About this listing
On a trendy Brooklyn block minutes from Manhattan, this gorgeous XL studio filled w/ plants, art & love is your refuge from the urban jungle of NYC. I'm picky about who I entrust my home to, and take meticulous care of the guests I do host. :)
The apartment is a very large, sun-drenched 700+ square foot studio. It is larger than many one-bedrooms in this area. It is ideal for one person, or perhaps 2 friends. I have a strong preference for women. It is arranged in such a way that you have basically 3 fairly separate spaces: a large eat-in kitchen space, a bedroom space with closets, and an expansive living room space.
The apartment boasts 5 windows in total, exposed brick wall, a beautiful decorative fireplace, lots of closet space, a dish washer and… wait for it… a washer/dryer!
I’m a photographer and plant lover, and my décor theme is a magical forest kind of thing. You’ll see a lot of photos of monkeys, lots of potted plants everywhere, and an earthy vibe. It's a real refuge from the 20 million people you get to share the rest of NYC with. :)
This place is my home that I rent out when I travel. That means that the kitchen is fully stocked with all the pots, pans, and appliances you might need… there are basics stocked like detergent, paper towels, etc., all of which you are welcome to use.
One note, it is on the third floor but the house is right on a busy avenue so there is some noise from traffic.
There is very fast high-speed internet and a 27” apple monitor that works with macs. There is a very comfortable desk great for working.
This place is built for comfort.
Interaction with Guests
I am available 24/7 by phone if you have questions. My designated Air B&B co-host will be nearby in Brooklyn to assist you as well.
Boerum Hill is a classic Brooklyn neighborhood. Nestled right in the middle of Cobble Hill, Park Slope and Brooklyn Heights, it couldn’t be more central both in terms of access to other parts of Brooklyn and in terms of access to Manhattan.
The streets are lined with gorgeous brownstones, amazing restaurants and bars, and all the vintage furniture and boutique clothing stores one could ask for! The bottomline is that Boerum Hill has enough going for it to be a destination in its own right, yet maintains a local neighborhood vibe that makes it a great place to relax and call home.
My apartment is near almost every single train in NYC and less than 10 minutes to Manhattan by cab. It is 2 blocks to Smith Street, one of Brooklyn’s hottest strips. You will not find a more central location in Brooklyn.
But if you don’t feel like leaving the house, you can easily order food from over 50 nearby restaurants, serving everything from authentic Indian, sushi, gourmet pizza, even Colombian food – anything your heart might desire.
Other Things to Note
Like with any apartment, there are a few aspects that may not work for everyone so I wanted to outline them up front:
- I have a strong preference for female guests (sorry no single men and no couples)
-It is a 2 flight walk-up (3rd floor)
-I don’t have a TV (I watch the internet).
-There is some very moderate street noise from a large avenue, though it quiets down at night.
Again, this is my home, and while I'm thrilled to share it while I travel, I take this very seriously. I love this home with all my heart and I’ve poured a ton of effort and resources into making it comfortable and welcoming. I am very happy to open it up to a respectful person, and am really only charging enough to cover the monthly expenses I pay for the apartment, but in exchange I am counting on the person or persons to take care of this place as they would their own home.
- No guests allowed unless pre-approved
-I have strict rules about the following: No smoking, No parties, No pets, and No doing anything that might violate my hardworking neighbors’ peace and quiet. There is so much to do in this neighborhood, I just ask that you don’t bring the party home.
Sunny, eat-in kitchen. There's so much room to cook in this kitchen, which is stocked with everything you need.
