Hi. I started using airbnb as a guest during a meandering 6-week 1400-mile bicycle tour from Nova Scotia to New York City in September 2013. I have stayed in airbnb rooms, apartments and houses throughout the U.S., and in Spain, Cuba and Italy that I can think of off hand. All have been wonderful experiences.

I became a host in May 2018. My primary residence is in Oakland but I keep a cute 2-bedroom unit in a duplex I own in Tucson for when I visit 8 or 9 times a year and rent it out when I'm not in town. I own The Historic Y Center for the Arts, Education, Human Rights and Social and Environmental Justice about 3 blocks from the duplex. With three theater spaces, The Rogue, The Scoundrel and The Scamp, and The Riquito, there's always something going on there. If you are staying in my place, let me know if you'd like me to find out what is happening while you are in town.

Here's a little more about me that you may appreciate knowing especially if I have requested to stay in your place: I have a BA from Yale, a Master of Architecture degree from Harvard, and a background in architecture, planning, construction management and historic renovation. I love to travel and have done an extensive amount, including trips to India, Nepal, Beijing, Egypt, Ireland, Indonesia, Vietnam, Myanmar, Italy, France, Spain, Cuba and Peru in the last 6 years alone. I'm an avid cyclist as well and have done many week-long trips (including from Vienna to Budapest, from Bryce to Zion to the north rim of the Grand Canyon, and from SF to LA (AIDS/LifeCycle fundraising ride - 6 times!) and for my 50th birthday in 2012, I rode 2200-miles from Vancouver to San Diego in 7-1/2 weeks. In 2013, I spent 3 weeks riding between New York and Nova Scotia, including the entire Cape Breton loop. And in 2014 I rode again on the east coast, both through New England and Shenandoah as well as from the southeast to the northwest corners of Tuscany, Italy and around the entire Big Island of Hawaii. In 2015, I biked around the island of Oahu, from New York to DC and from San Francisco to LA.

Currently I am taking Spanish at the local community college and plan to do a Spanish Language Immersion Program later in the year.

Life is a series of experiences and I am all about collecting them! I'm much more apt to be spending my money and time on experiences - travel, culture, food - than things. I live simply. I love being outdoors, especially on my bike.
