The Good: Idyllic seaside retreat with the ultimate in relaxation and privacy. Meals (avg $15-28 Fijian) and Wi-Fi provided ($5/hour), along with activities like cave exploration & horseback riding. Untouched coastlines means miles of coral beaches and lagoons with lots of tropical fish and beautiful seashells!
To Note: 6km from main road via a bumpy dirt path, difficult access to civilisation. Don't take the bus after 5pm (it's not available, even if it's cheaper), easiest way is to take a taxi from the airport to the resort (about $70 Fijian dollars fee for a ~70 minute drive).
You are really isolated here and the nearest village is an hour's walk on foot through the jungle following the old train tracks. But it is very relaxing and you will enjoy meeting the 3 cows, 2 horses, 4 hens, 1 rooster, dog and kitten! (Her name is Kitty and DON'T feed her any table scraps or else she'll jump on your table for every meal!!)
If you, like me, loathe the big resort atmosphere, this is a great place. It is secluded and gorgeous, the staff is genuine and friendly, and the whole experience feels welcoming and pleasant. I thought it was great.
I rented a scooter from a place in Nadi to get here, that was a fun adventure as well if you're into that sort of thing.
To set expectations, there was power only from 7PM until early morning, and there aren't any frills- it's basic and beautiful. I see this as a benefit, not just because it's how I prefer to live, but also because it means the other guests were interesting and pleasant instead of entitled and vapid per my experience at big resorts.
Our stay in the Coral Coast was an incredible experience thanks to the lovely staff and the beautiful surroundings from start to finish.
We had a large size room with a large en-suite - The bathroom has an outside shower which was beautiful, especially at night time to shower underneath the stars.
Snorkelling was the best we experienced in Fiji by far! A huge variety of fish, coral, starfish etc. with a safe reef to swim in constantly. Snorkels & kayaks are free which was an added bonus compared to other resorts.
The food was delicious & organic- try the fish curry! I think this is what we loved best about the food, to know that it was organic and extremely fresh.
We went on a couple of tours which were fabulous and well guided through the rainforest setting, learning about the Fijian culture from past and present.
We absolutely loved our time staying in the white sandy beach villa and would highly recommend it to anyone. Make sure you sit down at the beach at sunset, you may even see the locals on horses riding into the sunset.
We enjoyed a very relaxing stay at this lovely seaside resort. The villa was very comfortable and clean and the staff is very helpful and friendly. IiYou will definitely be off the grid as there is only electricity at night and internet is spotty at best. Take the opportunity to relax away from it all. The hotel is right on the reef so you can snorkel anytime without a boat- just walk in and enjoy. I loved the open air shower in our room. Please be careful not to step on the coral as you can see lots of dead corals from previous incidents. The food was quite good and reasonably priced. If you like to relax by the seaside in a stunning reef setting, you will like it.
