The Space

I offer free airport pick up for a stay of 2 weeks or longer. The Munivara Ashram with daily yoga classes and evening kirtan is just around the corner.

Our family keeps several animals; Shirley the goat, Vic our young watchdog in training, Dude and Dusty the most loveable cats, Pepper our new black kitten. They are all cared for by the staff but do roam freely throughout the property (Shirley is kept tied up at all times). If you don't like animals this is probably not the right place for you.

The Lumbung, a building that was once so ubiquitous in Bali, is almost impossible to find these days in the modern world of Bali's cement box villas. This home is a rare treat for anyone looking to experience a closer (email hidden) in Bali and to feel truly at home away from home. Emerse yourself in the nature that surrounds my property. Guests enjoy a quiet and very private stay in a traditional Balinese farming village. You can watch the daily routines of the local farmers as they pass by, hear the neighbor's cow mooing, watch ducks grazing in the rice fields, and take long gorgeous walks into the serenity and emerald green magic of surrounding rice fields.

The 2 story thatched roof Ubud Lumbung sits on a large, very private, quiet, lush garden property with two other homes. The Lumbung offers hip design and lots of comfort. The home includes wireless internet, fully equipped kitchen: with oven, blender, toaster, juicer, and large refrig, a simply stylish outdoor bathroom with koi pond, bamboo flooring upstairs, 32" flat screen tv with dvd player and lots of movies, an amazing rice field view to the east and full moon rise, private garden view to the west, and woven bamboo walls which keep the house cool day and night.

The Contemporary Eco Bali-style Lumbung is located 10 minutes drive outside of Ubud so some form of transportation to get to and from Ubud is essential. I recommend a motor scooter but car rentals are easy to find or you also have the option of hiring a car with driver.

The Munivara Ashram is just around the corner for afternoon yoga classes or kirtan in the evenings. Puri Sunia Resort's Abangan restaurant is just next door along with the very simple Balinese owned Happy Warung just down the street for those of you who don't want to think about cooking while on holiday.

My lumbung is staffed with the family’s housekeeper who provides house cleaning services.

  • Caroline's place is truly a sanctuary and the perfect place. Upon my arrival I was greeted and welcomed by the people who work at the property and felt right at home from the beginning. The home was clean, cozy, quiet, and the greatest space I found while on my long stay in Bali. The quality of the WiFi connection was also excellent for those of you who make a living from working online as I do. Her pets she mentioned were sweet, friendly and a joy to see every day. If you feel called to this precious space gift yourself the opportunity to be in a truly wonderful Bali home. It is a short motorbike into the center of Ubud, and the drive is quite lovely! I will absolutely come back to Caroline's home on my next visit.

  • Caroline and her staff couldn't have been more helpful and welcoming
throughout my stay. This (email hidden) to unwind, and relax, and is ideally located just a few minutes from the bustle of Ubud, surrounded by rice fields, coconut palms, and in the midst of Carolines' lush and varied garden.

I would return in a heartbeat.

Having lived in Ubud, Bali for 28 years, working as an artist and designer. My two children, half Indonesian and born here are now adults. I became an Indonesian citizen 16 years ago. I designed, built, and furnished each of the homes on my large garden property. I enjoy sharing my Bali experience with anyone who is interested.
