Leukerbad is the little brother of Crans Montana, Saas Fee, and Zermatt and is therefore more competitively priced, and the old-world charm of a Swiss village is still very much preserved. It's main attraction are the Thermal Baths (imagine lying outside in a pool of hot frothing bubbles, gazing up at the fabulous scenery...), Winter Sports (Downhill, X country, snow-shoeing, curling, ice skating); 4 season walking/hiking trails; brilliant cheese and wine...
You can walk everywhere with ease - and if you need bus transport, you can take the Ringjet bus that circles the village.
You don't need a car in Leukerbad as everything is within walking distance. And public transport will bring you right into the village from all airports. Shopping facilities include Supermarket, Wine, Cheese delicatessen etc.
The nightly rates includes bedding/laundry/final cleaning and the Leukerbad-Karte for reductions, and also use of the Wellness/Gym. Local Tax is payable locally at the following rates:
2.50SWF Tourist Tax per person per night (1.25SWF children aged 6-16 Years) per night
If you require a change of bedding/laundry during your stay, that will be 80SWF.
The Wellness and Gym, ski room, bike room, communal patio
Interaction with Guests
We have a wonderful on-site concierge who looks after our guests and can offer help and advice.
Everything is within walking distance - the thermal baths (Burgerbad and Leukerbad Therme) and both gondolas, and of course the shops (supermarket/cheese/wine shops and more...). Leukerbad still preserves a village feel and the locals are really friendly.
The Ringjet Bus provides half hourly transport around the village
Other Things to Note
Leukerbad is the small brother of Zermatt, Crans Montana and Saas Fee and is therefore better value.
The apartment is non smoking and we are sorry but we can't take pets.
Leukerbad is a magical place, and Tony & Tina's apartment is in a great location, just a couple of minutes' walk from the supermarket, various thermal baths, the gondola to Rinderhütte, great restaurants, etc. ... and gorgeous views of the mountains. We were there in winter, and the apartment was toasty-warm and really well-equipped, with easy garage and ski-room access, and its own 'wellness' area with steam-room, jacuzzi and sauna. The concierge was really helpful and friendly.
We were two couples and a one year old. Tina's home and Luekerbad is lovely! Our only regret is that we didn't have more time there!! There was fruit in the bowl and a kind welcome card on arrival :) It was a very smooth checkin, even though we arrived at 11:30pm, Tina's host was most gracious, even getting a high chair for the baby which was very thoughtful. There was a parking bay underground for our hire car. Kitchen is lovely with an oven and microwave and spices should you wish to cook.
The view is AMAZING!!! The air so fresh and clean. The wellness centre in the complex is INCREDIBLE. We had hoped it would be open all day, but is only open between 5:30-8:30pm.
The hike is incredible. The town is lovely. Beautiful. Beautiful.
Few things to take note of:
It was quite warm but a breeze did drift through as evening fell. However there was no fly swats or spray so that was a bit annoying when cooking.
There were also no rubbish bags. We went and bought some from the supermarket.
One thing to take note of is airbnb doesn't include the Swiss tax so we did have to pay another $112 Swiss francs upon check out. Tina did let us know this, but not that is was needed in cash, which we did not have on us in Francs, only Euros. This meant a bit of extra stress trying to walk to the ATM on the morning of check out and we were on a deadline to get to our next destination.
The bed/pillows were quite soft, so keep that in mind if you prefer a hard mattress/pillow.
All in all, hubby and I are planning on returning next year!! Hope to stay here again :) thank you so much!!!!!!
