About This Listing
A cosy double room available in a newly renovated house, located within walking distance of dublins top tourist attractions including kilmainham jail, phoenix park and guinness storehouse. 15 min bus ride to city centre.
With the help of family and friends, we have spent the last year renovating our 1930s home. Located in the olde world community of Inchicore in Dublin 8. We offer a luxury double bedroom which sleeps two. The room is very comfortable; the bed is dressed in quality bed linen. In case you are cold in the night, we will provide you with a hot water bottle and some extra blankets. We supply bath towels and we'll leave out some bottled water and shower products! The bathroom has an electric shower, so you are always guaranteed hot water!
When we renovated our house, we upgraded the heating system - we have central heating throughout the house, so you can be assured of a warm and cosy stay! You can control the heating in your room so you wont be too hot or too cold. We also upgraded the alarm system and have a full alarm censoring system throughout the house. Although our neighbourhood is very safe, we want to ensure you feel really safe when staying with us.
We have super fast broadband - the password is posted on the wall of your bedroom.
Guests have access to a comfortable double room and separate bathroom with electric shower. The rest of the house is off limits. On arrival you will be given a set of house keys so you will be able to come and go as you please.
Interaction with Guests
we are available to meet our guests on arrival and answer and questions you may have.
We are usually quite busy (we have a little baby who keeps us on our feet!).
We will supply lots of brochures and city maps about things to do in the city. We can also give you details on travel discount cards (e.g. The Dublin City (website hidden) Card) that you can use on Dublin buses and trams. Please feel free to borrow our Ireland Lonely Planet guidebook and Dublin street map during your stay. And because its Ireland - we have lots of umbrellas at the ready!! ;-)
Our home is located in Inchicore, a historic part of Dublin. It is an area steeped in history and you will find plenty to do and see on the doorstep. You are approximately a 10 minute walk from top tourist attractions including Kilmainham Gaol (website hidden), Irish Museum of Modern Art (IMMA) and the War Memorial Gardens. Guinness Brewery on James Street is about about a 20 minute walk. You can get to all of these attractions using the LUAS tram or bus. Phoenix Park is nearby - this is Europe's largest city park and home to the Irish President. The park can be enjoyed for picnics, strolls or even a run (if you are feeling energetic!). St. Patrick's Athletic, the reigning League of Ireland soccer champions play their home games in the village of Inchicore. The grounds are a 5 minute walk from our house, it is well worth walking down to experience the buzz of match day on the street and in neighbouring pubs. As well as all of these wonderful sights, there are traditional pubs, shops, cafes, restaurants, beauty salons, hairdressers on our doorstep. We are happy to offer you any recommendations and information about the wonderful neighbourhood of Inchicore/Kilmainham and the city of Dublin.
Our home is located nearby the city centre and is really well served by public transport; approximately a 12 minute bus ride, a 15 minute cycle, a 15 minute tram ride, or a 45 minute walk. You are on multiple bus routes (no. 13, 68, 69), or 7 minutes walk from the red LUAS tram (Blackhorse stop) which serves the city centre as well as Dublin Bus Stations (Connolly and Bus Aras), Dublin Train Station (Heuston) and the O2 (a popular concert venue).
Heuston Station, Ireland's main railway station is 7 stops away on the LUAS tram, it takes about 15 mins by tram to get there. Heuston is a gateway to the rest of the country with rail connections to Cork, Kerry, Waterford and Limerick as well as many other destinations.
Dublin City Bikes have just been installed in Kilmainham and provide a really nice way to get around the whole city.
If you are travelling by car, you are also a 4 minute drive to the M50/N4 junction (Dublin's main ring road) and 20 minutes drive from the airport. There is free on-street parking right outside our home.
For guests arriving from Dublin airport, the special 747 bus terminates at Heuston Station which is less than 2.5 km away. You can take the red LUAS tram to right by our house. Our stop is Blackhorse.
Most public transport stops at about mid-night, however on the weekends (Friday and Saturday night) there is a NiteLink bus service that operates. The 25n bus leaves Westmoreland Street in the city centre at 00.00am, 01.00am, 02.00am, 03.00am and 04.00am and will drop you in Inchicore Village, which is a 3 minute walk from our house. This bus costs €5 if you have a LEAP card or €6 if you pay by cash. (website hidden)

Mareesa and Evan made us feel extremely welcome. Mareesa met us at the door, made us a cup of tea and provided fantastic guidance on how to attack Dublin in a day! The house was beautiful and beyond expectations. The shower was warm and the bed more comfortable than our own. Mareesa even booked a taxi for our exit and left us a lovely breakfast! Would highly recommend a stay here! Also note, the location is superb in relation to the city centre!
Staying with Mareesa and Evan was lovely. We really love the room as it was kept clean and tidy. If you happen to forget your hot water bottle like we did, fret not as it was also provided. Breakfast was nice and simple, information in getting around Dublin was also given as well as a guidebook to their home upon arrival. it was really cosy staying at their home and a plus point to it as well was it was less than a five minutes walk to the nearest bus station from their front gate!
The house was lovely and situated in an accessible part of town with easy parking and close to public transport.
Mareesa and Evan are the sweetest couple. We arrived early on a Saturday morning and everything was ready for us at 9am. They welcomed us in at that early hour and we felt right at home straight away. In our room, which was small but absolutely gorgeous, there were fresh towels, little toiletries, bottles of water and the house manual which had absolutely everything you needed to know about how things worked in the house. The bed is very comfy! They even left a guide book which proved invaluable as we didn't have one! It is an older one (2008) so prices of things are a bit out of date but the maps were great! Mareesa also gave us a map of Dublin as well as cards of the places they recommended for tea, coffee etc. They were so helpful with tips and recommendations for great things to do in Dublin. Breakfast was lovely. We enjoyed the soda bread and they have a fabulous coffee machine which we loved using. They had the heating on when we were in the house so we were toasty warm & we even had a little hot water bottle on the bed.
The house is a 5 minute walk from the 13 bus stop which takes you right into town in 15/20mins. Its 2.55 euro each for this journey. They are close to Kilmainham Gaol- one of the best things we did in Dublin. Other attractions are in town but no more than 20mins bus away tops. We didn't mind getting the bus- in fact we were really glad we stayed in Inchicore as you got a real sense of where Dubliners lived rather than staying in the tourist haven of central Dublin.
We have stayed in lots of air b n b's the world over and this was definitely one of our best experiences. They are a truly genuine, caring young couple! We would 100% stay here next time we come to Dublin.
Mareesa and Evan were very welcoming of us into their lovely home. They were friendly and helpful with ideas of what to do. Their home was very comfortable, spacious and homely. The location was good, only a short trip on the bus into the city centre.
Mareesa and Evan were pleasant hosts, the home was cosy and welcoming within close proximity to local shops and really good attractions. The local tram was very handy with purchase of a leap card made it very easy to use. The area was a lovely place to stay with the people with whom we come into contact with were extremely friendly making our stay so much more enjoyable.
We stayed here end of november 2014. The house is warm and cosy, just what we had in mind. Lovely clean room on the garden site of the house. Although we haven't met mareesa and Evan, communication was really good and we felt welcome as they put a card for us on the table and left a card with our names on the door. Breakfast was enough, everything available what we needed. We had the house to ourselves, that was nice :). Close to the city centre very easy to go by bus and you're in the city in 10/15 minutes or by taxi 10/15 dollar.

About the Host, Mareesa And Evan
Hi! Thank you for visiting our profile. We are experienced Airbnb hosts with over 60 excellent reviews for our other listing (please see our other listing for reviews).
We are a married couple living in our newly renovated house in Dublin. We took a little break from Airbnb for a few months to welcome our new little baby girl into the world. It's important that we mention that we have a baby and therefore a very busy little home. Our little girl keeps us on our feet all day but sleeps well at night (for now!!). We are constantly in and out of the house so you might see lots of us or you might not see us much.
We decided to open our home up to Air BnB guests because we think it's great that you can stay somewhere, really feel at home, meet new people and for it not to cost a fortune!
Feel free to contact us and ask us any questions!
