The space

My Raja Yoga jewel box Studio Apt is available for a short period of time - from April 19th until the May 30th.

For travelers wanting to experience more than just a superficial hotel or “villa” stay I offer this unique home on one large, lush, secluded garden property surrounded by pristine rice fields in a traditional farming village 10 minutes drive outside of Ubud. Watch the daily routines of the local farmers as they pass by, hear the neighbor's cow mooing, watch ducks grazing in the rice fields, and take long gorgeous walks into the serenity and emerald green magic of surrounding rice fields.

The Raja Yoga Studio Apartment is privately owned by myself and sits on the same property with 2 other homes. Uniquely designed and built for myself, this jewel box studio is a rare quiet retreat for anyone looking for a real home away from home. The studio includes wireless internet, an outdoor bathroom under a glass roof with a bathtub, a large work table, lots of storage space, a fully functioning kitchenette, and a large deck that looks east to pristine rice fields and the full moon rise.

Some form of transportation is required for your stay here. I recommend a motorbike if you feel confident as the traffic in Ubud, especially during high season, is crazy and parking is almost impossible in a car. For those who prefer renting a car, or a car with a driver, I am happy to organize this for you.

There is a very nice restaurant next door at Puri Sunia Resort, a new restaurant at Om Ham around the corner, and a couple of local warungs within walking distance if you don't feel like cooking at home. The Munivara Ashram is also just around the corner for afternoon yoga classes or Kirtan in the evening.

The studio is staffed with the family’s housekeeper who provides house cleaning services. Our family keeps several animals; Shirley the goat, Pepper the cat, and Vic and Bianca our canine watchdogs. All animals are cared for by the staff and live in the garden or over at the big house.

I made Bali my permanent home in 1986. I would like to share my beautiful home with anyone interested in experiencing a unique and personal visit to this magical island.

Hi Caroline, Nyoman, Kadek and Wayun Thank you very much for all making my stay at the Raja Yoga studio perfect. It was the ideal space for yoga, meditation and some work. Caroline the open design is both simple and stunning. I used the resort beyond the rice paddy for a couple of massages, ate at the warung down the road and went to the Ashram for yoga (where you can hire a mat if you don't bring one) I would love to return and will try to next year some time. The two cats and dog were friendly company. I felt very safe and well looked after. The pushbike was useful for small trips to Ashram and warung. I also walked into Ubud and back home again another evening. If you like walking this is a lovely thing to do and takes about an hour. I would recommend it to anyone who wants a peaceful, genuine and private space of their own away from the busy but wonderful centre of Ubud. Cheers and thanks Lawrie

We loved our stay in the studio! A fantastic place, large and open, solid and square, every part of the home is thoughtfully designed and well made (especially liked roof and tiled floor). The surroundings are wonderful, full of plant life and things to look at/listen to (one morning spent watching 60ish year old farmer climb coconut tree, fireflies at night, gamelan…) plus it's a good distance to Ubud centre, not too close to the crowds, but not too far... Thank you to Caroline and her staff, who are all very kind and helpful. And we'll miss the pets, Dusty, Dude and Vic!

This studio is quaint and practical with all that one needs to be self sufficient in Bali. You will find fridge, filtered water, and gas cooker as well as other comforts such as lamps, table&chairs, wardrobes, ample cushions. The outdoor shower is such a treat with views of the rice paddies. We enjoyed being amongst village life and having some distance from the tourist hustle and bustle. The studio is 5kms out of Ubud so you need to be prepared for a beautiful 1hr walk (downhill), use of scooters, or negotiations with drivers (40 000 was our lowest price). Caroline's place was the perfect piece of paradise we were looking for. The hospitality offered was genuine and delightful as were visits from the animals of the house. We recommend this studio and would choose to stay here again if we returned to Ubud.

This place is 100% charm. Nested among the rice fields, about 3 miles from the often hectic Ubud downtown, the studio is a wonderful retreat. The staff were very helpful and pleasant. If you're looking for a place off the tourist trail, this is the place to stay!

I have lived in Ubud, for over 28 years, working as an artist and designer. I designed, built, and furnished each of the homes on my large garden property. I enjoy sharing my Bali experience with anyone who is interested.
