I have wifi, parking, and the house is great for entertaining....roof deck has 360 degree views of the town....bus stops outside house....Teresa is a great cook and she is available to you for 2 days unless you would like to hire her for more....the house has interesting decor and art work,
the light is something I was attracted to...wonderful light in the living room....good stove and everything you need to cook with!
I Have just joined this site and am very excited about meeting new people....But the house has rented since 2005 and a variety of people have stayed and enjoyed themselves.
One young woman rented the house for her family as she was getting married in SMA.
There is a writers group from Santa Barbara that rents the house every year.
A friend of a friend who lives in London rented the house one year over Xmas and had her family and friends join her....the house ,having five bedrooms and 7 beds is great for a group. But also two people can rent the house and just use the main floor which consists of bedroom. (email hidden) and living room.....I never feel the house is TOO big when i am there on my own.....The roof deck is a great place to hang out and watch the evening change...since San Miguel has a high altitude...6000 ft approximately....you will be feel much closer to the sky and moon...yes its true!!
Their own bathroom, the kitchen, the roof deck.the living room.
Interaction with Guests
I like my guests to enjoy themselves and will direct them if they need help. I enjoy people but like them to do what they enjoy doing , I am available if they need me.
Mexiquito is a colonia very close to the Aurora Fabrica.
The area is generally quiet and feels great to come to after a day in centro. Yet it is a short walk to centro...15 minutes with lots to see along the way. Aurora Fabrica is a cool place to hang out...It is an old factory turned into restaurants, galleries and high quality shops.... There is also an outdoor cafe where they make good (website hidden) area has everything you need...the corner store...the butcher and a great fruit and vegetable market. There is a bus that stops just our front and takes you into centro or another one that takes you 3/4 of the way. The come every 10minutes and cost 4 pesos.
Yes the bus stops just outside my door.
Other Things to Note
My house is spacious and comfortable for a group. the house offers both private and public spaces....the roof deck and the living room are places one can feel comfortable in....reading or using your computer. yes i have wifi.
!. 2 people max per room
2. Be nice to Sarah my housekeeper as i treasure her (she is a great cook too)
3. consider my neighbors when you are partying....i treasure them too.. Music not to loud after ten!
4. Have fun!
5. talk to my plants .....
6. Enjoy yourself!!
Kate house is amazing, very close to the Fabrica la Aurora and walking distance to downtown San Miguel. The house itself is very comfortable with a very large open kitchen and living room and a great terrace with incredible views of the city.
When we got to the house, Kate was there to greet us and show us the place. Later that first night she invited us to join her and a few friends for drinks. We had a marvelous time! Kate is an excellent host and made our stay very comfortable. We will definitely be back at Casa Grande!
Kate has been more than a host, it was like arrive to an aunt's house. We really enjoyed our chats with her. Her delightful mexican style house is just the beginning of a dive in the beautiful colors of San Miguel de Allende.
I stayed with Kate a few days before my whole family came to town for a reunion. Kate was awesome enough to rent out her whole house! And it is a huge house. She went above and beyond, changing all the linens, spending all day cleaning, extending our check out, just to make room for my family. She let us stay for only one night (we were on a tight budget) despite the amount of work it took. She even let my mom and I stay in her personal bedroom to make room for a potential extra cousin who invited himself last minute.
Everyone slept well and utilized the living room to play checkers in the morning, and her huge kitchen to make breakfast and catch up after a long night of family reunion craziness downtown. All the cousins and aunts had plenty of parking, and accommodations never felt tight.
I can't say enough great things about Kate, her home, her hospitality, and the area her home is located! Definitely stay with her if you are in SMA.
My mother and I stayed with Kate for a few days, but really it was like staying with a friend. First off, her house is gorgeous, the photos do not do the place justice. The light pours in every morning, upstairs the kitchen is welcoming and warm, the rooftop was a peaceful place to drink my morning coffee and nightly wine, but my room was so comfortable I could have easily stayed there all day!
Kate also went above and beyond to accommodate us, we each got to have our own room b/c no one else was staying at the house. She was super sweet to my dog. She had many tips for food and things to visit outside the "city" center. Also snacks and coffee were ready in the morning just as my stomach began to grumble.
The one thing that folks might ask about is the neighborhood, which is maybe a mile outside of the center. Don't hesitate because of this! Staying in town means loud wedding parties and drunk folks screaming outside your window all night and clean up crews early in the morning. Taxis are super cheap, maybe $2 or $3, so you can visit the "madness" downtown without staying in it. And honestly you are talking a few blocks here not miles, it's splitting hairs, I just want to make sure everyone knows it is close and safe . But the area worked PERFECTLY for me, since I have a car and a dog. There is plenty of street parking and 4 huge soccer fields a block away for the dog to run around in. The 15 - 20 min walk into town was actually pleasant since I enjoy walking (and relatively flat considering), but my 60+ year old mother preferred to take the bus (until she found out how cheap taxis are!) and that was as easy as pie as well, right outside the house every 15 minutes.
I will be in SMA for a month and regret not staying with Kate the whole time, b/c it is actually closer to everything I want to do then the city center is. My spanish school, uncle's art gallery, and some of the better (less expensive) restaurants are near her gorgeous home.
Kate is easy to communicate with, so just send her an email before your trip and she will clearly, and in detail, help you with your visit to San Miguel.
Good luck Kate! Hope to see you around town :)
I'd never used airbnb.com before. It was recommended to me and Grande Casa was the perfect place to stay. It is a beautiful casa with every amenity one could list on a wish list. Beautiful décor and extremely clean. Teresa, the housekeeper is a gem. I'd like to take her with me the rest of my stay! About a 15 minute walk into the Centro and right on the bus line. I'd love to bring a group of friends or family back for an occasion. Gracious, Kate.
Spectacular! We truly enjoyed the "casa de Kate" we couldn't have expected more, the house is beautifully set, it has everything you need to feel at home! its close to down town San Miguel and far away to feel quiet and enjoy the view from the roof terrace. Love San Miguel, will go back in a heart beat to the town and the house!
